00:00From Mexico's Day of the Dead to Darwin's local market delicacies, the streets of this
00:07remote tropical city are exploding with color.
00:11Angie and I decided to come up with the concept to kind of bring some culture from Mexico
00:16and California out here.
00:18I just love to be able to share something from back home around the world.
00:24Over the past three weeks of the Darwin Street Art Festival, 25 new murals have appeared
00:29across the city.
00:30While most of the artists are from Darwin and across Australia, this year's event has attracted
00:35international interest.
00:37So we've got three artists over from LA that we worked with in Venice Beach.
00:41So we worked with them there and then we brought them back over here so they can learn more
00:45about the territory, see the territory, spread the word of the territory and then bring some
00:49of this LA artwork here.
00:51An opportunity to share artworks and the stories behind them.
00:54You can pretty much walk around here and find murals that are comparable with something
01:02you're going to find in a major capital city worldwide, which is pretty remarkable.
01:09In addition to bringing the world to Darwin, this year's festival takes Darwin to the world.
01:14The festival concludes tonight with an outdoor digital art exhibition, shown both here in
01:18the city's CBD and in Kenya's capital, Nairobi.
01:22It's a collaboration for the 60 year diplomatic relationship between Australia and Kenya.
01:28For us it's a really big, I guess, step to having an international presence.
01:33New ground for a festival painting Darwin in a new light.
