00:00Cihyej jest to festival of electronic music, art and science
00:03which is located on the former shore of Aral Sea
00:06in the city of Muinak
00:08and it expresses creativity
00:10and shows unity between the creators, local citizens
00:15and the different partners
00:17and our community.
00:23Once the fourth largest inland sea in the world
00:27Uzbekistan's diminishing Aral Sea
00:29is a hauntingly beautiful symbol of ecological decline
00:33and unexpected rebirth.
00:35Every summer this Dahir Festival
00:38transforms the Aral's dry expanse
00:41into a pulsating celebration of sound, art and survival.
00:46The festival is held in Karakal, Pakistan
00:49in the former fishing village of Muinak
00:51now dubbed the Ship Graveyard
00:53since its waters were diverted for crop irrigation
00:56during Soviet rule.
00:57This annual three-day electronic music extravaganza
01:01has been running since 2018.
01:03We are expecting more than 2,500 people
01:08tourists and guests from around Uzbekistan
01:12Central Asian countries
01:14Europe, Asia, United States
01:18so from around the world
01:20everyone is coming to Cihye this week.
01:22Turning this parched seabed into a gathering place
01:25with a line-up of local and international performers
01:28the event raises environmental awareness
01:31while boosting the local economy
01:33through youth tourism.

01:57can visit the Ecological Museum of Muinak.
02:00Irrigation started in the 50s
02:02after the World War II
02:03so Uzbekistan was the main cotton producing republic
02:08in the USSR
02:10and the Virgin Lands were used for cotton fields
02:14cotton and rice
02:16and all the water went to be distributed
02:22so not all the water came to Aral Sea.

02:43Nukas
02:44which is famous for more than just being a gateway
02:46to the vanishing Aral Sea.
02:48Lukas is home to the Savitsky Art Museum
02:51inside you'll find one of the most extraordinary collections
02:55of Soviet-era art
02:57saved and gathered by the collector Igor Savitsky.
03:01Experimental styles were deemed anti-Soviet
03:04and much of the art was destroyed
03:06but Savitsky made it his mission
03:09to save as much of it as he could.
03:11If you are travelling in Uzbekistan
03:13or in Central Asia
03:15you should definitely come to this museum
03:17to the Louvre in the desert.
03:20Savitsky himself a Russian painter
03:22as well as an archaeologist and ethnographer
03:24fell in love with Karakar Pakistan on his travels.
03:27Besides collecting modernist works
03:30he gathered and painstakingly restored
03:32Karakar Pakistan heritage items
03:34many of which are displayed in the museum today.
03:41Another institute celebrating Karakar Pakistan culture
03:44and two of its most famous ambassadors
03:46is the museum of Amet and Ayam Khan Shamratov.
03:50Amet was a statesman and a writer
03:52and his wife Ayam Khan was a star of the stage
03:55and a traditional Karakar Pakistan musician
03:58known as a Bakshi
04:00who has inspired a new generation of Bakshi performers.
04:03This education part is the fellowship of the people of Karakar Pakistan
04:06and the history of our communities, our heritage
04:07and our people and our society
04:13and the surrealism of our society, our age
04:14and to build a future.
04:16This effort is for us to have a

04:22it is the most important to them.
