00:00Combat in Dune Awakening is the fusion of melee, shields, range, abilities, and vehicles.

00:20As you progress, your tactical options expand, allowing you to express yourself through different styles of play.

00:30In the beginning, combat is a short, brutal affair.

00:39Do everything you can to knock your opponents off balance and open them up for a retaliating strike.

00:48Keep an eye on your stamina, or find yourself in trouble.

00:54Early abilities change the paradigm.

00:57Use the voice to force your enemies to come to you.

01:03Shigger wire claw to stagger an enemy.

01:07Knee charge into melee range.

01:09Ranged weapons like the mauler pistol allow you to maintain distance, and take down enemies from afar, until a shielded enemy enters the fray.

01:27Holtzman shields change the nature of combat.

01:29Their kinetic barrier can only be pierced by slow-moving objects.

01:35Fast on defense, slow on attack.

01:39Swords, daggers, kinjoids, and rapiers are effective for dealing with shielded enemies.

01:46But without a shield of your own, you will quickly be overwhelmed by enemy fire.

01:51But the shields also have a weakness beyond the slow blade.

01:58Ranged attacks cannot be fired from inside an active shield, creating a window of opportunity for the others to exploit.

02:11The drill shot rifle fires drilling darts that will attach to a shield and slowly pass through.

02:21The disruptor fires statically charged darts at variable speeds to overwhelm the power supply of the shield.
