00:06nation's capital and all across the world, happy birthday soldiers, we're proud of you.

00:11When we do ask you to go to war, we give you the weapons and the support needed to kick

00:16the hell out of the enemy and come back home safely.

00:18It is, of course, the birthday of the President of the United States, and happy birthday,

00:22Mr. President, that it's also my wedding anniversary.

00:25And so to my lovely wife, I love you, honey, happy anniversary, and thank you for everything

00:30that you do for our country.

00:32Well, let me say to the thousands of Americans who traveled from distant towns and across

00:39state lines to be here today, this is your national capital.

00:43Welcome to Washington, D.C.

00:44We are thrilled to have you.

00:52This evening, as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States Army, the oldest branch

00:58of the greatest fighting force ever known to man, I want to say to all the soldiers all

01:05across our nation's capital and all across the world, happy birthday soldiers, we're proud

01:10of you.

01:11And I want to say you represent an unbroken line of greatness, of excellence.

01:21And one of the things the President of the United States has told his entire administration,

01:26from the Vice President on down, is that we must remember that the young men and women

01:31who put on the uniform and serve this nation are our most precious resource.

01:36We must honor them.

01:37We must respect them.

01:39We must fight for them.

01:40And that's exactly what the Trump administration aims to do every single day.

01:50And so to our soldiers, we're so proud of you.

01:53And let me tell you that the way that we honor and respect you is, number one, we never ask

01:58you to go to war unless you absolutely have to.

02:01And number two, when we do ask you to go to war, we give you the weapons and the support

02:06needed to kick the hell out of the enemy and come back home safely.

02:11Now, I know I am the last thing standing between the main event, and that is a dangerous place

02:21to be with a lot of soldiers in the audience.

02:23So let me just say a couple of quick additional thoughts.

02:26First of all, June the 14th is, of course, the birthday of the Army.

02:30It is, of course, the birthday of the President of the United States.

02:33And happy birthday, Mr. President.

02:40But I would get in trouble if I didn't mention that it's also my wedding anniversary.

02:45And so to my lovely wife, I love you, honey.

02:47Happy anniversary.

02:49And thank you for everything that you do for our country.
