00:00So, my question is, whenever we take decision in life, we tend to take the easier path despite
00:08it not being beneficial to us.
00:11We like to stay in our comfort zone.
00:13So how do we come out of this?
00:14How do we push ourselves to take the difficult route?
00:18You do that because you have been convinced that you do not deserve anything beyond a
00:26point, right?
00:31The high things in life, be it within or without, they all require a price to be paid.
00:45They all require that you toil and face difficulties and suffer blows.
00:55But why will you suffer blows if you have been convinced by the environment around you
01:02that you anyway do not deserve to reach the top?
01:08So you will say, the top is anyway inaccessible to me.
01:13I need to reach some place in between.
01:16So I will take the shortest kind of route possible and the most economical medium possible.
01:25When you know who you really are and when you know that your potential is unlimited, then
01:35there is self-love.
01:38When you do not want to deprive yourself of what you deserve.
01:43And then you say, I'll pay whatever price it takes, I'll not settle for something mediocre.
01:54But mostly, our misfortune, if I may put it that way, is that the mediocre society turns its
02:11own kid into mediocre products.
02:15Right?
02:16The kid is heavily dependent on the society for information, for upbringing, for culture,
02:24for conditioning, all of that comes from the society.
02:28And the society is in itself never something of excellence.
02:34Therefore, it does not cultivate values of excellence within its kids.
02:44And the kid is made to believe that a normal kind of, as they say, run-of-mill life, that's
02:53all that there is.
02:55In fact, if you try to think big, then you are shown down, you are told to stay within
03:07your limits.
03:08No?
03:09The result is then a drop in self-love.
03:17Because there is something within all of us, remember this very clearly, that can fall
03:24in love only with absolute excellence.
03:28With anything short of the absolute, you will find yourself short of love.
03:36That absolute is also what has been sometimes called as the truth or liberation or even God.
03:47That's the reason why religions have existed since ancient times.
03:55Because something in us just very madly loves the absolute.
04:00It cannot live without the absolute.
04:05In more personal terms, that absolute is your own personal possibility.
04:14Most of us do not love ourselves.
04:16In fact, if you look at the way we behave and take decisions, you will find that in a
04:21hidden way we hate ourselves.
04:23We are anti-life.
04:26We do things, don't we, that harm us.
04:29Somebody keeps on smoking.
04:31He knows smoking is bad, still he keeps on smoking.
04:35Somebody knows he must work hard and study or something, he does not do that.
04:40What is it, what is it?
04:42Somebody continues to bear in an abusive relationship and never drops out.
04:51Why do we do that?
04:53We keep on eating all kinds of unhealthy stuff.
04:56Why do we do that?
04:59Why are all these things indicators of self-love?
05:03No.
05:04They are indicators of self-hate.
05:07Why do we hate ourselves?
05:09Because we have refused our highest possibility to ourselves.
05:15Whenever you will do that, you will hate yourself your entire life.
05:22Whenever you will refuse the highest to yourself, you will become guilty in your own eyes and
05:32you will not be able to forgive yourself for that.
05:36And how can you love someone who can't even be pardoned?
05:41How can you love someone who is guilty of a very bad crime?
05:47So we don't love ourselves.
05:51We don't love ourselves.
05:53If you don't love yourself, why will you want to give yourself the best?
05:57You will settle for anything normal, usual, mediocre.
06:12You will say, but you know, this is the way the world is.
06:15I'm an average bloke like everybody else.
06:21You can find some kind of false peace in calling yourself an average person.
06:30But that will be an inner death.
06:36Inwardly, you know what is it we all live for?
06:40We live for excellence.
06:42We live for the Absolute.
06:44That's what the human birth is for, to attain the Absolute.
06:52Instead if you have convinced yourself to stay mediocre within, then it's death.
06:59Because life is for the highest.
07:03Anything lower than highest, life is the same as death.
07:09So choose your company with great discretion.
07:19Do not be around people who show you down.
07:24Be very clear.
07:25Be with people who ruthlessly prod you on towards betterment, who mercilessly bring out your shortcomings,
07:38who never allow you to believe for a second that you are destined to live a mediocre life.
07:48They'll say, because you must be excellent, therefore all your mistakes must be exposed.
07:57That's the kind of people and books and environment you should choose.
08:04Inwardly, whenever you find thoughts of weaknesses dominating you, push away those thoughts.
08:13Do not allow anybody to dominate you, including your own thoughts.
08:20If even your own judgment is that you are a weakling, reject that judgment.
08:30You might be beaten and when you are beaten, accept that with honesty and courage.
08:38But if somebody tells you that it is your destiny to remain beaten and fallen, push that person away.
08:43Yes, I have fallen and I won't hide the fact that I have fallen.
08:49I am courageous enough to boldly admit that I have fallen and it is such a bad display on my part.
08:56Surely I am cultivating some nonsense within, the reflection of which is this fall.
09:03But if you are telling me that I must limit my life itself, that I must give up on the potential and the possibilities that life has to offer,
09:21then sorry, sorry, sorry.
09:24If I have to live in mediocrity, then I will better not live.
09:31If I have to live in bondages, then life is not worth it.
09:37Getting it?
09:39See, it must be confusing because I am saying both the things.
09:42On one hand I say, you have to be very honest about your mistakes.
09:48You must know that your mistakes reveal the fact of yourself.
09:54So they can't even be called as mistakes.
09:57On one hand, I am saying that you must really know how ugly your face has become.
10:04And how weak your inner self has become.
10:07On one hand I am saying that.
10:09That our fact is weakness.
10:12On the other hand, I am saying our potential is greatness.
10:16Both these have to be remembered at the same time.
10:19If you remember only one of these, then there will be problem.
10:22Remember both of these.
10:24Yes, I am down and out at this moment.
10:26And I'll honestly admit that.
10:29But equally, I'll always remember that each human being is born for greatness.
10:36Greatness is my destiny.
10:38Never compromise on that greatness.
10:42Never compromise on the destiny you are born for.
10:47Remember this, always.
10:52Does that make sense?
10:54Never compromise on the destiny.
10:55Love.
10:57Dear God.
