OpenAI has secured a $200 million one-year contract with the U.S. Defense Department, according to CNBC. The Defense Department announced the one-year contract on Monday, following OpenAI’s earlier plan to work with Anduril on AI systems for national security. Anduril secured a $100 million defense contract in December, while Anthropic announced plans to provide its AI models to U.S. defense and intelligence agencies with Palantir and Amazon. OpenAI said the contract marks the first deal under its new OpenAI for Government initiative, which includes the ChatGPT Gov product. The program will provide U.S. government agencies with custom AI models, support, and product roadmap access for national security use.
