I think the buzz in the room today just speaks for itself. The collaboration which has already
00:06
taken place, the sharing of ideas and experiences is one of the things I think makes the world
00:11
a wonderful place.
00:12
The tech industry has dominated the global economy for decades now, and new innovations
00:16
have been pushing our lives into the future, growing opportunities and improving people's
00:21
lives in countless ways.
00:23
Wales may not scream tech hub. You might think more about our musical heritage or our green
00:28
hills and valleys, but more and more, little old Wales is becoming a big hitter on the
00:33
global market. We're central to the semiconductor industry in the UK, and there's promise for
00:37
a lot more growth in the future.
00:40
Wales is globally leading in some of the tech sectors. Crop-on semiconductors, for example,
00:46
fintech, we're really growing in that space as well, and medtech is another space in which
00:51
we really excel. So Wales is really getting a name for itself, I think, on the international
00:56
stage. So pulling together the tech businesses and giving them the opportunity to collaborate
01:00
is really important. And also having some real expertise in the tech sector here today
01:05
to help with those global export ambitions is really, really important.
01:09
You know, whilst the asset paper title made in UK, it's also, you know, based in this particular
01:15
event based in Wales, has that particular focus of also drawing in the Welsh businesses
01:19
and encouraging them to look at what is out there on the wider scale, not just locally,
01:26
but for tech businesses that, you know, the world is their ocean, really, and it's good
01:30
to be able to support businesses and encourage them to look outside the box and look further
01:36
across the world. The event of the Cardiff City Stadium highlights all of the new, innovative
01:41
companies that are popping up around Wales, and some of them are making a real impact on
01:45
the global market. Wales Interactive is a Welsh video game company who have produced some
01:50
of the biggest games in the world in the last few years, and they want to be a part of the
01:53
tech revolution happening in Wales. Absolutely. And we just announced one of our upcoming
01:59
games in September at one of the biggest gaming showcases in the world, PC Gaming Show.
02:04
And we got to basically do a worldwide premiere announcing that game and a trailer and millions
02:11
of people watching it worldwide. So it all feels very exciting at Wales Interactive at
02:15
the moment. We're releasing games every single year, sometimes even more than one. So yeah,
02:20
it's just getting bigger and better every year, to be honest. It's very exciting.
02:24
Not all just video games, but some companies like Space Forge, which produce semiconductor materials
02:29
in space. They say they're cutting-edge technology. They can make tech in all parts of our lives
02:35
more energy and cost-efficient. And yes, they really do make their products physically in space.
02:41
What we want to do in particular, though, is create those materials in space. We take advantage
02:46
of the space environment, particularly the microgravity and the vacuum of space. And we use that
02:51
to grow what is essentially a superior quality crystal. And we bring that back to Earth.
02:55
And we use that as the base, then, for growing more semiconductor materials.
