"After a bad breakup, former Christmas lover Marie (Lowndes) loses her Christmas spirit. Trying to restore it, her mother sends Marie Christmas ornaments from her childhood, and a coincidental blessing follows each one. Marie's Christmas spirit gets another boost when she meets her handsome neighbor, Nate (Penny), and feels a spark with him while celebrating the season. When Marie's boss assigns her to edit the book of the man who caused her holiday heartache, however, the task resurfaces doubts from the past and even causes her to push Nate away. Feeling lost both at work and in love, Marie looks for a Christmas miracle to give her the confidence to pursue her work goals and to try to win Nate back. As Christmas approaches, Marie must follow her heart's passion - both at work and in love - and hope for one more blessing from her magical Christmas ornaments."

00:00:00To be continued...
00:00:30To laugh and sing, slaying something like...
00:00:33Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way...
00:00:39Oh, what fun it is to rally, walk and so can slay...
00:00:43Marie, my angel editor, did you enjoy the meal?
00:00:46Oh, so delicious, Chef Marcel.
00:00:48Thank you so much for the VIP treatment.
00:00:50Thank you for making my cookbook a bestseller.
00:00:52Look, we are featured on Epicurious.
00:00:55Amazing.
00:00:56Hello.
00:00:57I will send over coffee and dessert. You will love it.
00:01:00Merry Christmas.
00:01:03Well, you certainly made his Christmas wish come true.
00:01:05One of the perks of being an editor for nonfiction.
00:01:07You get to eat at New York City's hottest pop-up.
00:01:10Cheers.
00:01:11Here, I thought you were buttering me up so you could bail on my Christmas party.
00:01:14Once upon a time, you were the Christmas queen.
00:01:19Do you remember that one year you made the doorman cry?
00:01:22I think he had allergies.
00:01:23You made him his late mother's Christmas strudel.
00:01:25He was full-on bawling.
00:01:28My point is, you loved Christmas.
00:01:31And you made it magical for everyone.
00:01:33Uh, the last Christmas I tried to make magical, I foolishly assumed that the love of my life
00:01:38was proposing to me, and then he broke my heart, so I learned the hard way.
00:01:43Magic only exists in fairy tales, not in real life.
00:01:46Clark was four years ago.
00:01:47I think it's time you put a little Christmas magic back into your life.
00:01:52Are you conspiring with my mother?
00:01:53What?
00:01:54She's been texting me all day.
00:01:55Look at this.
00:01:57Every Christmas tree lot in the entire city.
00:02:00Well, maybe you should get a tree.
00:02:03It might restore your faith in Christmas.
00:02:05I had faith that nonfiction was temporary.
00:02:08A few months tops, and here I am two years later.
00:02:11With a successful Christmas cookbook, I have a hard time thinking that Henry will ever let
00:02:16me be in charge of fiction again.
00:02:17Fiction is your forte, and deep down, Henry knows that too.
00:02:20And you found the great J.P. Presley.
00:02:23It's your passion.
00:02:24Ah, yeah, well, my passion is running on empty.
00:02:26You have to chase a dream, right?
00:02:28Yeah, but now's your chance.
00:02:30Mind you.
00:02:31Andy and Marie.
00:02:33Huh?
00:02:33Hi.
00:02:34Isn't this place fantastic?
00:02:36Cookbook is a success.
00:02:37Sales are soaring.
00:02:38Don't you just love Christmas?
00:02:39Oh, we do.
00:02:41In fact, Marie was just telling me about a great new idea she has.
00:02:45Uh, it's just a strategic idea for next quarter, but...
00:02:50I can talk about it tomorrow.
00:02:51Okay, great.
00:02:52We'll have a meeting in the morning.
00:02:54Have a wonderful evening, ladies.
00:02:57Could you have been any more vague?
00:02:59I need time to prepare.
00:03:00And besides, I feel like I'm setting myself up for disappointment.
00:03:03Ask him by Christmas.
00:03:04That gives you two weeks to muster up the courage.
00:03:07And then you can buy a tree.
00:03:09Think of it like a giant air freshener.
00:03:12Peace on earth, aromatherapy.
00:03:13Here you are.
00:03:16It's a sign.
00:03:18And for you.
00:03:20Enjoy.
00:03:21Thanks.
00:03:28Henry, as you know, I have put my heart and soul into this company.
00:03:32And I love writing more than anything.
00:03:35And I want to be put back on fiction.
00:03:38I feel like that is my strong suit.
00:03:40Already getting gifts.
00:03:43Santa must like you.
00:03:44Oh.
00:03:45Santa is my mom.
00:03:47Cool.
00:03:47No, not literally.
00:03:49Like, she sent me presents.
00:03:50How long have you been standing here?
00:03:52Not long.
00:03:54I'm Nate.
00:03:55Marie.
00:03:56I've seen you around, so it's nice to finally put a name to the face.
00:04:00Nice to meet you.
00:04:02It's my first Christmas in New York.
00:04:04You from here?
00:04:05Uh, yeah.
00:04:06Albany.
00:04:07I mean, my parents still live there.
00:04:08Yeah, I'm from Florida.
00:04:09I see my town decorates palm trees instead of pine trees.
00:04:12Well, there's practically a Christmas tree on every corner here.
00:04:15Welcome to New York.
00:04:21I was hoping for more blankets to snow than slush.
00:04:23I've always wanted a white Christmas.
00:04:25Every year, I would ask Santa for snow.
00:04:27The closest that I ever got was one of those Snoopy snow cone makers.
00:04:31What about you?
00:04:32What do you want?
00:04:33What do I want?
00:04:35For Christmas.
00:04:36Honestly, if I could have my neighbor turn down that corny Christmas music, I would be
00:04:40really grateful.
00:04:41And do you know your neighbors?
00:04:43Not really.
00:04:44It's a big building.
00:04:45That's one thing I miss about small towns.
00:04:47You know, I consider Sinatra to be classy and classic, not corny.
00:04:52You must have some pretty high standards.
00:04:53I'm sorry.
00:04:55I just, um, the walls are thin and I...
00:04:57I'm not a fan of Christmas music.
00:04:59I mean, it just all starts sounding the same.
00:05:01Maybe switch it up a little with a song from this decade?
00:05:05Well, if you have any more special requests, you can just put them on my door.
00:05:08Okay.
00:05:12Hi, Sammy.
00:05:13Oh, I missed you, buddy.
00:05:15I owe you a treat.
00:05:21Come here.
00:05:23Good boy.
00:05:25Here you go.
00:05:29Seriously.
00:05:29Oh, hi, honey.
00:05:44Hi, Mom.
00:05:45Can you see me?
00:05:46I can.
00:05:47You can stop waving.
00:05:48Oh, good.
00:05:49Did you get the mail?
00:05:50I did, yeah.
00:05:51Thanks for the early Christmas gifts.
00:05:53Open it.
00:05:55Shouldn't I wait for Christmas?
00:05:56No, no, no.
00:05:56No, this is important.
00:05:57Okay.
00:05:58All right, I'm going to put you down for a sec, all right?
00:05:59Okay, honey.
00:06:00All right.
00:06:02She's going to open it now.
00:06:04Okay.
00:06:04She looks nice.
00:06:05I think she was out.
00:06:06Oh.
00:06:07Fingers crossed she was on a date.
00:06:09Not a date.
00:06:10Sorry to disappoint.
00:06:11Oh, uh, your father was just asking...
00:06:14What?
00:06:14I thought...
00:06:15Did you open it?
00:06:18This is why you wanted me to get a tree?
00:06:20To hang one ornament?
00:06:21Ah.
00:06:22Read the note.
00:06:23An angel from Christmas past, hang her high to receive the magic that she casts.
00:06:40That's Aurora.
00:06:42Remember?
00:06:43When you were young, you always made sure she was the first decoration on the tree.
00:06:48You swore she was the only one who could cast Christmas magic.
00:06:52Yeah, that's because I imagined that she was responsible for the Northern Lights.
00:06:55You were always so creative.
00:06:58Oh, come on, honey.
00:06:59Don't ruin the fun.
00:07:02Give her a chance.
00:07:03Do it because you love your mother.
00:07:05And father.
00:07:06Yeah, for us.
00:07:08Okay, fine.
00:07:09I'll put her up on the shelf.
00:07:11Okay, that's fine for now.
00:07:13Oh, honey, I've got to go.
00:07:15It's a Wonderful Life is starting.
00:07:17I love you.
00:07:18All right, I love you.
00:07:19Bye-bye.
00:07:19Okay, bye.
00:07:20Bye.
00:07:20Bye.
00:07:21Bye.
00:07:22So, what do you think?
00:07:28I mean, she'll never stop nagging us if we don't put her up somewhere.
00:07:40She is beautiful.
00:07:41Okay, Aurora.
00:07:50If you still have some magic left in you, how about convincing Henry for that transfer?
00:07:55Oh, and could you send me a sign that happy endings still exists, not just in fairy tales, but in real life, too?
00:08:05And if you could help me with that, that would be great.
00:08:09A Christmas city is big and beautiful, bright lights everywhere.
00:08:12Come on, let's go.
00:08:13Good night.
00:08:14Good night, night.
00:08:15Where you can meet St. Nick, to join our journey there.
00:08:19Oh, hey, I was just going to drop this at your door.
00:08:34It says fragile, but not much room in the box.
00:08:36Merry Christmas.
00:08:37Thanks.
00:08:38See you about that.
00:08:53These numbers are fantastic.
00:08:59We actually went up in hardback sales, which is a miracle in this e-book age.
00:09:07I included a note area and page markers in the cookbook.
00:09:11Purists love it.
00:09:12That's why you're our best.
00:09:15How are you, Owen?
00:09:16Henry, I've been thinking, and, um, I went out of nonfiction.
00:09:24Come again?
00:09:24The last two years, I've worked really hard to relaunch the nonfiction department.
00:09:29The numbers show that I've succeeded.
00:09:31But finding great stories and developing brilliant authors, that is what my passion is.
00:09:36J.P.
00:09:36Presley's book is still in the top sellers, and I championed him when everybody else passed.
00:09:41I need a challenge, and that's not happening with books like Better Business with Bitcoin.
00:09:56Well, did you ask?
00:09:59He said yes.
00:10:00That's great.
00:10:01Under one condition.
00:10:02I'm the story editor for our next non-fictional book, Not the Department.
00:10:07I mean, he agrees I'm a valuable team player, and he supports me.
00:10:10But I can't abandon nonfiction.
00:10:13Not yet.
00:10:13I've got to prove myself.
00:10:15Again.
00:10:16One book today, department tomorrow.
00:10:18What's important is that you're moving in the right direction.
00:10:21I'm so proud of you.
00:10:22Yeah, it's like, something pushed me.
00:10:28What?
00:10:30Nothing.
00:10:31Nothing.
00:10:31Uh, you're right.
00:10:33Let's go celebrate.
00:10:33Do you want to go grab lunch?
00:10:34Oh, I wish I could.
00:10:35We're partnering with St. Ambrose in their toy drive this winter.
00:10:39Uh, so I have to go take pictures of the pediatric ward for the press release.
00:10:46Christmas presents?
00:10:48I know.
00:10:49It's courtesy of my mother.
00:10:51It's definitely not a Christmas tree.
00:10:53What does Linda have in store for you to bring you back into the Christmas spirit?
00:10:57I don't know.
00:11:06It's definitely festive.
00:11:08Kind of weird.
00:11:15Remember when Santa didn't miss us despite your broken wrist?
00:11:19Thanks to a pinch of Christmas cheer, we happily celebrated another year.
00:11:23Hmm.
00:11:27So when I was a little girl, my cousin and I were playing out in the snow on Christmas Eve.
00:11:31And I slipped and broke my wrist.
00:11:34And I spent the entire night in the ER and we were so scared that Santa would forget about us.
00:11:41And not come to our home because we weren't in our bed.
00:11:44The nurses may need this.
00:11:48Said if you sprinkled some Christmas cheer and hung the ornament on the tree,
00:11:51that Santa would remember to come back and deliver our gifts.
00:11:55That was a long time ago.
00:12:01It's like a prescription for Christmas magic.
00:12:04Yeah, something silly like that.
00:12:08Wait, this is a sign.
00:12:10Hear me out.
00:12:12I'm going to the hospital.
00:12:13You should come with.
00:12:15And sit in the ER?
00:12:18It's not enough talking about my Christmas past.
00:12:20You want me to relive it?
00:12:20No, visit the pediatric ward with me.
00:12:23We're coordinating the toy drive.
00:12:25You've been in the kids' shoes before.
00:12:27Maybe your story will give them some hope that Santa Claus always remembers a Christmas wish.
00:12:35When you put it like that...
00:12:36For the record, I'm only going for the kids.
00:12:44Proof that Santa always delivers.
00:12:53Dr. Eichel.
00:12:54Right this way, ladies.
00:12:57And feel free to take all the photos you need.
00:12:59Great, thanks.
00:13:00Sure.
00:13:00Sure.
00:13:00Sure.
00:13:00Sure.
00:13:00Sure.
00:13:00Sure.
00:13:00Sure.
00:13:00Sure.
00:13:00Sure.
00:13:06Do you mind if I take a look inside?
00:13:12You're my guest.
00:13:21Hey.
00:13:22What are you reading?
00:13:24A Wrinkle in Time.
00:13:25Oh, that's one of my favorites.
00:13:27Mine too.
00:13:28I've read it four times.
00:13:30Four?
00:13:31Wow, you really are a fan.
00:13:33I love to read.
00:13:34It helps me forget about things.
00:13:36I love to read too.
00:13:40Hi, I'm Marie.
00:13:42Skylar, what's that on your hands?
00:13:46Oh.
00:13:48It's a little Christmas cheer from my ornament.
00:13:52See?
00:13:58You know Santa?
00:14:03Yeah, sort of.
00:14:04If I told you my Christmas wish, could you make sure Santa gets it?
00:14:09I'd do it myself, but it's not easy getting around.
00:14:12Well, when do you get to go home?
00:14:13Not sure.
00:14:15I tore my leg pretty bad in gymnastics.
00:14:20What do you want for Christmas?
00:14:22I wish I had more bucks.
00:14:24Done.
00:14:25I will deliver the message myself.
00:14:27Could you ask Santa if he could get me a race car?
00:14:29Uh, sure.
00:14:33Are there any other Christmas wishes?
00:14:36Oh.
00:14:38Hey, where'd you disappear to?
00:14:40I was just chatting with some kids.
00:14:42I have an idea.
00:14:43What if we made ornaments with the kids' pictures on them and wrote their Christmas wishes on the back?
00:14:47That's a great idea.
00:14:48Then we could hang them on the company's Christmas tree and the staff will know exactly what to donate.
00:14:52We can call it the giving tree.
00:14:55You have perfected the toy drive.
00:14:58So what, did the kids spark a little Christmas magic in you?
00:15:02I just don't want them to miss out because they're in the hospital.
00:15:04That's all.
00:15:05And besides, we are conducting a toy drive.
00:15:07We might as well give them exactly what they want, right?
00:15:09Right.
00:15:09Listen, I need to take some more pictures.
00:15:12Can you keep writing down wishes for Santa?
00:15:14Yeah.
00:15:14Well, you might need a notepad.
00:15:16Yeah.
00:15:21Excuse me?
00:15:25Well, hello, neighbor.
00:15:27Hi.
00:15:28Sorry, but I have no control over the music here.
00:15:30I deserve that.
00:15:32And what are you doing at our hospital?
00:15:33Will you just come here to yell bah humbug?
00:15:35Good one.
00:15:36No, actually, I came here to bring gifts.
00:15:39I work at Lion's Run Publishing.
00:15:42So you're coordinating the toy drive.
00:15:45Oh, wow.
00:15:46I can hardly notice the shock in your eyes.
00:15:48I'm actually making a list for Santa.
00:15:49A list that's a little too long for this piece of paper.
00:15:52Allow me.
00:15:53Here.
00:15:55Perfect, thanks.
00:15:56I noticed that the bookshelves in the rec room are a little sparse.
00:16:00Yeah, I've put in some requests for more books,
00:16:02but they just don't seem to have it in the budget.
00:16:04Got all the pictures for the ornaments.
00:16:06Oh, mind tripping?
00:16:07Oh, no.
00:16:07I was just chatting with my neighbor, Nate, and he lives down the hall.
00:16:10Oh, hi.
00:16:11I'm Andy.
00:16:12Hey.
00:16:13Did you just move in?
00:16:13No, I moved here six months ago.
00:16:15Came here for work.
00:16:15Oh, wait, six months ago?
00:16:17How have we never met?
00:16:19Yeah, you should probably look up from your phone every now and then.
00:16:24So, you're making ornaments?
00:16:26Each ornament will have a picture on the front and a wish list on the back.
00:16:29Great idea.
00:16:30Show me your ornament.
00:16:31This is cute.
00:16:40Your mom is sending her ornaments from Christmas past to get her back into the holiday spirit
00:16:44and hopefully get a tree.
00:16:46Wait, you don't have a tree?
00:16:47No, not yet.
00:16:48No.
00:16:48It's Christmas.
00:16:49How can you not have a tree?
00:16:50See?
00:16:50He gets it.
00:16:51Okay, you know that complex across our street?
00:16:53They just put up a massive tree and the lights glare through my window,
00:16:55so I see Christmas every time I look up.
00:16:57I'm good.
00:16:57What, maid?
00:16:58Not a fan of the holiday?
00:17:00Someone must have really rained on your Christmas parade, huh?
00:17:06That's me, so I should get going.
00:17:09Bye.
00:17:13Come on, don't hold it against him.
00:17:14He didn't know.
00:17:16He seems really sweet.
00:17:17You should get to know him better.
00:17:18No, I can't date a neighbor.
00:17:20Besides, if it didn't work out, how awkward would it be around the mailbox?
00:17:24Or even worse, the elevator.
00:17:25I would have to move.
00:17:26Love is worth the risk.
00:17:29Not when you're in my control.
00:17:30Besides, he's a bit too idealistic for me.
00:17:34Exactly.
00:17:37No.
00:17:38Okay.
00:17:38Hey, I was going to leave you a note, but I'm really sorry if I offended you earlier.
00:17:59You bought me a tree?
00:18:00Peace offering.
00:18:01And I read in a medical journal that ornaments filled with Christmas cheer need pine branches
00:18:05to work.
00:18:06Well, a wreath would have been a lot more practical.
00:18:08Yeah, but there's no fun in practical.
00:18:10So, I suppose I have to keep this?
00:18:16Yes, ma'am.
00:18:18Okay.
00:18:19Well, my mother's going to be thrilled.
00:18:21Good.
00:18:22But I hope it brings you a little Christmas magic as well.
00:18:25Well, thank you.
00:18:27Good night.
00:18:27No, I'm good.
00:18:28Got it.
00:18:30Good night.
00:18:31Good night.
00:18:32No, that's not for you.
00:19:02My mom will kill me if I break this.
00:19:27There we go.
00:19:29Oh, shit.
00:19:32Don't worry.
00:19:33It's not going to be like the monstrosity across the street.
00:19:41It's late.
00:19:46It's fine.
00:19:47It's only going to be for a few weeks.
00:19:48It's fine.
00:19:48It's fine.
00:19:49It's only going to be for a few weeks.
00:20:02Another package.
00:20:05Thanks.
00:20:10Dad would read poems by the fire, and hope and dreams he would inspire.
00:20:15Remember your favorite quote by Emily, and always dwell in possibility.
00:20:20Oh, so sweet.
00:20:22My dad gave me that ornament when I was in college.
00:20:25Oh.
00:20:26Emily Dickinson's still my favorite.
00:20:29Mom's really going for it, huh?
00:20:30Well, you have to admit she's really tugging at those heartstrings.
00:20:33I'm getting a little emotional here.
00:20:35I apologize if I'm interrupting, but I was in the neighborhood.
00:20:39Are you kidding?
00:20:39Come in.
00:20:41Oh.
00:20:43So nice to see you, JP.
00:20:46I'll leave so you two can catch up.
00:20:48Oh, I didn't mean to run you off.
00:20:49Oh, no, no, no.
00:20:50I have office manager duties, planning the Lions-run Christmas party.
00:20:53Oh, good.
00:20:54I am coming this year.
00:20:55Amazing.
00:20:56It's fantastic.
00:20:57We'll see you there.
00:20:59Okay.
00:20:59Bye.
00:21:01Sit.
00:21:02Come in.
00:21:03So, are you in the city for Christmas?
00:21:06Ah, yes.
00:21:07L.A. feels like summer, and I prefer snow at Christmas.
00:21:11Nobody celebrates like New York.
00:21:12My wife loves the shopping.
00:21:15Okay, here's some news.
00:21:17I'm officially moving back to fiction.
00:21:20I mean, it's still in the process.
00:21:22It's one book at a time, but...
00:21:24That is wonderful.
00:21:25So, for my next book, you'll be my editor?
00:21:28Well, you have to finish it first.
00:21:30What can I say?
00:21:32The TV show keeps me busy.
00:21:34Well, you can't forget your literary roots.
00:21:36Never.
00:21:37Never.
00:21:37But I have been thinking, you know, about different ideas, new directions.
00:21:46Anything you want to share?
00:21:47Maybe later.
00:21:53Ah, I see.
00:21:54So, you haven't given up on Christmas?
00:21:57Ah, it's my mother's attempt at pulling me back in.
00:22:00She keeps sending me these ornaments.
00:22:02It's like a journey down memory lane.
00:22:04That's good.
00:22:04Memories build the bridge between our minds and heart, and they should be preserved like
00:22:09treasured keepsakes.
00:22:11That's good.
00:22:13You need to remember that for your next book.
00:22:16You love Christmas.
00:22:18Marie, why do you keep turning your back on it?
00:22:21I mean, you know why.
00:22:25The NYU fellow, the one whose podcast you forbid me to go on.
00:22:29Unfortunately, Christmas spirit can't heal a broken heart.
00:22:32Besides, I find it so much easier to not get caught up in the Christmas drama.
00:22:36I just can't get past how you made me feel.
00:22:43Just let go.
00:22:45Use that energy for something positive.
00:22:49I don't think that's possible.
00:22:51The possible slow fuse is lit by the imagination.
00:22:56Emily Dickinson.
00:23:08I mean, it looks kind of weird without the lights, but baby steps, right?
00:23:13Hi, honey.
00:23:29Hi, Mom.
00:23:30Did you get the packages?
00:23:31I did, yeah.
00:23:33You really don't have to keep sending these things.
00:23:35So when are you going to get a tree?
00:23:38Oh, oh, you already did.
00:23:40Alex, come and see the tree.
00:23:43I can't see anything.
00:23:45Okay, hold on.
00:23:48Can you see it?
00:23:49Why is it so bare?
00:23:52Because I have, like, three ornaments.
00:23:54Well, didn't you get the box?
00:23:56What box?
00:23:57Alex, where did you send the box?
00:23:59To her apartment.
00:24:01Honey, obviously it's not there.
00:24:04You had one job.
00:24:05I mean, I wrote the address in perfect pen.
00:24:07Okay, I gotta go.
00:24:08Mom, why don't you call me?
00:24:09Actually, no, you know what?
00:24:09Text me when you find it, okay?
00:24:11All right.
00:24:12Okay, love you.
00:24:12Bye.
00:24:13Delivery man got the wrong apartment.
00:24:17I hope you don't mind, but I signed for it.
00:24:18I figured it would just be easier if I brought it up for myself.
00:24:20You just saved my father an earful from my mom.
00:24:23Always happy to be the hero.
00:24:25I suspect that that is more ornaments.
00:24:27Hero and detective, you're just a jack of all trades.
00:24:30Yeah, you know, you kind of have to be in my line of work.
00:24:35That's the, uh, tree.
00:24:36That's good.
00:24:37Do you want to come in and see?
00:24:39Sure.
00:24:41Who's this little buddy?
00:24:47Oh, that's Sam.
00:24:49I call him Sammy.
00:24:50My dog growing up.
00:24:52His name was Sam.
00:24:52Really?
00:24:54Yeah, all the best friends are.
00:24:55Just ask Frodo Baggins.
00:24:56You read fantasy novels?
00:24:57I'm not so much of a big reader, but I love movies and shows.
00:25:02You know, put on a Lord of the Rings marathon, big tub of popcorn.
00:25:04I'm all in.
00:25:06Did I interrupt your decorating?
00:25:09Uh, no.
00:25:10I'm actually done.
00:25:12All right, well, maybe this will add something.
00:25:17All right, let's see what we have in here.
00:25:34A Christmas Carol was your first favorite book.
00:25:36You loved it so much, you read it in June.
00:25:38That is my favorite book, too.
00:25:40I thought you just said you weren't much of a reader.
00:25:42No, but my grandfather would read us a Christmas Carol every year.
00:25:46I loved it.
00:25:47Tiny Tim was my favorite.
00:25:49He actually inspired me to pursue medicine, to help people.
00:25:55Listen, I've got extra lights and garland at my place.
00:25:59If you want, I can help you decorate.
00:26:00Right now?
00:26:01Yeah, sure.
00:26:02Why not?
00:26:02Believe me, decorating solo is not as much fun as it seems.
00:26:06Come on.
00:26:09Okay.
00:26:11Ha.
00:26:12Oh, Christmas tree.
00:26:19Oh, Christmas tree.
00:26:19Oh, Christmas tree.
00:26:21That leaves us so unchanging.
00:26:24Oh, Christmas tree.
00:26:27Oh, Christmas tree.
00:26:28That leaves us so unchanging.
00:26:32I don't agree with summer's here.
00:26:35But also when it is cold and dry.
00:26:39Oh, Christmas tree.
00:26:40Oh, Christmas tree.
00:26:42That leaves us so unchanging.
00:26:45Oh, we almost forgot.
00:26:52Oh.
00:26:57There.
00:26:59Oh.
00:26:59Well, you should hang Tiny Tim because he's your favorite.
00:27:06You want to know a secret?
00:27:10Sure.
00:27:10At the end of the Christmas carol, my grandfather would always let me say Tiny Tim's famous line.
00:27:17Even if my cousins begged, he'd always give it to me.
00:27:20It's my favorite Christmas memory.
00:27:22Well, go on.
00:27:23Say it.
00:27:23Uh, now?
00:27:27Yeah.
00:27:28Uh, no, no, no.
00:27:31Sorry.
00:27:31My performing days are very fast.
00:27:33Come on.
00:27:34No.
00:27:34What about you?
00:27:36Any Christmas secrets?
00:27:38No.
00:27:39Uh, that tree.
00:27:42I'm still not sure how I feel about it.
00:27:44Have you always been a self-reclaimed Scrooge?
00:27:46No.
00:27:47I used to really get into the holiday.
00:27:49Okay.
00:27:49So what happened?
00:27:51I don't know.
00:27:52I guess I've lost my Christmas spirit.
00:27:56Bad breakup.
00:27:59We've all been there.
00:28:00Maybe not at Christmas, but you move on.
00:28:04Can't let us spoil the entire season.
00:28:05Coming from the man who obviously has never had his heart broken.
00:28:07Yeah, I have.
00:28:10My last serious girlfriend back in Florida, actually.
00:28:13I don't blame her, though.
00:28:14I dove into my career, and I didn't really leave time for anything else.
00:28:18Who wants an absentee boyfriend?
00:28:19Is that why you moved to New York?
00:28:21Partially.
00:28:22St. Ambrose leads the nation in pediatrics, so I jumped at the opportunity.
00:28:26So your career went again.
00:28:28No.
00:28:30No, because I promised myself that if I made the move, I would make my life more balanced.
00:28:35Try new things.
00:28:36Have more fun.
00:28:37Say yes to something other than a double shift.
00:28:40Yeah?
00:28:41Well, how's that going for you?
00:28:43I'm still working out the details.
00:28:48Breakups aren't easy.
00:28:50They hurt.
00:28:51But you can't use paint as a shield for your entire life, because then you end up blocking everything that's good.
00:29:03I should probably get going.
00:29:06Right.
00:29:06Tonight was fun.
00:29:14Yeah, it was.
00:29:17Thank you for the decorations.
00:29:19Yeah.
00:29:19Can I treat you to coffee?
00:29:24Or maybe some new music?
00:29:28How about ice skating?
00:29:30I haven't been since I was a kid.
00:29:31There's a rink two blocks from here.
00:29:33Would you want to?
00:29:35Would you want to?
00:29:38Full warning, there might be Christmas music there.
00:29:41Well, that's normally a deal breaker.
00:29:42But I think I can make an exception.
00:29:47I will knock at around six.
00:29:49Okay.
00:29:54Hey, what are you doing?
00:29:55Stop.
00:29:58What are you doing?
00:30:16Your father took me for pancakes on our first date.
00:30:19First kissed me on ice skates and proposed to me at the lighthouse.
00:30:23Love can find you anywhere.
00:30:25It's not a date, date.
00:30:53We're just wearing ice skating.
00:30:54Oh, hey, Marie.
00:31:02Another package.
00:31:04Thanks.
00:31:05Oh, and, um, Merry Christmas.
00:31:07Right back at you.
00:31:11Merry Christmas.
00:31:12Merry Christmas.
00:31:12From our summer vacations in the sun and sand, you look for buried treasure in the land.
00:31:31For the greatest treasure is always carried in your heart.
00:31:33Merry Christmas.
00:31:34Merry Christmas.
00:31:35Merry Christmas.
00:31:35Merry Christmas.
00:31:36Merry Christmas.
00:31:36Merry Christmas.
00:31:36Merry Christmas.
00:31:37Merry Christmas.
00:31:37Merry Christmas.
00:31:37Merry Christmas.
00:31:38Merry Christmas.
00:31:38Merry Christmas.
00:31:39Merry Christmas.
00:31:39Merry Christmas.
00:31:39Merry Christmas.
00:31:39Merry Christmas.
00:31:40Merry Christmas.
00:31:40Merry Christmas.
00:31:40Merry Christmas.
00:31:40Merry Christmas.
00:31:41Merry Christmas.
00:31:41Merry Christmas.
00:31:41Well, if this is really Christmas magic, do you think we'll find a buried treasure?
00:31:53I hope so.
00:32:02Ah, these are perfect.
00:32:04Can't get all the ornaments up because people keep trying to sneak peeks.
00:32:08I think there's something happening with those ornaments.
00:32:10Like what?
00:32:11Like something magical.
00:32:13Well, it's Christmas. It makes everyone feel magical.
00:32:15No, this is different.
00:32:16First, the pill container and the hospital.
00:32:18Then yesterday, JP quoted Emily Dickinson.
00:32:21And this last one, I get an ice skate ornament.
00:32:24And last night, Nate asked me to go ice skating.
00:32:26What, are you going to go?
00:32:27Well, I mean, it would be rude if I didn't.
00:32:29He got me a tree.
00:32:31It's not a date.
00:32:32It's neighbors hanging out in the neighborhood.
00:32:35Okay, my point is...
00:32:37Is this just one big coincidence?
00:32:39No, it's serendipity. It's fate.
00:32:42Embrace it.
00:32:45Did you get an ornament today?
00:32:47I got a treasure chest.
00:32:48I doubt I'm going to find buried treasure underneath the tree.
00:32:50Oh, keep an open mind.
00:32:51Anything is possible.
00:32:52I love you.
00:33:01I love you.
00:33:01I love you.
00:33:06I love you.
00:33:10Hello, Marie. Hi, how are you?
00:33:30Hi, I'm well. Excellent, actually, because I'm holding the Christmas treasure adventure in my hands right now.
00:33:36Do you like it? I told you I had some new ideas.
00:33:39I love it. It's such a sweet story and so serendipitous.
00:33:46Well, it is my Christmas present to you.
00:33:49Now, I know it's a totally different genre, but I trust that you will know what to do with it.
00:33:54Thank you. I promise you, I won't let you down.
00:33:57You never do. Talk to you soon.
00:34:00Bye.
00:34:09Okay, bye.
00:34:14Hey, I was just about to call you.
00:34:17Good news. This is J.P. Presley's next bestseller.
00:34:21What better way for me to step back into the fiction world, right?
00:34:23Yeah, well, I appreciate that J.P. brought us his latest passion project, but we've moved away from children's publishing.
00:34:28Oh, do you think we can make an exception? I promise you, I'm willing to put in the work.
00:34:33Yeah, it's not about the work. The numbers just don't add up for us.
00:34:36Don't worry. I've got your fiction author.
00:34:38He's an English professor at NYU.
00:34:40This is his first novel, but he has published quite a few short stories, so it's not novice.
00:34:44But he has a wildly popular podcast that my daughter and her friends absolutely love.
00:34:51Oh, so he already has a built-in audience.
00:34:53Oh, yeah, yeah. He has celebrity status, hence the bidding war.
00:34:56What's his name?
00:34:57Well, there he is right now. Come on. I'll introduce you.
00:35:01Scott Kassman.
00:35:02Henry.
00:35:03Oh, yeah.
00:35:03Good.
00:35:06Hello?
00:35:06Hello?
00:35:06So you think a massive structure like Machu Picchu would stand out.
00:35:15Our tour guide takes a wrong turn, and suddenly, we're totally lost in the Andes.
00:35:20Oh, no.
00:35:20Yeah, I'm starting to see spiders the size of cats, and I'm thinking, I don't want to go out like this.
00:35:25So I pull on my compass for my Boy Scout days, and within 10 minutes, we're right in front of the city gates.
00:35:32Our tour guide was so happy, he offered me his best llama.
00:35:34Too bad I couldn't get through security.
00:35:36Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
00:35:42Well, that was a really great story. Did your trip give you any inspiration for your novel?
00:35:48Uh, no, no, but, um, maybe for the next one, huh?
00:35:53Clark's promised that his, uh, his novel's inspired by his personal endeavors, similar to his podcast.
00:35:58Well, as much as I've enjoyed your adventures and your little zip-lining videos, I'm really curious about your book.
00:36:06Like, what's it about?
00:36:11Love.
00:36:14Love.
00:36:17Do you care to elaborate?
00:36:19Um, I thought this was a meet and greet.
00:36:22I didn't really prepare a pitch or anything.
00:36:23Oh, that's okay.
00:36:24No worries.
00:36:25No worries.
00:36:25I mean, you're obviously a gifted storyteller, so Marie will set up a follow-up meeting.
00:36:30Only if you bring pages.
00:36:31And by that, I mean chapters, not transcripts of your podcast.
00:36:34This is what I love about Marie.
00:36:35I mean, her tenacity, a go-getter.
00:36:38I like to be pushed.
00:36:39Well, I've envisioned pushing you in many ways, Clark.
00:36:42Probably off a cliff, am I right?
00:36:43Uh-huh.
00:36:47Um, have you two met?
00:36:51College sweethearts.
00:36:54And then some.
00:36:55And obviously, not anymore.
00:36:59Is this going to, uh, complicate the novel?
00:37:02No, no.
00:37:03That was four years ago, before I came to Lion's Run.
00:37:06The past is the past.
00:37:12See you soon.
00:37:14Henry.
00:37:15Great seeing you.
00:37:15See you in a couple weeks.
00:37:16Absolutely.
00:37:17Bye.
00:37:17Did I just see...
00:37:21Clark.
00:37:21Yeah.
00:37:22Apparently, my road back to fiction is on the Houseman Express.
00:37:25So how does he just sneak back into your life?
00:37:27I feel like there should have been a sign or something.
00:37:29There were.
00:37:30I did this.
00:37:31How?
00:37:32The ornaments.
00:37:34I told you there's magic to them.
00:37:36Today, I got a treasure chest.
00:37:38Uh-huh.
00:37:38JP sends me his book.
00:37:39It's called A Christmas Treasure Adventure.
00:37:41So how does Clark just magically appear in your life?
00:37:44My mom sent me this lighthouse ornament.
00:37:46My father proposed to her at one in Maine.
00:37:48It's always been our family's favorite vacation spot.
00:37:53And?
00:37:54And?
00:37:55And it was always this symbol of love.
00:37:59Clark and I spent our last Christmas there together.
00:38:03I was insistent.
00:38:04He was hesitant.
00:38:05And...
00:38:06That's where you broke your heart.
00:38:09Oh, I knew it.
00:38:11I shouldn't have hung it on the tree.
00:38:12Okay, let's look at the signs.
00:38:14So, you got the lighthouse and the ice skate ornaments at the same time, right?
00:38:18And the pancakes.
00:38:19Do you have a connection to pancakes?
00:38:21I mean, it was my parents' first date.
00:38:23The lighthouse is a sign that true love exists,
00:38:25and the ice skates are gliding in Nate as your true love.
00:38:28Okay, let's not get too far ahead of ourselves.
00:38:31Okay, stay focused on the positive.
00:38:33It can mean something else.
00:38:35Maybe it's a metaphor.
00:38:36To light your way.
00:38:38Or maybe.
00:38:39It's a foghorn.
00:38:40Trying to warn me.
00:38:42The lighthouse.
00:38:42It's special to your family, right?
00:38:45Since it's a special memory,
00:38:46let's try and assume that it's guiding you in the right direction.
00:38:52We did have amazing family vacations there.
00:38:55See?
00:38:55That's all that matters.
00:39:01Come here.
00:39:01You good?
00:39:12Yeah.
00:39:14All right, let's just take this slow.
00:39:16It's been a long time since I've done this.
00:39:18You're going to be fine.
00:39:19It's just like riding a bike.
00:39:24You good?
00:39:24Yeah, yeah.
00:39:25No, I just need to channel my inner 12-year-old.
00:39:27I got this.
00:39:28You just got to stay centered.
00:39:30I got this.
00:39:32Good.
00:39:32Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
00:39:34What?
00:39:34I forgot how to turn.
00:39:36Oh, my God.
00:39:37No.
00:39:38You okay?
00:39:39Yep.
00:39:40It's okay.
00:39:41Not a lot of people saw that.
00:39:44Okay.
00:39:47My hero.
00:39:48Hardly.
00:39:49I just saved you from so much embarrassment.
00:39:50Yeah, well, that still counts.
00:39:52Okay.
00:39:53Just hold my hand.
00:39:55We can take it slow.
00:39:56Here.
00:39:57Just right.
00:39:58Left.
00:39:59Right.
00:39:59You're doing so good.
00:40:01You're doing so much better.
00:40:02Yes.
00:40:02You're doing so much better.
00:40:12Okay.
00:40:14Okay.
00:40:16Huh?
00:40:16What do you give that?
00:40:17Uh, a six.
00:40:19Six?
00:40:20I mean, your pivot could be a little tighter.
00:40:23Okay.
00:40:23But if I get a seven on this one, we go out to dinner.
00:40:27Well, if you get an eight, I'll let you choose the restaurant.
00:40:29Oh, okay.
00:40:32What do you give that?
00:40:38Where do you want to eat?
00:40:39All right.
00:40:44So, what do you think?
00:40:46It's very...
00:40:47classic.
00:40:51So, what's good?
00:40:53Cheeseburgers.
00:40:55But I'm a breakfast for dinner kind of guy, so I'll be having Santa's flapjacks with egg
00:40:59milk syrup.
00:41:01Pancakes?
00:41:02Too much Christmas for you?
00:41:05I'll have Santa's flapjacks, please.
00:41:07Marie?
00:41:08Uh, what the heck?
00:41:08I'll have the same.
00:41:09Hey.
00:41:13So, why nursing?
00:41:15Well, I planned on being a doctor.
00:41:17And I passed my MCATs and I was ready for med school.
00:41:20And then my grandfather got sick.
00:41:23Cancer.
00:41:23I'm sorry.
00:41:24It was a battle.
00:41:27I stayed with him every day through his treatment.
00:41:30And as much as I appreciate everything that the doctors did, it was really the nurses that
00:41:34gave him...
00:41:35Us, the strength to keep on fighting.
00:41:39You know, they held his hand through everything.
00:41:41And they cheered for him when he rang the bell for his last chemo treatment.
00:41:47They made sure that we never felt alone.
00:41:53I'm sure he's alive today because of it.
00:41:55You can't write a prescription for that kind of support.
00:41:57No, you can't.
00:41:59Then I went to thank the head nurse.
00:42:01She told me that's the way it works.
00:42:04Right there, I found my calling.
00:42:06Never looked back.
00:42:07Wow.
00:42:07I wish I had that kind of courage.
00:42:09What do you mean?
00:42:10You're living your dream.
00:42:11Ugh.
00:42:11I voluntarily have been in this non-fiction purgatory for the last two years.
00:42:16I hardly call it a dream come true.
00:42:18Why?
00:42:20I got stuck.
00:42:22I didn't want to disappoint my boss.
00:42:25He praised my success.
00:42:26He promoted me.
00:42:30I thought that would be enough.
00:42:32But it isn't.
00:42:34And I feel guilty for that.
00:42:36You should never feel guilty about being unhappy.
00:42:39Just think of it as a road sign.
00:42:40That's telling you you need to go a different direction.
00:42:44Well, I'm in that process.
00:42:45We just hired a new fiction writer.
00:42:48And I'm the story editor.
00:42:49That's great.
00:42:50Yeah, it is a step in the right direction.
00:42:52Do you like him?
00:42:53He's not my first choice.
00:42:57But my boss really likes him and wants the novel to be a huge success.
00:43:01What do you want?
00:43:03The same.
00:43:04Sounds like maybe your heart wants something different.
00:43:08My heart enjoys success.
00:43:10Yeah, of course.
00:43:11But, I mean, what's your big dream?
00:43:13The one that comes from your heart.
00:43:14Honestly, I would love to open up my own boutique publishing house and discover inspiring writers, find diamonds in the rough, and develop incredible, great stories that connect through the imagination.
00:43:34Okay, that's it.
00:43:36You promised me that you'll go after that dream, your own publishing house.
00:43:40People would think I was crazy.
00:43:42It doesn't matter what people think.
00:43:43It matters what we do.
00:43:44That's what the world remembers.
00:43:48Okay.
00:43:50I promise.
00:43:57All right.
00:43:57Is everything okay?
00:44:06Yeah, I'm just getting updates from Leslie at the hospital.
00:44:10Skylar needs another MRI.
00:44:12No, is she okay?
00:44:14She may have torn another ligament during rehab.
00:44:17They're not sure, poor kid.
00:44:19Sorry.
00:44:20It's like I said before, I never leave work.
00:44:24Come on.
00:44:25I have an idea.
00:44:25Okay.
00:44:26Okay.
00:44:26Oh, Nate, I was just about to text you.
00:44:34About Skylar's MRI?
00:44:35How'd it go?
00:44:35Yeah, it's good.
00:44:37Oh, uh, this is Marie.
00:44:40Marie Leslie.
00:44:41Hi, I'm his neighbor.
00:44:42Do you think that we could go see her?
00:44:43Oh, yeah, she'd love to see you.
00:44:45Thanks.
00:44:50I know it's after visiting hours, but are you up for some company?
00:44:53Yes, come in.
00:44:54Come in.
00:44:56So, heard the good news.
00:45:01Talk said no surgery.
00:45:03Mom's calling everyone.
00:45:04Now maybe I can go home.
00:45:06Yeah, you bet.
00:45:06We'll do everything possible, kiddo.
00:45:08In the meantime, we brought you an early Christmas gift.
00:45:11I haven't read this one.
00:45:19I haven't read this one.
00:45:20I've only seen the movies.
00:45:22Well, then you're in for a treat, because no one tells a story better than Charles Dickens.
00:45:26Could I listen, too?
00:45:29Yeah?
00:45:30Come in.
00:45:33Here.
00:45:33Chapter one.
00:45:41Marley's ghost.
00:45:44Thank you for going ice skating with me.
00:45:46I actually had a lot of fun.
00:45:47Yeah, me too.
00:45:48And thank you for Christmas, Carol.
00:45:50That was a very nice touch.
00:45:50Well, I'm sorry the kids fell asleep before you got to say your big line.
00:45:57Hey, you know what?
00:45:58My friend Andy is hosting this holiday party on Saturday, and I don't usually go to these
00:46:04sorts of things, but tonight kind of got me in the spirit.
00:46:06Wait, do you want to be my plus one?
00:46:12I usually pick up extra shifts at the hospital on Saturday.
00:46:15Hey, hey.
00:46:15It's just I'm the new guy, and I feel like I need to prove myself.
00:46:17I get it.
00:46:18I totally get it.
00:46:19I've worked at Lion's Run for years, and I'm still trying to prove myself.
00:46:24For what it's worth, tonight was the most fun that I've had in New York.
00:46:30Thanks again.
00:46:31You made it a special night for all of us.
00:46:36See you, me.
00:46:45Did you miss me?
00:46:47Aw.
00:46:48I should probably get going at early shift in the morning.
00:46:51Great.
00:46:52Okay.
00:46:55Good night.
00:47:05What is happening?
00:47:06So, what do you think?
00:47:11You're a natural at creating a story, but I always knew that about you.
00:47:16You know, you're the reason I pursued writing.
00:47:22You're always my best critic, and you're why I signed on with Lion's Run.
00:47:27So, how's your book coming?
00:47:34I thought we agreed that you would hand in your chapters today.
00:47:37Let me just do a few more tweaks, and then I'll bring it by your house this weekend, okay?
00:47:40Yeah, no.
00:47:42I have a Christmas party this weekend.
00:47:44Why don't you just shoot me an email?
00:47:49Okay.
00:47:50In the meantime, do you want to give me a rundown of the story?
00:47:53Uh, wait, that's J.P.'s new book?
00:47:59Yeah.
00:48:00I was hoping to relaunch the children's department with it, but Henry doesn't see the point.
00:48:07That was always your dream.
00:48:09Inspiring the future today.
00:48:11Wasn't that your tagline?
00:48:13You remember that?
00:48:16Nate, Thomas is here for you?
00:48:19Um, I gotta go check on that.
00:48:23Okay.
00:48:23I will be right back.
00:48:24Sure.
00:48:31What a pleasant surprise.
00:48:33A parent donated a huge box of books, so I figured we could add them to the toy drive.
00:48:36Maybe surprise the kids with a new hospital library.
00:48:40Of course, I love it.
00:48:42The ornaments.
00:48:44It really worked.
00:48:48I should probably let you get back to work.
00:48:50Yeah, I probably should get back.
00:48:52Oh, hey.
00:48:54Andy's Christmas party tomorrow.
00:48:56You still need a plus one?
00:48:57Don't you have to work?
00:48:59I did promise myself that I would say yes to more than just double shifts.
00:49:02It's important to keep your promises.
00:49:07Unless you already have a plus one.
00:49:08No, nobody.
00:49:09No one.
00:49:09You're the one, the plus one, the, in addition to.
00:49:16Okay.
00:49:17Okay.
00:49:18And our finalists are Nate and Marie against Lucy and Brittany.
00:49:34And whoever wins gets one of these mystery gift bags.
00:49:41All right.
00:49:42So our final categories are Christmas food and Christmas activities.
00:49:45Oh, foods.
00:49:46Totes foods, right, babe?
00:49:47Food.
00:49:47We got this, babe.
00:49:48We're going to do food.
00:49:49Okay.
00:49:50Okay.
00:49:50Okay, this does not look good for us.
00:49:52She's four eggnogs deep, so I think we have a very good chance.
00:49:55Is that too old?
00:49:56No, it's okay.
00:49:58Okay.
00:49:58Ooh, ooh, ooh.
00:49:59Okay.
00:49:59They're red, and they're white, and they're mint.
00:50:02Candy cane.
00:50:03Yes.
00:50:04Um, ooh.
00:50:05Okay.
00:50:06It's a place?
00:50:07Manhattan.
00:50:08Singapore.
00:50:08Oh, you know, it's also a dog.
00:50:10It's like a dog.
00:50:10It's like a Mrs. Chen's dog.
00:50:11The little Snuffles.
00:50:12Snuffles, the little tiny.
00:50:13Are you already?
00:50:14Yes.
00:50:15You have ten seconds.
00:50:15Okay, okay, ooh, ooh, babe.
00:50:17Gobble, gobble.
00:50:18Turkey!
00:50:19Turkey!
00:50:19No, no, no, no, no.
00:50:20Gobble, gobble.
00:50:21Quack, quack.
00:50:21Cluck, cluck.
00:50:22Turkey, duck, chicken.
00:50:23Yes, put them all together.
00:50:25Gobble, gobble, quack.
00:50:25No!
00:50:27There we go.
00:50:28It's two duckies.
00:50:30No, who is that?
00:50:31Okay.
00:50:32And you only need three to win.
00:50:34Okay, three, three.
00:50:35Venus, Venus.
00:50:37All right, we got this.
00:50:38Hey, good luck.
00:50:38Break a leg up there.
00:50:39Okay.
00:50:40All right.
00:50:41Okay, you ready?
00:50:42You're going to a deep lunge first.
00:50:44All right.
00:50:45All right, ready?
00:50:46Got this?
00:50:48We got this.
00:50:49Go!
00:50:49Okay.
00:50:51Okay, it's Santa did this.
00:50:53He does this every Christmas Eve.
00:50:55Uh, deliver his presents.
00:50:56No, because he's up on the rooftop.
00:50:57He lands with his sleigh reindeer.
00:50:59How he gets inside the house.
00:51:00Down the chimney.
00:51:01Yes, yes, yes.
00:51:01Oh, oh, we did this the other night.
00:51:05Uh...
00:51:05Oh, ice skating, ice skating.
00:51:07Yes, yes, okay, good, good.
00:51:08Uh, um...
00:51:09Okay, living room, living room.
00:51:11Uh, living ten seconds.
00:51:12Tree, decorating.
00:51:13Yeah, yeah, but it's what you put on the tree.
00:51:14It's the tiny Tim.
00:51:15Tiny Miniman.
00:51:16Yes!
00:51:16No!
00:51:17You won!
00:51:18You won!
00:51:19No!
00:51:19Go, team.
00:51:22And now for your prize.
00:51:24I hope you like them.
00:51:25I picked them out myself.
00:51:31Oh, what?
00:51:32I love a cake.
00:51:34Oh!
00:51:35This is...
00:51:36Oh, my goodness.
00:51:38I knew you would love it.
00:51:39Thank you so much.
00:51:40Those are amazing.
00:51:41They are.
00:51:42So cute.
00:51:43I know you'll wear it well.
00:51:49I see you're enjoying the spoils of victory.
00:51:52Well, that's because winning has never looked better.
00:51:55Huh.
00:51:55Aw.
00:51:56Oh.
00:51:56This is work.
00:52:00I should probably take this.
00:52:03Hey, master.
00:52:04What's up?
00:52:05You two seem to have a good connection.
00:52:08Ah.
00:52:09Yeah.
00:52:09We're becoming good friends.
00:52:10Uh, friends?
00:52:12He's, like, the only guy helping us.
00:52:13You think that's because he loves cleaning?
00:52:18You like him.
00:52:20Admit it.
00:52:21He's charming.
00:52:22And handsome.
00:52:24It's not a bad thing.
00:52:28It's not Clark, is it?
00:52:29You guys are not handsome.
00:52:30No, absolutely not.
00:52:31I mean, it's weird working with him, and it makes me think about the past and the mistakes
00:52:36I made, but no.
00:52:38Nate is not Clark.
00:52:39I, I know he's not.
00:52:41It's just, I mean, this girl named Leslie just called him.
00:52:45They work together.
00:52:46She's very pretty.
00:52:47I just don't want to assume anything.
00:52:50It looks like a work call.
00:52:51I don't think I have anything to worry about.
00:52:54I know.
00:52:55I just don't want to assume, and I don't want to get caught up in the Christmas magic
00:52:59and project my idea of romance and make this into something it's not.
00:53:04Whoa, did you just say Christmas magic?
00:53:08Yeah, I don't know what's wrong with me.
00:53:10I don't know.
00:53:11Look, okay, I know this might sound crazy, but let's say those ornaments are magical.
00:53:17What happens after Christmas?
00:53:18Does this all go away?
00:53:19Does he go away?
00:53:20I just, I need a definite sign from the universe that this is real.
00:53:24That's what Christmas is about.
00:53:26Leaving.
00:53:28Just blow your heart.
00:53:30I should have put a mistletoe in that bag.
00:53:37Wait, do you have any?
00:53:39Maybe?
00:53:43Yeah, I know.
00:53:43I'm lucky that it fits.
00:53:44It's perfect.
00:53:46Yeah, I know.
00:53:46It's great.
00:53:47I wish that it would have been good.
00:53:50Can you turn your sweater off, please?
00:53:58No chance.
00:54:01I had a good time tonight.
00:54:02Your friends were fine.
00:54:03I don't think Brian's ever going to forgive you for that loss.
00:54:06Well, I sent him my Christmas playlist, so he's warming up to me.
00:54:10Really?
00:54:10You sent him your playlist?
00:54:11Some people still like the classics.
00:54:13Would you want to go to a gingerbread baking class with me?
00:54:22Wait, are you being serious?
00:54:24All of the nurses got passes, and I know it sounds a little bit silly, and that's what
00:54:26I thought at first, too, but then I thought maybe I should have more fun, and I was wondering
00:54:30if maybe you might want to.
00:54:34Anyways, it's the day after the lion's run party, so I know that might be a lot of Christmas
00:54:37for you.
00:54:39I'd love to.
00:54:39Yeah?
00:54:41Mm-hmm.
00:54:41No more bah humbug?
00:54:43Well, I've learned that if you screw it, you lose.
00:54:46That was so corny.
00:54:47It was funny.
00:54:48No, you didn't.
00:55:16Hey, sorry I'm late.
00:55:33Last week, before Christmas, all the festivities.
00:55:37So, how was your, uh, how was your party?
00:55:40Hey, so you read the chapters?
00:55:46Are you serious?
00:55:48You wrote about our entire relationship.
00:55:52Everything.
00:55:53What can I say?
00:55:54You're my muse.
00:55:55Oh, I'm not doing this.
00:55:56I'm not reliving the past with you.
00:55:58Marie, you're the perfect person to edit this.
00:56:01You know this story.
00:56:03Look, I want to capture all the emotions of first love.
00:56:07You know, wonder and pain.
00:56:09And the broken promises?
00:56:12Look, when you're young, promises are easier to make than to keep.
00:56:17You know, and we're older now.
00:56:19But why is it?
00:56:20You made a fool out of me.
00:56:23You practically promised that you were going to propose.
00:56:26I know.
00:56:26And I'm sorry.
00:56:29I didn't mean to break out with you on Christmas Eve.
00:56:32What?
00:56:32You wanted to wait until Christmas morning?
00:56:34No.
00:56:34No, I don't know.
00:56:36Look, when's a good time to break out?
00:56:37You're the one who insisted we went to the lighthouse.
00:56:41Oh, it's my fault.
00:56:42No, but it...
00:56:43It was obvious your heart was set on marriage.
00:56:46You wanted a ring for Christmas, and I was not ready.
00:56:49Because you met somebody else?
00:56:53I was young.
00:56:56I didn't know what I had.
00:56:58And I was easily distracted.
00:57:02It's like I always knew.
00:57:03I just didn't want to see it.
00:57:04Listen, I did not cheat on you.
00:57:12The world, the world is a big place.
00:57:16It was meant to be explored, and we owed it to each other to do that.
00:57:19That boy in that book, loved you very, very much.
00:57:37I'm going to write this book with you.
00:57:40Let's just make it a happy ending, even if it's fictional.
00:57:42Hey, I have your mail for you.
00:57:53Oh, thanks.
00:57:54What magic does Mom have in store for you today?
00:57:57Ah, this one's actually from my dad.
00:57:58Oh.
00:57:59Handwriting.
00:58:00The last time he was on mail duty, the package ended up down the hall.
00:58:03Ah, that's why he sent it to work.
00:58:05Better safe than sorry.
00:58:06All right, aren't you going to open it?
00:58:08Ah, yeah.
00:58:09I'll check it later.
00:58:09Where are you rushing off to?
00:58:11I'm going to surprise Nate at the hospital for lunch.
00:58:14Mmm, just friends, huh?
00:58:16Sure.
00:58:26Hey.
00:58:26Hi.
00:58:27Is Nate around?
00:58:29Oh, he's with a patient.
00:58:30Is he expecting you?
00:58:31No.
00:58:32I'll wait.
00:58:33Oh, it could be a while.
00:58:36Actually, can I go say hi to Skylar?
00:58:38Yeah, she's in the rec room.
00:58:39Thanks.
00:58:41Remove me from this place.
00:58:43I told you.
00:58:45These were shadows of things that have been, said the ghost.
00:58:50Marie.
00:58:51I was in the neighborhood, so I figured I would stop by and say hi.
00:58:55Did you talk to Santa?
00:58:58I did.
00:58:58He has all of your wishes, including some new books for your library.
00:59:02Did Santa bring you that?
00:59:04Uh, no, my dad sent it to me.
00:59:09Open it.
00:59:11Do you want to open it?
00:59:12It came with a note.
00:59:20You can read it.
00:59:23Chapters close and begin, but the story of you will never end.
00:59:27Keep marching forward, and rolling boulders will turn into stepping stones.
00:59:31What does that mean?
00:59:34It means, with storms come rainbows.
00:59:37You just gotta believe.
00:59:42Hi.
00:59:43Chapter close.
00:59:59Oh, thank you.
01:00:19Look at all the donations we got.
01:00:21It's too bad Nate's not here to see this.
01:00:22I know, he has to work a double.
01:00:25Oh, nice.
01:00:28I'm new to the Lions-run family, but I thought I would contribute.
01:00:32Oh.
01:00:34Wow.
01:00:35Hi.
01:00:36This is very generous.
01:00:38It's my pleasure.
01:00:41Would it be too much if I asked you for a dance?
01:00:44As friends.
01:00:46Let's show Henry you can play nice.
01:00:50Sure.
01:00:51Yeah?
01:00:52Yeah.
01:00:52Okay.
01:00:58You're stunning.
01:01:00Just as lovely as the first time I saw you.
01:01:04I emailed you notes.
01:01:06Yeah, I got them.
01:01:09I'm thinking about changing the end of the story.
01:01:12Oh, really?
01:01:13Yeah.
01:01:14I'm breaking up.
01:01:14It's just too sad.
01:01:17That's the reality.
01:01:18In the end, when the guy finds his fortune,
01:01:21he goes back for her
01:01:23and tells her what a fool he was
01:01:25and then sweeps her off her feet.
01:01:27I guess we'll see how the story evolves.
01:01:32So, um, that guy in Scrubs, the one you were talking to in the lobby the other day,
01:01:41delivered a box.
01:01:44You aren't together, right?
01:01:45Maybe.
01:01:46Maybe.
01:01:47Why?
01:01:48I don't know.
01:01:50Just saw him in the garage the other day, leaving with a pretty blonde girl.
01:01:56Oh, she and Scrubs, too?
01:01:57Hmm.
01:01:57That's Leslie.
01:01:58They're co-workers.
01:01:59Oh, okay.
01:02:00You seem pretty close for co-workers.
01:02:02It's almost like a couple, so...
01:02:04I'm sorry to interrupt.
01:02:05I'd just like to steal Clark away.
01:02:07Uh, a boy would like to meet our newest star.
01:02:09Oh, okay.
01:02:10All right.
01:02:10Excuse me.
01:02:11Here we go, everyone.
01:02:14This is our way at Wheezy.
01:02:17Big Pete.
01:02:26Ah, you both look beautiful.
01:02:29My wife loves shopping for the kids.
01:02:32We have two more giant bags out in the car.
01:02:34Oh, those are so great.
01:02:36I wish I could give them a published copy of your book,
01:02:39but I think Henry's going to need a little bit more convincing.
01:02:42But it's okay.
01:02:43I'm committed to this.
01:02:44I promise.
01:02:45You know what?
01:02:45I've been approached by Clark,
01:02:47and he pitched me the idea of launching the children's collection
01:02:49with established authors,
01:02:51and he said he sold the idea to Henry.
01:02:56I'll be right back.
01:03:01Look, I can write a children's book in my sleep.
01:03:04Okay, we can hire ghost writers if the authors are too busy.
01:03:06The key is to lock in readers when they're young,
01:03:08so we have them for life.
01:03:09Inspiring the future today.
01:03:11I like it.
01:03:12Gold mine.
01:03:13I like it.
01:03:13First you steal my idea,
01:03:14now you're stealing my tagline.
01:03:16Really?
01:03:16Look, you wanted me to sell Henry on the idea.
01:03:18I did that.
01:03:19It's exactly what you wanted.
01:03:21I'm giving it to you.
01:03:22All you see are dollar signs.
01:03:23It's not a money grab.
01:03:25Children deserve stories with imagination.
01:03:28Not ones that you just write in your sleep.
01:03:29It's reveals to them.
01:03:30Okay, we can do that later,
01:03:31but Henry cares about sales.
01:03:33I speak his language,
01:03:34so we'll make a good team.
01:03:35Just go with it.
01:03:36No, I'm not going to let you taint this with profit margins.
01:03:39Tell him the truth.
01:03:41Guys, guys, guys, it's a party.
01:03:43What's the problem, Marie?
01:03:47Marie wasn't expecting me to pitch the children's collection so soon.
01:03:53Henry, that's not true.
01:03:55I'm giving you an early Christmas present here, Marie.
01:03:57No, not like this.
01:04:04Marie.
01:04:15Season's greetings.
01:04:16Welcome to Santa's Kitchen.
01:04:17We're just about to get started.
01:04:19Is there a bathroom?
01:04:20I just want to wash my hands.
01:04:22Oh, oh, oh.
01:04:23I like responsible elves.
01:04:25Just down the hall.
01:04:26Uh, you okay?
01:04:28Uh, yeah.
01:04:29It's just work stuff.
01:04:31Because we don't have to stay.
01:04:33No, I'm fine.
01:04:34I've always wanted to be a responsible elf.
01:04:37Go find us a station.
01:04:38Oh, hey, Leslie.
01:04:50Marie, hi.
01:04:51What are you doing here?
01:04:53Uh, Nate invited me.
01:04:54Oh, great.
01:04:55Well, see you in class.
01:04:56Oh, okay.
01:05:05Let's raise our Christmas spirit, everyone.
01:05:08It's time to build gingerbread houses.
01:05:11I don't know what you're talking about.
01:05:14That's so cute.
01:05:15What?
01:05:16You are.
01:05:20Hey.
01:05:21Hey.
01:05:21I'm just trying.
01:05:26All right, move.
01:05:26Move.
01:05:27Is this going to work?
01:05:27It's good, yeah.
01:05:27Wait, it keeps falling.
01:05:29See?
01:05:30There.
01:05:31Actually looks pretty good.
01:05:32It actually does, doesn't it?
01:05:33Oh, my, my.
01:05:35You're missing your candy canes.
01:05:37Oh.
01:05:38Here, Nate.
01:05:38I have extra.
01:05:41I owe you one.
01:05:42One day I'm going to take you up on all those favors you owe me.
01:05:45All right.
01:05:46Here, here.
01:05:48There.
01:05:48Now where are you going?
01:05:52Nice.
01:05:56Ow!
01:05:56Ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch.
01:05:58You okay?
01:05:58Let me see.
01:05:59Yeah, no, I'm fine.
01:05:59I just burnt myself.
01:06:00Let me take a look at it.
01:06:01Oh.
01:06:03Oh.
01:06:04She's here.
01:06:06Does it feel better?
01:06:08You've got to be careful.
01:06:09Even the sweetest things can burn you.
01:06:13I need some air.
01:06:14I need some air.
01:06:23Hey, hey, hey.
01:06:24What's going on?
01:06:28I don't know what we're doing.
01:06:30I thought we were baking gingerbread houses.
01:06:33Right.
01:06:34I should go.
01:06:35Okay, wait.
01:06:35Why?
01:06:36Because everything is so new in your life.
01:06:39Your career, your...
01:06:41Everything is just about to take off,
01:06:43and I am just a neighbor who doesn't even like Christmas.
01:06:46You don't really believe that.
01:06:48It's the truth.
01:06:50Okay, look.
01:06:51I know that you've had your heart broken before,
01:06:53but that doesn't mean that you need to be scared.
01:06:55You think I'm scared?
01:06:56Yeah.
01:06:57Because I am.
01:06:58But at least I'm willing to try.
01:07:02Okay, can I ask you something?
01:07:03Was Leslie with you when you dropped off the books?
01:07:09At Lyons Run?
01:07:10Yeah, so?
01:07:11Oh.
01:07:12She was helping me.
01:07:14That's what friends do.
01:07:15I can't do this.
01:07:18Not again.
01:07:19I can't risk getting burned because it hurts too much.
01:07:22Wait, wait, wait.
01:07:22Please.
01:07:23No, don't go.
01:07:24Don't go.
01:07:25Okay?
01:07:26Why don't we just go out, the two of us?
01:07:28No distractions.
01:07:29The problem is, is there's always distractions.
01:07:33I just, I think it's best that we just close this chapter
01:07:37before we break our hearts.
01:07:41So you're just gonna give up?
01:07:45It'll be for the best.
01:07:46It'll be for the best.
01:08:16It'll be for the best.
01:08:46I watched it rain.
01:08:47You knew I'd drive down here.
01:08:50I guess I could use some real FaceTime.
01:08:53Oh.
01:08:54Come on, honey.
01:08:56Tell me your troubles.
01:09:02So that's the story.
01:09:05So, you sabotaged your career,
01:09:08then your new relationship with your handsome neighbor,
01:09:10and then you come home and dismantle the tree.
01:09:13You know, I believe that those ornaments were magical.
01:09:18Like, every time I hung one on the tree,
01:09:20something wonderful would pop into my life,
01:09:23reminding me that happy endings do exist.
01:09:26Honey, there is always magic in Christmas.
01:09:29Your father gave this to me when we first got married.
01:09:35Oh, my God.
01:09:45It's beautiful, right?
01:09:47A simple, open heart.
01:09:50Or hollow.
01:09:51It could be hollow.
01:09:52Now, that's the beauty of life.
01:09:55It changes based on our perspective.
01:09:57You walk around and think of it as a hollow heart,
01:10:00and life's gonna keep passing you by.
01:10:02But, if you'll allow it to be an open heart,
01:10:08you'll be surprised not just by how much love comes in,
01:10:11but by how much you give back.
01:10:15That's what dreams are made of.
01:10:18Like magic.
01:10:21Magic doesn't exist.
01:10:22It does if you believe it does.
01:10:24It does if you believe it does.
01:10:54Good morning.
01:11:02Good morning.
01:11:09That was quite the scene the other night.
01:11:12I'm sorry.
01:11:14Clark and I have our differences,
01:11:16but I should have never confronted him at the Christmas party.
01:11:18I think it's best to take you off the book.
01:11:25But Clark won't have it.
01:11:32Says that you're the best story editor he's ever worked with,
01:11:34that you have a passion for the craft,
01:11:36an ability to encourage writers,
01:11:38and I agree.
01:11:42We have three days until Christmas,
01:11:44so I expect you to work out your issues with Clark
01:11:47and get back in the ballgame.
01:11:52I appreciate his kind words,
01:11:55but I want to relaunch the children's department
01:11:58with J.P.'s book.
01:11:59It is something so special.
01:12:01Children's books are off the table.
01:12:03Okay, check the numbers.
01:12:04They're not a good investment for us right now.
01:12:05Well, we don't even have to do a full collection.
01:12:07We could just start with J.P.'s.
01:12:08He's already signed with us.
01:12:09Do you want to run the fiction department, yes or no?
01:12:12Yes.
01:12:13Then focus on Clark's book.
01:12:16If J.P. ever finishes his adult novel,
01:12:18then you can go and work on that.
01:12:32Maria, are we okay?
01:12:37No.
01:12:39I'm resigning.
01:12:42Oh.
01:12:43Consider this my two weeks' notice.
01:12:45Marie.
01:12:48Thank you so much for everything.
01:12:50I've learned a lot.
01:12:51Oh, God.
01:12:54It's time for me to go follow my heart.
01:12:59Okay.
01:13:00Okay.
01:13:09Clark.
01:13:14Marie.
01:13:15I've been trying you all weekend.
01:13:16And about the party, don't worry.
01:13:18I spoke to Henry.
01:13:20And?
01:13:20And I resigned.
01:13:24It's all my fault.
01:13:25No.
01:13:25It was actually my decision.
01:13:26I'm so sorry for everything.
01:13:31Ruining Christmas.
01:13:33Again.
01:13:34Nobody can ruin my Christmas.
01:13:37Dare I ask for any last-minute notes?
01:13:41Yeah.
01:13:42The woman in your book, she doesn't need saving.
01:13:46She saves herself, and it's a much happier ending.
01:13:51Merry Christmas, Clark.
01:13:52So what are you going to do now?
01:13:57It's Christmas.
01:13:59I'm going to go spread some Christmas magic.
01:14:03We'll need room for presents.
01:14:05And so this is the room we use for meetings.
01:14:07Is it available?
01:14:12Yes.
01:14:13Nothing's on the schedule until January.
01:14:16It's perfect.
01:14:20There are many homes they visited, but always with a happy end.
01:14:27Spirits stood beside sick beds, and they were cheerful, on foreign lands, and they were
01:14:31close at home by struggling men, and they were patient in their greater hope by poverty.
01:14:36And it was rich.
01:14:38In almshouse, hospital, and jail.
01:14:41In misery's every refuge, where vain man and his little brief authority had not made
01:14:45fast the door, and borrowed the spirit of it.
01:14:48He left his blessing.
01:14:57Joy to the world, the Lord has come.
01:15:03Let earth receive her king.
01:15:09Hey.
01:15:10Hey.
01:15:10Hey.
01:15:14I was just admiring the beautiful Christmas tree across the street.
01:15:17Yeah, it really is beautiful.
01:15:21So are you going to work?
01:15:24No, I'm just doing some last-minute Christmas shopping for my family.
01:15:28Tomorrow's Christmas Eve.
01:15:29Are you just going to overnight it?
01:15:30No, I booked a 9 a.m. flight for tomorrow morning.
01:15:37What about your white Christmas?
01:15:40Maybe next year.
01:15:41I don't know.
01:15:44I guess I'm going to be trading snow for white sandy beaches.
01:15:47It'll still be festive, though.
01:15:49My family, they throw a big dinner party at the restaurant.
01:15:52Local lighthouse shines red and green.
01:15:53It's kind of like that tree.
01:15:54Did you just say lighthouse?
01:15:59Yeah, grew up on Sanibel Island.
01:16:00Lighthouses are pride and joy.
01:16:02My parents even named the restaurant after it.
01:16:05Oh.
01:16:09My ride's here.
01:16:12Merry Christmas, Marie.
01:16:16Merry Christmas.

01:17:10Dear Nate,
01:17:12broken hearts are often lost hearts.
01:17:16It takes a special light to guide them back against the fear
01:17:19that was trying to sink them.

01:17:54Oh, hey, Marie. You looking for your meal?
01:18:04Uh, no, I'm looking for Nate Thomas. Have you seen him?
01:18:06He left a few minutes ago, spending Christmas in Florida. Lucky guy.
01:18:24Oh, Marie. I am sorry if I'm late.
01:18:30Oh, no, it's fine. My dad, a.k.a. Santa, is around the corner, just about to make his entrance with the kids.
01:18:34Oh, hey.
01:18:40Hey, did you invite Nate?
01:18:43Yeah, he's going to Florida.
01:18:46Oh, is that where he's from?
01:18:48Yeah, Santa Belle Island.
01:18:51The family owns a restaurant called The Lighthouse.
01:18:54Nate, is The Lighthouse?
01:18:58No, it's too late.
01:19:01Hey, don't worry about it. It's Christmas time. Nothing bad can happen.
01:19:10Ready?
01:19:11Yeah.
01:19:15Come on in, kids.
01:19:18Merry Christmas.
01:19:19Merry Christmas.
01:19:22Go open your gifts.
01:19:23Welcome to your own Christmas wonderland.
01:19:26Oh, I'm so good.
01:19:28Did Santa bring all this?
01:19:30Why don't you go ask him?
01:19:32Ho, ho, ho!
01:19:34Merry Christmas!
01:19:37No way!
01:19:38It's Santa!
01:19:39Merry Christmas!
01:19:41The children tuck into their beds, and before falling asleep, the boy asked one more question.
01:19:48Promise we do it again next year?
01:19:50The majestic star twirled and gently whispered, I promise.
01:19:55Where can we get that book?
01:19:56Where can we get that book?
01:20:01Hopefully from me.
01:20:03I'm opening my own publishing company, and with J.P.'s permission, I'd like The Christmas
01:20:09Treasure Adventure to be my very first book.
01:20:15Yes.
01:20:15Yes, yes, but only if all these adorable little faces get their own copy.
01:20:21Absolutely.
01:20:23Great.
01:20:25Oh.
01:20:26When did you come up with this wonderful idea, and what took you so long?
01:20:31Well, someone once reminded me that the possible slow fuse is lit by the imagination.
01:20:37I thought you were going to Florida.
01:20:50I was.
01:20:51And then I got this.
01:20:55I'm so sorry for the way I acted.
01:20:57I was completely in the wrong.
01:21:00I really hope you can forgive me.
01:21:01Somewhere between Christmas past and present, I realized what I want for my future.
01:21:13That's for you.
01:21:16Tiny Tim always lived in hope, not fear, and I now know how important that is.
01:21:22My heart is open because of you.
01:21:29After our class, our fight.
01:21:31I almost lost hope in you.
01:21:35In us.
01:21:39Almost.
01:21:44You know, the first time you met, you asked me what I wanted for Christmas?
01:21:47And I know the answer.
01:21:50It's you.
01:21:51Well, that's the greatest present anyone can ever give me.
01:21:53So does this mean you're going to spend Christmas with me?
01:22:05Yeah, I would love to.
01:22:08What are you thinking about?
01:22:10Just that happy endings really do exist.
01:22:12All right.
01:22:29Yeah.
