In a tragic incident, four people lost their lives and more than 50 sustained injuries after a 32-year-old pedestrian bridge collapsed in Maharashtra's Pune on Sunday, June 15. While three deceased have been identified as Chandrakant Salve, Rohit Mane and Vihaan Mane, one body remains unidentified. The old bridge on the Indrayani river in Pune's Maval tehsil is suspected to have collapsed due to crowding by tourists. Maharashtra Minister of Disaster Management Girish Mahajan visited the spot after the tragedy and said that tourists had ignored the warning board at the bridge. The state government has announced a compensation of INR 5 lakh each to the kin of the deceased.
