00:00I was so honoured when I was asked and actually it was I think the biggest thing was for me that
00:09that as I've said before that the community that is the Isle of Man is something that's
00:15really special and really unique and especially as somebody that's not from the Isle of Man I
00:19think I I see that like it's I think sometimes when you're in it you don't always appreciate
00:24what you have in that and it is something that's really special and yeah I'm a mum of five and so
00:33I'm aware of how a how busy life can be and also that from the moment you have a child you worry
00:40about everything and that's when everything's plain sailing let alone when there's anything
00:45additional um and Rebecca House when I learned a little bit about it it was very clear the impact
00:55that they were having not only the children that they were providing the care for but on the the
00:59families as well just to give them that breathing space and also to create a community within a
01:05community because it's very isolating when you know everything isn't that textbook a to z that you think
01:12it's going to be and you know your closest friends and family might not necessarily be able to
01:17understand or to help especially when there's a medical need involved to be able to have a space
01:22to bring your children where you know that they're looked after to the same level that you would be
01:29doing yourself um it was a real honor for me to be able to kind of be a part of that journey and
01:35trying to sort of raise that awareness and yeah to dispel that myth of sort of what hospice
01:40look like that actually it's a lot more about life and living than it is about you know
01:44illness and dying yeah I think that all parents once you have children when you ever see anything
01:52or hear anything or read anything about a child that's that's ill or needs that support it it hits
01:58slightly different anyway from the moment you become a parent um and yeah like we have five
02:04children and obviously they're all completely different they all need completely different things and
02:09we have one of our children that does need you know a bit a bit of different different stuff
02:14different support uh to the others and it definitely was something that I felt there's no textbook to
02:20that and it was a time where I felt very isolated at the beginning of that and so I'm fully aware of
02:25the impact of sort of having a community and people to understand that to sort of to share that
02:32journey with so yeah the biggest aim for me is to just kind of bring that awareness and also to to make
02:41it that little bit more to share those personal stories and experiences that are there I think that
02:46actually the best thing that Rebecca House can do is is that opening its opening its doors so that
02:53people can see the incredible things that it's doing and tell those stories and I mean I've I've heard
02:58maybe 10 already in the time that I've been here today that just solidify like this is why Rebecca
03:05House is important and why it's important that it gets recognized in its own right because of the
03:11difference it's making to those families so I think yeah just to kind of remind people a little bit that
03:16actually this is the amazing stuff that's going on this is the difference that it's making in people's
03:20lives and you you never know when that's something that could affect you or your close family so you
03:26know it's it is important for everybody to have that awareness I was really nervous I was really
03:31nervous as I just sort of touched on in my thing I thought I hope everyone's not disappointed by
03:35the fact that it's me um but yeah it's everyone's been really lovely so I needn't have worried yeah
