J.J. Spaun says he used a Tiger Woods lesson of 'just staying there' to help him lift his first major title
Transcript
00:00I was having lunch with Max Homa at home.
00:03We live in the same area.
00:04We belong at the same club.
00:05And he was telling a Tiger story where he's like,
00:09as long as you just like are still there,
00:11like just you don't have to do anything crazy,
00:14especially at a US Open.
00:15He's like, Tiger said, this, this would happen.
00:18And you know, the wind will switch,
00:19but you just got to just stay there.
00:21Like even if you're four back, like you just got to stay there.
00:24Like you don't have to do anything crazy.
00:26And I kind of was thinking about that out there this afternoon
00:29where, you know, I was four back maybe going back out
00:34after the delay and then, you know, I made some good pars,
00:37nothing crazy, and got a really good birdie.
00:41And then next thing you know, I'm like tied for the lead, I think.
00:44And you know, within four holes of the restart.
00:48So that's just kind of goes back to that.
00:50Like you just try to just stay there.
00:52Like don't, you don't have to do anything crazy,
00:54especially at a US Open.
00:55So all those things came true.
00:59Because we don't have to do anything crazy.
01:00Like you said.
01:02So let's hear it.
01:03It's okay.
01:04We're going to have to do anything to say,
01:05you know.
01:06I'm not sure.
01:07If you have one thing,
01:09you know.
01:10If you have two answers,
01:12you're not sure to see the answer to the answer.
01:13But that's enough.
01:14If you've got two questions in the answer,
01:16you're not sure.
01:17You're not sure to hear that.
01:19I'm sure to have one answer.
01:21So you're going to go out,
01:23you're going to get one thing.
01:25You'll tap your mouth.
01:25You're going to get one thing.
01:26It's okay.
