00:00I've always been interested in music
00:30I've always liked going on stages
00:32but I was very focused on just studying my academics
00:38but then one day I followed my brother to the SM Global Audition
00:46and they were interested in me
00:50and so while I was a trainee
00:53I wanted to become the best artist that I could ever possibly be
00:59You know I realized like ever since I was a trainee
01:05I've always dreamed of becoming a solo artist
01:07and so this moment really is a dream come true in a way
01:12and so I think my passion for just becoming an artist
01:18really making my own
01:21like putting my own voice, my own ideas, my own life, my story into music
01:25for the first time
01:26I think that passion really motivated me
01:29and my work ethic this time
01:31I think that's what I'm doing

05:12Knock it up
05:14해가 또 방안해
05:16This is a revolution
05:18I leave the 99
05:20Just to get the one
05:22Same key, 마지막에
05:23Turn your night aim
05:24Stay 마지막이, black game
05:26Only one more question, we mean
05:28That you're always here to blame
05:3099, yeah, you ain't listening
05:32Oh, oh
05:34Oh, oh
05:35Listen, listen
05:36Oh, oh, oh
05:37Oh, oh, oh
05:38Let me show you what I was born to be
05:42Let me show you what I was born to be
05:44Let me show you what I was born to be
05:46Let me show you what I was born to be
05:48How I was always been to be of yours
05:50Yeah, let's bring it back
05:52Oh
06:22Oh
06:24Oh
06:50No, it's very healing
06:54I really enjoyed the wind, I really enjoyed the view, the sound of the ocean
07:04and I've never performed 1999 like this before and I think it was a great experience
07:15because it wasn't on flat ground
07:17The floor, like the ground was, it was very bumpy
07:24but I think usually when I perform 1999 it's all about like finding the right camera,
07:32finding the right angle, but I think for this one it was just about the vibe and just you know
07:38being here and singing the song
07:40I'm not sure if you're going to be there and I'm not sure if you're going to be there
07:44You want to be there and I'm not sure if you're going to be there
07:47Do you feel like you're going to be there?
07:49My first ever solo album is called The First Fruit.
07:56And The First Fruit is an album that talks about my life.
08:05From Toronto to New York to Vancouver to Seoul.
08:11These are the four essential cities that built up my life.
08:18But you know, I think moving to so many different cities within 10 years or so,
08:30I always thought that was my complex.
08:33Because my circle of friends would always change every once in a while because I moved that much.
08:42And so I always felt like, what would it feel like if I just lived and grew up in one city only?
08:48And so I always kind of thought that that was my complex.
08:51But through this album I realized that that just brought more story and more context and more variety into my life.
08:59Like wherever you go, I think it's very important for you to know where your identity is grounded.
09:07And I always try to think about who I really am.
09:11And if you know who you really are, it doesn't matter whoever you're with or wherever you go, you can always still be yourself.
09:18And I think I kind of realized who I really want to be these days through this album actually.
09:25And now that I kind of know what kind of an artist I want to be,
09:42I think I've always dreamed of wanting to make the world a better place in a way through, you know, what I can do in this life.
09:57And if that's music for me, then that's also what I would like to put in my music too.
10:04So, yeah, I mean, I mean, but one thing that I would like to add on is that our time here is limited.
10:14But if you think about it, let's say, I think that the First Fruit album, for example, will last longer than my life.
10:25Like I said, there was a previous album before the First Fruit. You know how I said that?
10:31That album was called Man of the Sea, like Man of the Ocean.
10:39And I did drop that idea, but the First Fruit as well, it really talks about my life and like how from Toronto to Seoul, it was a journey.
10:52And I think, you know, whether you travel in the air or if you travel by sea, it's like, it really signifies a journey, I think.
11:02And so when I look at the Sea or the Ocean, I really think of Journey as well.
11:06And so it's really interesting for me to be here after my album release, having this interview in front of the ocean.
11:14And I don't know, yeah, it kind of feels cool to be here.
11:24I'm so glad you love me.
11:40You're the only one who holds me.
11:48I can't understand what love is now, cause you showed me what love looks like.
11:54My whole life has been a blessing since 1999.
12:00Cause your love is too much, too much, always.
12:06I know you love me too much, too much, always.
12:11I totally need myself today.
12:14Cause finding you is worth everything.
12:17Yes, your love is too much, too much, always.
12:23All your love is too much, too much, always.
12:29Yes, your love is too much, too much, always.
12:35Yeah, this is coming from the heart, ain't for me to, yeah.
12:42A believer, who the mic speak of, keep close, eager.
12:45I try to be the worlds, but the world ain't at a soul, yeah.
12:48I know how the rhythm goes, I know how the river flows.
12:52I know now where I belong, I know how they all be talking.
12:55But I know that he look from above and knows how to grow a soul.
12:58Just always gotta know that your love is too much, too much, always.
13:05I know you love me too much, too much, always.
13:11I totally need myself today.
13:14Cause finding you is worth everything.
13:17Cause your love is too much, too much, always.
13:23All your love is too much, too much, always.
13:27Always.
13:29Yes, your love is too much, too much, always.
13:34Yeah, always wonder who the person was inside the mirror.
13:39From Toronto and my sea, Vancouver, so I wake up.
13:42All my life, all my life, all my life, all my life.
13:46I've been trying to find out who it was.
13:48All my life, I've been wanting way more than what the world could ever give.
13:53Yeah, I tell you no way to look.
13:55Put in the inner fruit.
13:57I won't live with you what I received already.
14:00Too much, too much, always.
14:05I know you love me too much, too much, always.
14:11I totally need myself today.
14:15Cause finding you is worth everything.
14:18Yes, I know there's too much, too much, always.
14:23All your love.
14:25Yeah, more than I can never imagine.
14:28Too much, too much, always.
14:31Yeah, yeah, that I can never imagine.
14:34Too much, too much, always.
14:37Yeah, yeah, alright.
14:39I know your love is too much.
14:41I'm riding to you with love.
14:43It's awful moments like this.
14:44Yeah, alright.
14:45I know your love is too much.
14:47I'm riding to you with love.
14:49It's awful moments like this.
14:50Yeah.
14:51I know your love is too much.
14:53It's the only love we're fighting for.
14:55I had to get this off my chest right before I left this album.
14:59Man, I know your love is too much.
15:01I know your love is too much.
15:03Too much, too much, always
15:23I think nature...
15:28It reminds me of how small I am in a way.
15:31Like, there's something definitely so grand.
15:34Because nature is just that amazing.
15:37I don't know, yeah.
15:38I think nature is something...
15:40It's the most beautiful part of the world.
15:43And so to perform in the middle of a place
15:49where I'm surrounded by nature,
15:52it felt very, very special.
15:54I think I kind of got emotional when I sang too much.
15:58And I'm just like...
16:00I think the setting was just so perfect.
16:02And so it was my honor to be able to perform here today.
16:06And I think I made a lot of great experiences.
16:12Too much is the last song of my album.
16:15And, uh...
16:17I, uh...
16:21Talks a lot about my faith.
16:23So the track right before Too Much is Mom's Interlude.
16:28And it's a conversation that I'm having with my mom.
16:31And I asked her...
16:33What do you think about me making this album called The First Fruit?
16:36And, you know, putting my faith into...
16:38Like, the story of my faith and...
16:40My faith into the album for the first time.
16:43And she was like...
16:44I'm proud and...
16:46I really do believe it's like...
16:49It's a first fruit.
16:51And so it leads right into Too Much.
16:53And, um...
16:55It's really just...
16:56A song about my faith.
16:59Yeah.
17:00And so...
17:01I think that's why it kind of...
17:03Made it more emotional...
17:05Singing it here...
17:06In the middle of nature.
17:08So...
17:09So...
17:11NCT is...
17:15Um...
17:16It's kind of like home for me.
17:17Because that's where it all began.
17:18And...
17:19Um...
17:20You know...
17:21I...
17:22Yeah.
17:23Um...
17:24I think NCT is like home.
17:25It's where it all began.
17:26And...
17:27Um...
17:28You know...
17:29I...
17:30Yeah.
17:31Um...
17:32I think NCT is like home.
17:33It's where it all began.
17:34And, um...
17:35The very beginning of my journey as a...
17:36As a...
17:37As a...
17:38As a singer.
17:39And...
17:40Like I said, this album...
17:41Talks about my life.
17:42And...
17:43It talks about...
17:44All of the cities I've been to.
17:45And so when you reach to...
17:46The Seoul section.
17:47I start off with a song called...
17:4882 Pressing.
17:49And...
17:50It's a song...
17:51Featuring an NCT member.
17:52Haechan.
17:53And...
17:54For obvious reasons...
17:55It's like home.
17:56It's where it all began.
17:57It's where it all began.
17:58And, um...
17:59The very beginning of my journey as a...
18:00As a singer.
18:01And...
18:02Like I said, this album...
18:03Talks about my life.
18:04And...
18:05It talks about...
18:06For obvious reasons...
18:08I wanted to do it with him.
18:09But...
18:10Just like...
18:11Like cinematically in a way.
18:13Or just like from a broader point of view.
18:15It also means how...
18:17Like I really wanted to use an NCT member...
18:20For the first song of Seoul.
18:22So I think that's what...
18:23And that's kind of like what home is.
18:25Like no matter how far you go...
18:26Home will always be home.
18:27So...
18:28No matter how much time passes...
18:30Home will always be home.
18:31And so NCT is really...
18:34That...
18:35Part of my...
18:36Uh...
18:37Story.
18:38And, um...
18:39I see myself...
18:43You know...
18:44Like I can see myself striving...
18:47As far as I wish to go.
18:49As a solo artist.
18:50Um...
18:53And being very accurate with...
18:56Like being very specific...
18:59With the path that I wish to go to.
19:01Like...
19:02That I wish to go on.
19:03So it's not just about being like...
19:04Oh...
19:05I want to be successful.
19:06Oh...
19:07I want to be...
19:08You know...
19:09Rich.
19:10It's like...
19:11Like...
19:12Specifically speaking...
19:13I want to do this...
19:14With...
19:15The influence that I have.
19:16I want to...
19:17Um...
19:18And...
19:19One of the biggest...
19:20Examples is...
19:21Lee Young-ji.
19:22And she...
19:23Like...
19:24Even before I ever contacted her...
19:26She kinda gave me a shout out...
19:28Saying that she really...
19:30Uh...
19:31That she was a fan.
19:32Um...
19:33And so I was always grateful for her.
19:35But then...
19:36Just like...
19:37I think when I kinda...
19:40Reach out...
19:42To another artist for a feature or something...
19:44I really hope that...
19:46It's very authentic.
19:47It's not like fake or it's not...
19:49You know...
19:50Transactional.
19:51I want it to be like...
19:52You know...
19:53I want the featuring artist to be...
19:55Happy about this as well.
19:56As much as I am.
19:58And so...
19:59I was very very glad...
20:00To...
20:01Reach out to her and...
20:03Ask her to be on the song.
20:05And she was very willing as well.
20:08Even the video...
20:10And all the stages even after that.
20:12And um...
20:13Code Kunst as well.
20:15He's a producer...
20:16Um...
20:17That I reached out for the first time.
20:18And he uh...
20:19He made Toronto's Window.
20:21The first track of the album.
20:22And he was so like...
20:24Compassionate.
20:25Like he was so...
20:26Yeah.
20:27He was...
20:28He was so like...
20:29He was so like...
20:30Eager.
20:31And very very compassionate.
20:32About...
20:33This album.
20:34And showed a lot of love.
20:35And so...
20:36It felt very...
20:37Wholesome to work with all these new people.
20:39And lastly even Crush.
20:40He uh...
20:41He...
20:42At first was so busy.
20:43That he said that he couldn't do it.
20:45For the first time.
20:46But then...
20:47I was like...
20:48Ah...
20:49Then maybe...
20:50I shouldn't even use this song.
20:51And so I contacted him...
20:53One last time.
20:54And then he was like...
20:55Alright.
20:56I think I could do it now.
20:57And so...
20:58I think all these different...
21:00Relationships and connections and stories...
21:03Eventually they all add up to create one album.
21:06And each connection holds a story of its own.
21:09So it's just all these different energies...
21:12Coming together to create one album.
21:15And...
21:16And so I'm very very grateful...
21:18For all of them.
21:19And...
21:20And...
21:21To everyone who just...
21:22Participated in this album.
21:23I'm very grateful for all of them.
21:24So...
21:25Proud.
21:26Yeah.
21:27Proud.
21:28Yeah.
21:39Oneness?
21:40Wow.
21:47Wow.
21:48Are...
21:49Um...
21:55I think...
21:59We're all one.
22:01I think oneness...
22:03Is such a powerful word.
22:05Um...
22:06And...
22:08I think...
22:09It's kind of like...
22:11It's kind of like...
22:12You know how I talked about...
22:14My story with Crush.
22:15My story with Youngji.
22:16My story with Haechan.
22:18My story with my mom.
22:19My story with...
22:20All of the other people who participated in the album.
22:24It's all different stories.
22:25All different bodies.
22:27But then...
22:28They all...
22:29Like...
22:30It's all...
22:31Combined...
22:32To create one body of work.
22:33And that's the First Food album.
22:35Um...
22:36I think we're...
22:37In a huge...
22:38In a much...
22:39Huge...
22:40And broader point of view.
22:41I think we're all just like...
22:43Different bodies.
22:44But we're all eventually...
22:47A part of one body.
22:48In the end.
22:49I don't know.
22:50That's kind of my...
22:52Philosophy.
22:53Um...
22:54And so...
22:55Even like nature as well.
22:56Us living in this world.
22:59The sun...
23:00That could give us...
23:01Vitamin D.
23:02Like all of this.
23:03Like it's one.
23:04You know?
23:05Um...
23:06I think...
23:08It's really important...
23:10To...
23:12Kind of have love for humanity.
23:15And um...
23:18Yeah.
23:19We're all one in a way.
23:21Yeah.
23:22And so...
23:23We all have our different parts.
23:24We should all do...
23:25We all...
23:26I think...
23:27Like in our separate lives...
23:28We should all do...
23:29What we were...
23:31Like in our own different ways...
23:33We should all...
23:34Do what we can...
23:35To bring to the world...
23:36What the world needs...
23:37So that'll eventually...
23:38Create one body.
23:39Yeah.
23:40I don't know.
23:41That was a long answer.
23:43Is that okay?
23:44Okay.
23:45Okay.
23:48Thank you so much.
23:49Thank you so much.
23:50Thank you so much.
23:52Thank you so much.
23:53Woo...
23:54Thank you so much.
23:55Okay.
23:58It's cold.
23:59Thank you, thank you, thank you.
