00:00Have you ever been in a situation where you think something isn't right but not
00:03sure how to speak up about it? A lot of the other disabled young people have
00:07been in the same situation and it sucks. Everyone deserves to be and feel safe
00:12especially by the supports and services you use. That's why we co-designed Right
00:16to Be Heard. Right to Be Heard is a website created by and for disabled
00:20young people. On it is information, resources, personal experiences and tips
00:25to help you learn about your rights, recognize when something might be wrong
00:28and speak up about your concerns. Help by educating people how they have a right
00:34to be treated. If they're treated badly by NDIS they might not know it and so by
00:40using the website they can go, oh I'm not supposed to be treated like this. When to
00:44speak to a trusted adult. If you need further advice to how to collect
00:49evidence prior to making the complaint. Seeing that you know these information is
00:54informed by people who actually do share your experiences or have very
00:58similar experiences can probably give you some comfort to know that yeah you're
01:02not just alone in those situations.
01:04The target audience for the Right to Be Heard website are disabled young people on the NDIS.
01:10It's so important that disabled young people are able to get the opportunity to develop skills
01:15and get information and resources as to how to best self-advocate and represent themselves.
01:22And there's a section for NDIS providers, parents and carers with information and resources to help them
01:29understand how to best support the disabled young person in their lives. How to best support you.
01:34I hope this website will support disabled young people to feel more comfortable and confident in
01:40speaking up and advocating for their needs. And ensure that they're treated barely by NDIS service providers.
01:47I'd say if you're nervous about making a complaint, I think you have a right to speak up.
01:52It's not about causing trouble, it's about making sure you get the support you deserve.
01:56We as disabled young people have the right to be heard.
02:10We as disabled young people, you're contributed to being influenced by and motivated to gain connections for help well.
02:28That's useful, it's not about hearing you.
