00:00start off with the sweepstakes saga that continues in louisiana looks like at least for the time
00:06being there will be no sweepstakes casino betting going on there yeah but this one's interesting
00:12because i mean to your point we've seen a lot of you know this the sweepstakes operators are kind
00:17of that second of three waves of things trying to kind of get into sports betting without
00:22technically being sports betting the first being dfs 2.0 then sweepstakes and now of course we have
00:27the prediction markets um but you know legislators act a little bit delayed and now we're seeing
00:33plenty of lawmakers say hold on this is weird we got to figure this out we got to either tighten
00:38the regulations define things what have you um and we've seen a couple states ban them uh you know
00:45we've had connecticut governor ned lamont just signed that bill up in montana they signed that
00:51bill you've got new york moving forward um in fact so much so that all a ton of the sweepstakes
00:57operators pulled out um but in louisiana you know unanimously a ban passed both the senate and the
01:05house every lawmaker voted to say yes we want to ban these well you go to the governor landry and he
01:11went ahead and vetoed it and he said this isn't needed we have strong regulations we we're you know
01:17watching everything as it is this doesn't need to happen so i'm vetoing this um unsure of if a veto
01:25override is going to happen because you know as noted it was unanimous uh to get through but
01:31something like four bills have been vetoed in louisiana since like 1972 or something like that
01:37so it's not the precedent to do that in louisiana is not there um so we'll see what happens and but
01:43ultimately it basically comes down to the governor saying i don't think we need to do this because
01:47our gaming regulators are already really strong and the the laws already say that this isn't okay
