Wat Ku is situated near the Chao Phraya River in Bang Pood Subdistrict, Pak Kret, Nonthaburi. The temple construction is of Mon architecture.  Wat Ku or Wat Phra Nang Rua Lom was built in 1752. It was formerly named Wat Lang Suan, but later, on May 31st, 1880, the royal yacht of Queen Sunantha Kumariratana, the first queen consort of King Rama V, passed by Bang Pa In, and the yacht sank, resulting in the deaths of Queen Sunantha Kumariratana and Queen Kannaporn Petchsopang.

00:00What Ku in Patra is a stunning temple. The temple is of Mon architecture.

00:14Wat Ku or Wat Fra Nong Rue Lam was built in 1752.

00:19It used to name Wat Lang Suan but later on May 31, 1880.

00:25The royal yacht of Queen Sunantha Kumariratana, the first queen consort of King Rama V,

00:32passed by Bang Pa Inn and the yacht got an accident as it sank until Queen Sunantha Kumariratana and Queen Kanaporn Pechizopang passed away.

00:41Later, the bodies and shipwrecks were dredged out and set down at this temple.

00:47So, it was named Wat Ku after this incident since then.

00:51Wat Ku is situated nearby Chaopraya River in Bangkud sub-district.

00:56Pak Kret, Nong Thaburi. The temple construction is of Mon architecture.

01:02There is one old Buddhist sanctuary decorated with mural paintings in Mon style which very well reflect the history of the Buddha.

01:10Besides, there is another outdoor Buddhist sanctuary which is the place where the reclining Buddha image was installed.

01:17On the side of the sanctuary, there is a palace that was built to commemorate Queen Sunantha.

01:24The palace was imitated from tetrahedron pavilion of Bang Pa Inn Palace.

01:29It has been said that the palace is very sacred as there are many times where a group of alligator came over and paid their respect to the queen.

01:37Those who does not believe in the holy of the palace will somehow encounter bad things.

01:44Anyone interested to come over Wat Ku can travel by either car or boat.

01:49If you are traveling by car, start from Da Nong Pak Kret and turn left into Soi Wat Ku along Sukha Prashasawan Road.

01:57Keep going for 3 more kilometers and you see Wat Ku on your left.

02:02Anyone traveling by boat, take a boat from Da Nong Pak Kret to the north for about 3 kilometers.

02:08The boat ride will take you only 10 minutes and you will spot the temple on your right.
