Skipton coach Mitch Walsh speaks after CHFL win over Dunnstown
Transcript
00:00Yeah, thanks Jesse. Yeah, we're really happy. We've been trying not to look at the ladder too much
00:07and just be trying to build on our momentum. We've started to really put a bit of a side together.
00:14We had a few injuries early on in the year, so just to be able to get a few pieces of the puzzle back together,
00:19start to tune in on our defensive systems and to be able to implement that today for four quarters was really important for us.
00:27I think, you know, it helps to kick straight as well. Dunstown, you know, we definitely didn't completely dominate the game.
00:34They definitely had their chances, so for our forwards to sort of kick straight, it was really pleasing for us.
00:40Yeah, the buzz obviously on Jesse with his first game. Yeah, for us it was just about him coming in and buying into our systems
00:48and it certainly wasn't going to be all about him today. You know, he's a really unselfish player and he knew that he had a role to play
00:54at different times and, you know, they've got some really experienced defenders in Britty and Yarkas and guys like that.
01:01So we just had to make sure that we had to take those sort of guys away from the ball at different stages
01:06and try and get a mismatch at any given stage. And, you know, Bailey McKimmy was able to do that for us at stages,
01:12get up nice and high and then get on the spoils of a few towards the end as well and finish up with five.
01:18That's just the sort of selfless mentality that we really need our forwards to have and buying defensively as well.
01:24That was the most pleasing thing.
