Transcript
00:00I had to beg Molly and Danny to let me wear these together.
00:04You're kidding!
00:04They thought I was absolutely bananas.
00:06They wanted to take me to a hospital.
00:08And, um, maybe admit me, but I love them together.
00:12Hello, Glamour.
00:14We are the cast of And Just Like That.
00:16And today we are going to be looking through some past and present, I think, fashion looks.
00:30Oh!
00:32Yes!
00:33Very exciting.
00:34It's seen big with Natasha in the Hamptons.
00:37Is it you?
00:38Hey, what are you doing here?
00:42What am I doing here?
00:44What are you doing here?
00:46That was a bra.
00:47This was a bra company that we all wore underneath, like, our costume.
00:52No, it was super simple.
00:54Cosabella.
00:55And maybe Cosabella strapless.
00:56Is it you that holds my hair while I vomit?
00:58Don't. It could be.
00:59Who else would it be?
01:00I don't remember.
01:01Not important.
01:02This is falling in the pond.
01:03This is crazy.
01:04Falling in the pond.
01:05It's good to see you.
01:13I think I had to get a tetanus shot that day.
01:15You did.
01:16Cos you cut your foot.
01:17I cut my foot in the pond.
01:18In the pond.
01:19Something sharp.
01:20And they poured hydrogen peroxide over you when you got out.
01:22It was heroic.
01:23It was wonderful.
01:24But there were so many times where we were really making big decisions about budget.
01:28The Richard Tyler dress was one of those things, as was the Christian Dior dress that they,
01:32I think, picked up at Bergdorf's, which we purchased, which wasn't something we typically
01:37did for a costly.
01:38And it was a big deal.
01:39I remember Pat and Molly saying, there's a dress.
01:42It's a Christian Dior dress.
01:43It's X amount of dollars.
01:45So if we get it, we have to use it.
01:49And the Richard Tyler getting multiples, people were like, yeah, you have to buy two.
01:53So those things, too, were like conversations.
01:56Yeah.
01:57Like we were like, okay, is this the one?
01:59Cos we can't take it back and it can't ever be worn again.
02:01It's ruined and burned.
02:03And just when Miranda decided she was the only woman in New York with any real perspective
02:08on men, there he was.
02:13Eric Asshole.
02:14The former love of her life.
02:16Ooh.
02:17Cynthia Nixon.
02:18Two of my all time favorites.
02:19Cynthia Nixon.
02:20Two of my all time favorites.
02:21Cynthia Nixon.
02:22This is now the Halloween costume of Miranda, which is so fantastic.
02:26What?
02:27The people dress as this on Halloween.
02:29Really?
02:30It's fantastic.
02:31Oh, that's so great.
02:32And I just rewatched this episode.
02:33It is so good.
02:34It is the most iconic, right?
02:36She's just wearing this because she hasn't made any effort, but then she runs into an old
02:40boyfriend that she has to hide from and feels bad that she is so dressed down.
02:43But she's so cute.
02:44She's so beyond cute.
02:45She's very cute.
02:46Yeah.
02:47You've just scolded us because all we talk about is men and sex.
02:50Okay.
02:51That's it.
02:52I'm out of here.
02:54All we talk about anymore is big or balls or small dicks.
03:00How does it happen that four such smart women have nothing to talk about but boyfriends?
03:05In that outfit?
03:06No, you're wearing a green sweater that I personally don't know.
03:07Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
03:08Oh, wow.
03:09At least this is later in the episode you're walking.
03:11So you're the one that's stealing the clothes.
03:13Not me.
03:14Definitely.
03:15Definitely.
03:16I take full responsibility.
03:17I hope what I'm going to say will save you a lot of time and energy.
03:21He's just not that into you.
03:24So move on.
03:26Have a great day.
03:27That is the one that I'm wearing when I try to explain to the poor working women on the steps that he's just not that into you.
03:34Oh.
03:35Good one.
03:36Is that Tupperware food?
03:37Sorry.
03:38Is that Cynthia walking to the set?
03:39No, no, no, no.
03:40Is it celery?
03:41No, that is Miranda with her box lunch.
03:42That's your box lunch.
03:43Okay, okay, okay.
03:44None of them?
03:45They were gay.
03:46It's imaginary.
03:47There must be someone in Gramercy Park that you'd have imaginary sex with.
03:51You're being too picky.
03:52Charlotte.
03:53Oh, Charlotte.
03:54For some reason, people, when they do a page of their favorite outfits of Charlotte's, this shearling thing will end up there.
03:59It's really cute.
04:00What's the scene?
04:01I was sitting at a little table with you and I don't know what we're talking about, but it was cold.
04:04And I have on a cap and a carry sweater that Isaac Mizrahi knitted for that character.
04:09And a tartan.
04:10Yes.
04:11We were cold and so we're bundled in a way.
04:12It was windy.
04:13Yeah, it was windy.
04:14As Charlotte looked at the titles, the woman's comfort book, the path to love, excuse me, your life is waiting.
04:21Please understand me too.
04:23She couldn't bear the thought that she belonged there.
04:26I just carried this handbag the other day.
04:28I love it.
04:29These are the polo that benefits breast cancer.
04:32Right.
04:33Which is really so great.
04:34I don't know if they still make them.
04:35Was this the Pat Fields era?
04:37Oh, yeah.
04:38I remember this day so well.
04:39What is with this train?
04:40This is crazy.
04:41It's not crazy.
04:42It's Valentino.
04:43That's the Philip Treacy headpiece.
04:44Yeah, could you see?
04:45Yeah.
04:46I could not see.
04:47Was it very painful?
04:48They stretched it out the wires a little bit.
04:49It wasn't that heavy.
04:50It was wearable.
04:51Oh, that's very tight.
04:52But you couldn't see?
04:54I mean, there was a lot going on.
04:55I could see.
04:56When I say I can see, I can see everything around me.
04:58I was just focused on just keeping my head up.
05:00Did you know how dramatic it looked or were you just trying to keep your balance?
05:03I was trying to keep my balance.
05:04But wasn't there a whole thing about they couldn't shoot anything afterward because it left imprints
05:09in your face?
05:10They did.
05:11It did.
05:12MPK had a couple scenes after that, but we couldn't do them.
05:13We couldn't do them.
05:14No.
05:15I had waffle marks.
05:16Yeah.
05:17Full on wire.
05:18I thought it was worth it.
05:19It was worth it.
05:20This fashion always is hot.
05:21Mary, stop twitching.
05:22This is, of course, my Met Gala look, which they constructed for me so beautifully with one of the Gilded Age costume builders.
05:30Incroyable.
05:31Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
05:32Incroyable.
05:33And that hat.
05:34That necktie.
05:35Ha, ha, ha, ha.
05:36Ha, ha, ha.
05:37Ha, ha, ha.
05:38Ha, ha, ha.
05:39Ha, ha, ha.
05:40Ha, ha, ha.
05:41Ha, ha, ha.
05:42Ha, ha, ha.
05:43Ha, ha, ha.
05:44Ha, ha, ha.
05:45Ha, ha, ha.
05:46Ha, ha, ha.
05:47Ha, ha, ha.
05:48Ha, ha, ha.
05:49Ha, ha, ha, ha.
05:50I know.
05:51Oh, my God.
05:52I love this so much.
05:53I can talk about, so this day has been discussed quite a decent amount.
05:56Yes, a lot.
05:57But I will say that this pair of trousers, clam diggers, whatever you want to call them, and this shirt were separate.
06:03And I had to beg Molly and Danny to let me wear these together.
06:07You're kidding.
06:08They thought I was absolutely bananas.
06:10They wanted to take me to a hospital and maybe admit me, but I love them together.
06:16I had loved that shirt all season.
06:18I've been wanting to find a reason to wear that, which they got at a vintage stop.
06:23Mm.
06:24And the trousers were great.
06:25And Adrienne, who's the most extraordinary tailor, made them fit me.
06:28I agree.
06:29And then she looked perfect.
06:30I love this outfit because I've not worn culottes ever, but because they were beige and my shoulders.
06:39I was just like, great.
06:40It's also like a uniform.
06:42And the shoes are so great, too.
06:44You know what?
06:45It's kind of the same outfit.
06:46Right?
06:47Yes.
06:48Well, Seema wears a lot of browns.
06:49Yeah.
06:50Which I love because I am brown.
06:51The neutrals.
06:52No one puts me in brown.
06:53I remember something you said very early on when you first started on the show.
06:57You said, who but Sex and the City would put a brown girl in a brown dress?
07:00It's really.
07:01Right?
07:02That they were always putting you in like turquoise and pink and orange.
07:05Yeah.
07:06And they went totally the other way.
07:08Totally.
07:09I was very impressed.
07:10Yeah.
07:11This is us at the Red Rooster.
07:12This is Red Rooster.
07:13Yeah.
07:14Talking about my going to meet Rosie O'Donnell in Times Square.
07:17Oh.
07:18And I will just say we had a very ambitious pair of heels that I was supposed to be in.
07:24And we changed them because we realized I was going to be standing on a subway grate and
07:27that was going to be very dangerous.
07:29But I also want to point out when I go and see Rosie who is playing Mary in Times Square,
07:34she has just seen Wicked and ends up singing some Wicked to me.
07:37Of course she does.
07:38So of course I am Elphaba.
07:40Right.
07:41So of course they put me in green.
07:43Right.
07:44Love it.
07:45The big memory of this day is that A, Chris Jackson had pulled together a bunch of his
07:49pals from his singing career.
07:52So great in his real life.
07:53In his real life.
07:54Yeah.
07:55And at a certain point in the day he sang.
07:58Yes.
07:59Acapella.
08:00With his group.
08:01Acapella.
08:02And it was unbelievable.
08:03It's in the show.
08:04It's in the show.
08:05Oh it is in the show.
08:06Okay.
08:07And that there was really good food all day.
08:09I mean.
08:10Yeah there was really good food.
08:11We were dying.
08:12We don't always eat.
08:13Oh no.
08:14There was little nibbles that we could have.
08:15We were fighting.
08:16Ladies take it over.
08:17What do you think of?
08:18I love our outfits.
08:19I do love.
08:20I love that photo.
08:21Yes.
08:22We were, you know, delirious.
08:23I can just speak for myself.
08:24It's so hot on Governor's Island.
08:26Right in that scene.
08:27Like scorching.
08:28I shopped for five days there, correct?
08:30No.
08:31I think we did too.
08:32It felt like it.
08:33But I loved my outfit.
08:34The outfit was a highlight and being with Nicole out there in the middle of the harbor
08:38was incredible.
08:39This was one of those days where I was so jealous of your outfit.
08:43Yeah.
08:44And I felt like a piece of candy my grandmother used to have in her church bag.
08:49I mean the tinge, but your outfit was so innocent and sexy at the same time.
08:56Yeah.
08:58And I just was like, I wish I was in that.
08:59Aw.
09:00But you know, Nicole, when you wear these outfits and when we see them in a scene,
09:03I realize how comedy and the real scene works.
09:08Yeah.
09:09And I noticed that last night at the screening.
09:10It does work.
09:11Yeah.
09:12It does not play.
09:13She's like, Nicole, you are wearing the visor.
09:15And then I put it on and I smiled and then she hit the bell.
09:20Do you guys, every time you're done with an outfit, do you ring the bell?
09:23Yes.
09:24No.
09:25Oh, I ring the bell every single time.
09:27Yeah.
09:28I have to have an outfit that they're super excited about to get a ding.
09:32Tell me about the bell.
09:33It's a bell that sits on the desk of a hotel.
09:35You know, when you come and you want to get service.
09:37And Molly always just rings it when we complete an outfit.
09:41When we complete a look.
09:42And that can be complete to the degree that you have shoes, belt, bag.
09:48You might not have all the jewelry, but it's enough to hang your hat on, so to speak.
09:52Enough to show Michael when Michael comes and does the rounds of the book.
09:56And Molly always has a book of every single thing.
09:59She shows him, you know, Sarita will be in this.
10:01Sarah Jess will be in this.
10:02And then Kristen joins the scene and she's going to be in that.
10:04And then in the scene with all five of them, these are the two choices.
10:07Because I'm not sure.
10:08I haven't seen Nicole yet, but I like these.
10:10And there's a book.
10:11We have long fittings.
10:12They can be two and a half to four hours to seven hours.
10:15They're multiple.
10:16They can happen at 11 o'clock at night to three in the morning.
10:19You're standing there being pinned, throwing stuff on, running back to the set,
10:23doing a scene, coming back, pulling clothes off, putting clothes on.
10:27I mean, it's a very long, long, long worthwhile process.
10:31But it is not silly.
10:33It's not unimportant.
10:35But it's fun.
10:36Yeah.
10:37But it's really, really fun.
10:39Yeah.
10:40But it is a thing.
10:41It's a real effort.
10:42It's work, too.
10:43It's part of the work.
10:44It's part of the creative process.
10:45We could all go on and on and on and on and on about Molly and Danny.
10:47I wouldn't say that about other shows I've done.
10:49True.
10:50They're amazing people, but the experience is so creative.
10:53So creative and so joyful.
10:55It's unique.
10:57It is.
