00:26:14Making his way to the ring from Boston, Massachusetts, playing in at 210 pounds.
00:26:20He is the 2025 Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal winner, Carmelo Hayes.
00:26:30You know, and since that Battle Royal win, it's been an interesting past few months.
00:26:38Hasn't been grabbing the W's, but he's been looking really good.
00:26:41Most recently coming off of closely contested Money in the Bank qualifier with Andrade.
00:26:45This is Melo's second time competing in the King of the Ring Tournament.
00:26:48Yeah, inching closer and closer to smashing through into that top bracket here on SmackDown.
00:26:55A victory in the King of the Ring Tournament would really push Melo's career over the edge.

00:28:49fascinating matchup in terms of styles isn't Wade yeah an absolute mix of pretty much everything
00:29:09my eye of course immediately drawn to the viper Randy Orton the man who was the runner up in last
00:29:16year's king of the ring tournament a very controversial ending to that match with Gunther
00:29:22over in Saudi Arabia Randy Orton's shoulders not down for the three count but Gunther got the win
00:29:28Randy Orton will look to fix that this year yeah that was the ref's discretion in that finals of
00:29:34king of the ring last year terrible discretion I might add it was clearly up in the air they were
00:29:40able to tangle later that summer it's great to have Randy back and after what happened at
00:29:45backlash back on May 10th against John Cena and here's what I find interesting oh that was a roll
00:29:51up Mello quickly trying to finish things off and then he runs right into the viper John Cena's made
00:29:57it clear he's not handing out rematches he's got limited dates limited defenses if anyone wants
00:30:02another crack at him such as Randy Orton or Cody Rhodes he's gonna have to earn that crack the long
00:30:09way ie winning this tournament oh would you look at Alistair Black as he moonsaults his way out onto the
00:30:16floor right into Mello almost a BFT though almost an RKO there the firepower is out early and then a
00:30:24black mass attempt as well fatal four-way king of the ring opening round
00:30:30wait everybody in this fatal four-way nap bashful about putting forth their best stuff early on well
00:30:44it's a smart thing to do look there's so many distractions in a full way like this you've got
00:30:48to hope your opponent the one you're aiming for at least hasn't got both eyes on you catch him quick
00:30:53with a BFT on RKO etc a win this thing before it really gets going LA Knight and Randy Orton in the
00:31:02middle of the ring and now all four participants out onto the floor most punches from Alistair Black and
00:31:09Carmelo Hayes on the other side of the ring they've had quite the confrontation over the past six weeks
00:31:14or so Black generally getting the better of it but highly competitive matches there's very nothing the
00:31:22referee can do about this brawling on the outside of the ring no countouts in this one
00:31:27Randy we're gonna chase down the megastar so much pent-up anger and aggression in Randy Orton at the
00:31:38moment clearly still living after what went down in backlash in St. Louis several weeks ago
00:31:45cheated out of the WWE Championship by John Cena versus circumstances far different now than
00:31:52they were then as our truth came down to the ring that night this ever evolving landscape
00:32:00allegiances beliefs friendships they all change in the blink of an eye here Alistair Black snap suplex
00:32:08right to the lateral press cover and the kick out at a two count and here's the issue you saw on the
00:32:13outside Randy Orton and LA Knight battling away you can't win a match on the outside and immediately
00:32:18realizing that was Alistair Black going for that quick pin and almost stealing the victory Melo sends
00:32:24Alistair Black out as Orton and Knight continue on and now look at Melo just smart to at least take the
00:32:34cover against Orton after LA Knight and LA Knight looks at him says hold on a second that's not how this is
00:32:38gonna go negotiation going on form an alliance as early as you can take at least one man out of the
00:32:45equation makes your path to victory just that much easier and now Black drags Melo right out and slams
00:32:55him into the barrier such a fine balance between keeping on your toes keeping on guard yet wanting to go on the
00:33:04attack drop your guard for a second but all targets are pointed in your direction
00:33:10and Viper hooks the leg arm is on the rope Alistair Black just eight are announced there thanks to that
00:33:19pull on the tights from Carmelo Hayes I felt that was a little unnecessary Joe Tex big thud that came

00:34:01we get to the night of champions Saturday June 28th Randy Orton LA Knight Alistair Black and Melo
00:34:08when you were there in LA wait calling the action at money in the bank and LA Knight there was a moment
00:34:19there on the ladder where I think everybody in the into a dome felt Knight was going to cash in
00:34:25right in LA LA Knight had been attacked by Seth Rollins his crew earlier in the matchup still almost
00:34:32winning the thing but denied at the death we're gonna go one better in the king of the ring tournament now
00:34:39oh how about that tremendous reflexes there from Carmelo Hayes just too much quick too
00:34:47and then springboarding with the leg drop backwards leap like that but still so precise really does have
00:34:54gifts that most of the roster cannot comprehend does Carmelo Hayes
00:34:58again springboarding and coming back on the attack of Alistair Black
00:35:05feline abilities and from downtown here comes Carmelo flying out to the floor Carmelo Hayes
00:35:14is in control here in this fatal four-way king of the ring first round but LA Knight cleans things up
00:35:22it's again the issue in getting excited too quickly with your own performance take your eye off the ball for a split second
00:35:30and just slamming him into our new reinforced announced desk
00:35:40and guess who's here oh Knight able to get away from it
00:35:47Alistair Black unable to do so
00:35:52the Viper smashing Alistair Black right on top of the announce desk
00:36:00we got a bunch of smashed monitors and i'm sure the spine of Alistair Black must be pretty smashed up itself
00:36:07after that impact meanwhile back in the ring LA Knight taking advantage against Melo yeah and
00:36:14that's the word advantage you have the advantage it's one on one two men down on the outside you gotta win it now
00:36:24as Melo trying to regain himself and fight back while seated up on top of the corner
00:36:30back and forth they go
00:36:39mega star looking to go big here while he has the moment
00:36:45sees it
00:36:45See Melo lock it up
00:36:49trying to defend against the superplex
00:36:52battling with all his might but wait up that's just too long for the Viper to stay down back into the fire fight with an effort of his own
00:37:02nobody does it better
00:37:04Randy Orton trying to take that position that Knight had
00:37:06Melo rakes the eyes fight back but look at the step up kick
00:37:11by Alistair Black
00:37:12toe to the eyeball from Alistair Black so precise with those strikes
00:37:20he looked to send Orton out of the ring but instead he turns things around against the Viper right into the post
00:37:26now for a take two the mega star leaping skyward
00:37:31Melo equal to it gets sent back is he gonna fly from there

00:37:40oh and coming in and making the save at the last possible minute is Alistair Black
00:37:45boy what an interesting sequence of events here
00:37:58from Rupp Arena in Lexington fatal four-way to advance in king of the ring
00:38:04see who can get out of this first round as
00:38:07Carmelo hay spent a lot of time up
00:38:10in the corner there and time again was fighting back and then eventually was able to create some
00:38:15space against LA Knight and land the splash yeah
00:38:19milliseconds away from victory had it not been for the razor sharp timing of Alistair Black who's now on the offense
00:38:32Hayes looking to take advantage well these two know each other so well after the past several weeks of battles
00:38:38it's now counter for counter what else do you got in the tank
00:38:43it up back on may 9th on may 16th as well
00:38:49it's black able to hold out against the O'Connor roll attempt but then takes the super kick and gets sent out of the ring
00:38:54what a sweet shot to the jaw but don't sleep now oh god look who's waiting on him
00:38:59with a garvin stomp as sadistic as mean as nasty as it gets and at this point Orton seems to have all the time in the world
00:39:10to exact some punishment on this young pretender
00:39:13just targeting every joint
00:39:19you're on the receiving end of this too many times

00:40:21several minutes of this one while mellow and alistair black with all the beef between those
00:40:26two are quite happy to scrap it out amongst themselves it's almost two separate matches
00:40:33within this fatal four-way thus far big back elbow from mellow
00:40:40mellow quick on his feet and then the roll-up
00:40:47carmelo hayes just such a natural at this perhaps ko there
