00:00Okay gentlemen, you already know the rules. Let me remind you to keep it clean. Protect yourself at all times. Obey my commands at all times. Touch gloves. Touch gloves. Good luck to both.
00:11Let's get it.
00:41Moses in the red and black. Rogers of course in the green and blue. No shortage of confidence in that Moses-Stevenson family, is there?
00:50Well no, and that has been backed up by promoter Eddie Hearn who said that he feels that Moses could be one of the faces of American boxing for years to come.
01:00Well he's had some incredible tutelage over the years. Obviously growing up with Shakur Stevenson, they were inseparable when they were younger.
01:09Sparring together in their living rooms. Also said he got some sparring in with Raymond Ford who's sitting ringside.
01:15He sparred with Ford prior to Ford's title winning fight against Kolmatov a couple of years ago.
01:21And he's been in the ring with Terrence Crawford too, Sergio. So he's had some of the best instructors you can possibly have.
01:26And all those southpaws. That's the thing about this young man. He's a southpaw but he fights on the front foot really nicely.
01:31Most southpaws fight on the back foot wanting to utilize their boxing ability. He's an accurate counter puncher. Real relaxed on the front foot. Very gifted.
01:39He's a southpaw with power in that lead right hand as well. You saw one of those sweeping right hooks momentarily buckle Carl Rogers.
01:46But Moses didn't immediately jump on him there. A little bit of a timing or balance shot as he comes right down the middle with a wicked left hand.
01:54And what I like about Moses, he really digs down to the body. You really don't get these fighters that are 3-0 that dig down to the body as professionally as he does.
02:03I mean it's all that work that he's been getting in the gym but it's just so smooth.
02:09You can see that Moses didn't like that straight left hand to the body. He stopped punching.
02:12Look, Shakur Stevenson is one of the better pound-for-pound fighters to all of boxing today. But you can see shades of Shakur's fighting style in Zayquin Mosas.
02:30Obviously they have the same trainer, the grandfather. But you can see the bit of a step back, straight left hand right down the middle.
02:36They've got a lot of the same tools that they use in the ring.
02:39That's kind of a right hook there a moment ago. Sorry, Sergio.
02:42Rogers just, he has terrible technique. Guys like that, it's really hard. And you've got to be careful with guys like this.
02:49See little sneaky shots like that that Rogers threw in between. You've got to be careful. You've got to really pick them apart with a jab and of course body shots.
02:57Watch your heads, gentlemen. Watch your heads.
02:59But it could be headbutts. It could be elbows. It could be a tricky fight if you're not careful with the guys that are fundamentally unsound like Rogers.
03:06There's a combination there for Moses. Yes, we mentioned Rogers kind of oscillating between fighting disciplines, between MMA and kickboxing, now focused mainly on boxing.
03:16Moses thinks about another uppercut to the body there a moment ago, but pops to just pepper Rogers with a nice jab.
03:22Final 10 seconds of the opening round. Dominant one for the 20-year-old Zaquin Moses as we are underway here at the garden.
03:35Clear skies, plenty of sunshine, the perfect day for a family road trip. Next up, we have an absolute classic. So turn up the volume and enjoy.
03:54The all-new Tyron, with up to seven seats. Life comes in many sizes.
04:11Back live here in New York City. An excellent start for Zaquin Moses in our opening contest here against Carl Rogers.
04:39As round two begins.
04:51Chris, as you pointed out in the opening round, there are obvious reference points to Shakur Stevenson, who of course has been a mentor to him.
04:58And one of those that you can see, Moses not moving too much here.
05:02He's standing right in front of Rogers. He's always in punching range.
05:05Sometimes you'll get clipped like that. In the pocket feels like a little more than Shakur was early in his career and certainly more than he is right now.
05:15I mean, Shakur Stevenson is not a runner by any stretch, but he's very difficult to hit because of those, that great footwork and kind of the cat-like reflexes.
05:23Right now, early on in Moses' career, it seems like he's more comfortable kind of staying in there, banging it out a little bit more.
05:28The difference is, you said a cat-like. He's like a cheetah. Shakur sometimes jumps too far back by the race of power.
05:34But Moses, he's real relaxed on the front foot, and he doesn't step back as far as Shakur.
05:40He's his own type fighter, even though they're all softballs. They're all really high-fired IQ, but this guy really wants to dig down and dig the hard punches.
05:47You can see right there, a better body puncher than Shakur in Ford, in my opinion, at this level of his career.
05:53That body work is going to pay off as this fight progresses. Landed three or four really good shots to Rogers' midsection.
05:59I think it already is paying off. You can see wincing on the face of Carl Rogers as he's absorbed a couple terrific body shots.
06:07Make it three already in this round with the left hand from Zaquin Moses.
06:10Rogers again, just switching stances, doing the unorthodox stuff, Sergio, to build upon what you were saying in round one.
06:19Sometimes with super high-level amateurs, when you put them in with guys like Carl Rogers, who are MMA fighters as well,
06:26they're used to fighting elite tacticians. They're used to a rhythm that makes sense.
06:30And then you put them in with guys like Rogers, and it can be a little unnatural.
06:35Absolutely, because that's how you beat perfection, by being imperfect.
06:38You know, I fought an MMA fighter. Strong fighters, they're not fundamentally sound, but they do things that you're not a first in the scene.
06:44Carl Rogers, on paper, says that he's a southpaw. He started off orthodox, now it's a southpaw versus southpaw.
06:50Left-handers hate facing each other.
06:53Moses still finding that left hand of the body, even with Rogers, in the southpaw stance there a moment ago.
06:59Yeah, great accuracy on his punch. Another hallmark of Shakur Stevenson.
07:0430 seconds here of round two.
07:10Excellent step-back left-hand there for Moses.
07:13Yeah, Moses is really relaxed, man.
07:16I could see flashes of Shakur, and I definitely see flashes of Raymond Ford as well.
07:21You could just see that, that New Jersey style of boxing, and those body shots.
07:24That's what I'm really impressed with this kid, with only three fights.
07:27The fact that he digs down like that, like a seasoned pro.
07:32Closing moments here of another dominant round for Zaquin Moses.
07:35Hello, darlings, Aunt Helga.
07:48Futuristic scooters, old school website.
07:52Relax, web upgrades, I own them.
07:54Better design, e-commerce, and smart AI.
07:57Now you're fit for the future.
07:59I scoot off now.
08:01Your digital partner, I own us.
08:04Relax, and have fun.
08:19This is you.
08:20Hey, this is for everybody.
08:23Everybody that's watching.
08:24Your mom, everybody.
08:25This is for you.
08:26Your kids.
08:26You got no answer.
08:28Look, unorthodox combination to jump in, but look.
08:32Nice check right hook there by Moses.
08:36He let Rodgers be a little bit unorthodox, but it was that check left hook that caught the attention of Carl Rodgers.
08:43It's round three now underway.
08:46Zaquin Moses cruising through the first two rounds.
08:48We've mentioned some of his accolades.
08:51Of course, a three-time U.S. national amateur champion, but Chris, one thing, one of the other selling features of Moses, you know, when you get a Zaquin Moses press release, it's always going to mention that he has that amateur win over Kermel Moten.
09:04And what makes that most impressive is that he was far less experienced than Moten when they fought in the amateurs, and now, of course, Moten also regarded as one of the best prospects this week.
09:15Yeah, it was an excellent win, something that Zaquin brought up to us during our fighter meetings this week.
09:20And both these guys certainly very early on their boxing trajectories, but you could certainly project a couple years down the line, they both continue this ascent.
09:28That could be a terrific fight, going amateurs to pros.
09:30We've seen these fights turn into good fights.
09:32Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney being a prime example.
09:35When you have two guys with amateur history finally meeting in the pros, a lot of times they tend to turn out pretty well.
09:41Yeah, it's a pattern we've seen over the last couple of years, isn't it, with elite amateurs starting the trash talk early, and then it materializes once they're in title contention.
09:49Well, we've got a guy coming up in Terramoana, Terramoana, the heavyweight out of Australia, who during our fighter meetings kept talking about getting his lick back against Jalala, the two-time gold medalist who he's lost to twice in the amateur rank.
10:03So, these amateur fights, they can breed some contempt, they can breed some pretty good fights in the pros.
10:10Moses really aggressive with that jab coming forward.
10:14You know, he's looking for the stoppage.
10:15He's been really digging down to the body.
10:17He hasn't really caught Rodgers cleanly, but I love that jab.
10:20I love the fact that he's taking that jab downstairs, and that foot, that fate that he's throwing down there, that's what's opening up those body shots as well.
10:27A straight left hand, that's what he used to score that second-round knockout win over Alex Pellett.
10:34Shot not dissimilar to that one, and that was in April of this year on the Enestadionis undercard.
10:40Moses just missed with a home run left hook right now over the top.
10:44And I love the fact that he's not afraid to catch a punch with his glove.
10:49Normally, you want to make a fighter completely missed.
10:52He's willing to catch it to rolling counter.
10:55It's really impressive for a young kid, young kid with three fights only.
10:57Right hand of the body from Rodgers tries to climb the ladder and bring that right hand up top as we enter the final 30 seconds of round three.
11:09I think with Moses giving that shot right back, another left hand downstairs.
11:20Another good body shot again, and I do like that Moses is continuing to walk down Rodgers slowly, not getting over-anxious, not looking just to land one big shot, but walk him down and break him down.
11:32Yeah, and he's so relaxed.
11:33Normally, when you're a pressure fighter coming forward, you're doing a lot of body movement.
11:37He's just cool and relaxed.
11:44Water, water, water, water, water, water, water, water.
11:48Look, Dave, look.
11:50This motherfucker right there in your hands.
11:52You got him, Dave.
11:53You want to get his ass out of there?
11:55He ready to motherfucking lay down, all right?
11:57I see.
11:58All right, you see?
11:59The quote returns to DAZN on July 26th.
12:06That's Claressa Shields.
12:07Puts her undisputed heavyweight crown on the line against New Zealander Lanny Daniels.
12:14That's a Detroit-Michigan back in the Motor City for the quote.
12:19How you see it?
12:20You see everything.
12:21Let's see that last man, all right?
12:23All right?
12:24Let's go.
12:24Let's go.
12:25Yo, go get that motherfucker out there.
12:27Go get it.
12:28What's your face, bud?
12:29Definitely all at the pace.
12:33Interesting advice, Sergio, between rounds there.
12:35Zequin Moses clearly in control as we get to the second half of this fight.
12:39But his grandfather, Wally Moses, wants him to step on the gas here.
12:43Wants him to pick up a knockout.
12:44That's how much confidence they have in them.
12:45Normally, you don't want, you know, a young prospect to take too many chances.
12:49You're having control in the action.
12:51They have so much confidence in Moses' power and the fact that he knows what he's doing.
12:55So go for the knockout.
12:56I think if they are going to go for the knockout, he needs to soften him up a little bit more downstairs and keep popping him with that jab.
13:05Break him down, and then he'll be ready to go one more round.
13:08Well, it's clear that Moses is picking up the pressure here in the fourth round, and that left hand just rocked.
13:14Carl Rogers, who takes a deep breath.
13:16And credit to Rogers, who's been trying things offensively.
13:19He's game.
13:20He's in front of Moses, but is obviously outgunned here.
13:23He's game and awkward, and like I said before the first round, you've got to be careful with guys like this.
13:29Not only with looping shots, but headbutts.
13:32Moses is just cool and relaxed walking forward.
13:35I love the punch selection as well.
13:37He's real accurate with his counter punches, real relaxed, coming forward.
13:40Smooth combination puncher.
13:44Body shot right there.
13:45It's body shot there from Moses.
13:46You can see the hands dropping on Carl Rogers even before that shot, and that's not going to help matters.
13:57Moses starting to put them together here.
13:59This is the hand speed that's been one of Moses' hallmarks.
14:04It's accuracy, it's speed, and it's all too much for Carl Rogers right now.
14:11This gets serious, man.
14:12I love those red hooks.
14:13Andy Southpuff has a right hook like that, body punching like this.
14:18He's going to be dangerous.
14:19That knockdown may have saved Carl Rogers from a knockout.
14:22The record is about to step in, and I think he's going to do it in just a moment.
14:27And that is it.
14:28Zayquin Moses with a knockout victory in his MSG debut.
14:34Oh, yeah, man.
14:35This kid has a high ceiling, man.
14:37I don't know what they feed these guys in New Jersey, but these guys could fight, man.
14:41This kid could fight.
14:42He's ahead of his time already, right?
14:44He's gifted.
14:45He's talented.
14:46Nothing.
14:47Body shots.
14:47The patient.
14:48The killer instinct.
14:49And he listens to his corner and went out for the kill in the knockout.
14:52As he daps up his promoter, Eddie Hearn, who again really feels that Moses is going to be one of the faces of U.S. boxing for years to come.
15:05Like the prospects that we mentioned before, that this will be a story line we'll be following for several years.
15:16Well, Jake Paul is back to face his toughest challenge yet on June 28th as the problem child steps into the ring with Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr.
15:26Go to DAZN.com backslash boxing for more details on how to watch this unmissable event.
15:33A terrific performance from Zaquin Moses.
15:46And Sergio, you were alluding to Moses and how he operates in the ring, just feeling mature beyond his years already.
15:53Yeah, he is.
15:54He's just calm.
15:55He's relaxed.
15:55He's coming forward.
15:56Especially when he's so cool with the punches that are being looped over the top.
16:00He catches them.
16:01He sometimes gets half a punch in there, but he's ready to counter.
16:04So he's always thinking offensively.
16:06But it's the body shot that set up this knockdown, this first knockdown.
16:10See, right there, he's not smothering his punches.
16:13It's that right hook that really caught the attention and hurt Rodgers.
16:16It was that right hook right on the temple.
16:19And look, that's what I mean right there.
16:21Took a shot.
16:21Normally, fighters that are this inexperienced as professionals, they jump back too much where they can't counter.
16:27He stayed in the pocket, took the punch just to give a punch.
16:30And that right hook is the thing that's finished off.
16:33Finished off Carl Rodgers.
16:34I love that, man.
16:35Sweeping right hook.
16:38All right, let's make this one official as we hand it back to our emcee, Mr. David Diamandis.
16:47Ladies and gentlemen, referee Eric Daly calls a halt in this contest.
16:51The official time of the stoppage.
16:54One minute, 51 seconds of round number four.
16:58Declaring your winner by TKO.
17:00He's still undefeated.
17:04Zayquan.
17:05Zaybop.
17:07Moses.
17:11So Zaybop.
17:12Zayquan.
17:13Moses.
17:13And now 4-0.
17:15And you're likely going to be seeing that face on your screen for years to come.
