00:17Tomb Raider on PlayStation PS1 and PSX basically all the same shit but I like
00:24cinema but anyways on with the review so yes this game was made by IDAS I think it's one of the first
00:34games I believe and it was a launch title for the PlayStation I might be wrong I don't know
00:39because I never had a PlayStation back when it was popular so anyways story of Tomb Raider is you
00:48plays a sexy adventurer by the name of Laura Croft who is equivalent of Indiana Jones except with a nicer
00:57rack and anyways Laura Croft her services are needed by some rich lady by the name of Jacqueline Natla so
01:09she wants you to retrieve this artifact called the scion and I'm sure at first you probably thinking
01:16like oh so what she's an explorer looking for an artifact big whoop but trust me it starts off
01:22slow but later on in the game the story is more intriguing just plot twists it's just good so
01:29definitely good story I don't want to spoil it because I'd rather you play for yourself so as you
01:37start the game you have the choice of going to Laura's home in her big-ass mansion basically it's
01:44just a tutorial you go through her house basically teaches you how to play the game ranges from
01:50platforms platform jumping swimming acrobatics just the important stuff you need to know for the game
01:57now in the main game you go and explore exotic locales such as Egypt Atlantis Incan ruins and other
02:07places and these places are riddled with danger such as death traps ranging from giant boulders the
02:15cliche uh Indiana Jones dun dun dun uh spikes other crazy death traps as well as enemies killer animals
02:25like wolves bats bears dinosaurs yeah I said it dinosaurs they have dinosaurs in the museum as well as fire
02:34breathing demons so the main goal in each level is to find an artifact or a bunch of keys to open a door to the next level and there's a lot of platforming this game has a lot of platforming I kid you not although the most notable annoyance about platforming in this game is the camera
02:56and it's just really annoying how the camera just focuses on you and it doesn't focus on both like the
03:04jump you're gonna make onto the next platform and the platform that you're on you kind of have to like
03:08second guess where the platform is like you have to see it first and then back up and then try to you know
03:15second guess it and jump it which is pretty annoying I mean I guess you call it challenging but I think it's more of an annoyance than anything
03:23now when I was talking about the enemies I actually failed to mention the weapons that you get to
03:31protect you from them so you get your basic pistols which never run on ammo which is nice as well as
03:38Uzi shotgun magnums and others or actually I named them all but anyways and there's also health packs just in case you get into a pinch
03:51also this game has a lot of puzzle solving and most of them are pretty simplistic nothing too hard
04:00now for the audio so the music in this game is pretty peaceful melodic and dramatic and one of the most notable
04:13things in this game is when you play through the levels like most of the time it's silent I mean I don't know why
04:20it's silent most of the time but like it the music like plays when you get to like an important part
04:27of the level I guess like you explore a new room and it plays the music which is kind of weird although
04:33I kind of thought they should just played music throughout the whole game instead of making it
04:38silent most of the time I mean there's nothing wrong with silence but uh music would have been nice you
04:45you know and as for the cutscenes I'd say the voice acting is pretty top-notch as for basic sounds like
04:55grunts gunfire the sound of the traps clinking and clacking some of the animals sounds pretty uh you
05:08know just normal pretty good uh nothing to complain about really as for the controls in this game I
05:16describe them as just you know pick up and play pretty easy nothing too difficult now the graphics in
05:22this game can be described as pretty decent I mean back when this game came out the graphics were like
05:30mind-blowing amazing but I don't think it uh hold up to today's standards now don't get me wrong
05:38as I said before they're still pretty decent but the levels were a little too pixelated for my taste
05:47I mean because there'd be certain parts of the level that were like pixelated on the wall
05:52were on the floor and uh kind of make your eyes hurt well actually they didn't make my eyes hurt but
05:59it was just kind of annoying see seeing the floor move and the walls move although I did like the
06:07effects they did with the water the shimmering on the top of the water surface so that was pretty cool
06:13as for the character models they looked very well done and uh yeah I'm talking about Laura and her
06:22most notable feature her boobies no I'm just kidding but uh but yeah the character models actually look
06:30better than the environments themselves I'd say but I'm not going to bash Eidos too much I mean
06:37because it was the first Tomb Raider game so of course the first game's gonna look a little rough
06:42especially uh if it's a PlayStation game like a first generation but uh yeah actually it looked
06:49pretty decent on uh PlayStation 2 PS3 with the texture mapping so it looked a little better so
06:57now for the cutscenes I think they were very well done although the one cutscene where uh Laura is
07:08riding her motorcycle kind of made me jealous because we didn't get to do that in the
07:12actual game but you know I'm probably just nitpicking there but like hey what am I gonna ride the
07:18motorcycle man but anyways they're still very well done I'd say the replay value for this game is
07:27pretty moderate you know in between and once you beat the game you unlock all the levels of course
07:34and you can go back and play your favorite uh level and I'd have to say my favorite one was the lost
07:40valley the one with the dinosaurs definitely uh one of my favorite levels so all in all it's a great
07:48game and I give this game an eight out of ten thank you for watching and peace out gamers
