00:00And one that I share.
00:03I've got a response for that that shows that when my Democratic colleagues ask nearly every nominee before this committee,
00:15this Congress, whether the executive branch must follow court orders and then attack them for any kind of a nuanced answer,
00:24I'd like to quote a witness for the Democrats at a recent hearing, a Professor Shaw that gave this sort of an answer.
00:34Quote, I would not rule out ever the possibility that a sufficiently egregious order,
00:42there should be some consideration if there is some way.
00:46I think it's a qualified answer, yes, in an extremely narrow band of cases.
00:54I think it would be considered yes, end of quote.
00:57This gotcha question is just an attempt to manufacture disagreements.
01:02All nominees we're voting on today are clearly committed to the rule of law.
01:08Mr. Chairman, if I could respond to that.
01:10Professor Shaw was indeed a Democratic witness, but I can tell you this much.
01:14She was not seeking a nomination to be approved to any position in any administration.
01:19And if she were, I'd ask her to clarify that answer.
01:23And if it didn't, if it came back as ambiguous as you've just read it, I wouldn't vote for her.
01:33I'd like to enter into the record.
01:40Two press releases from the Department of Homeland Security dated June 9th and 10th this year.
01:49The June 9th release highlights some of the dangerous criminals ICE has removed from the streets.
01:57These include offenders who've molested children and who've committed domestic violence, vehicular manslaughter, grand theft, narcotics violations, identity theft, robbery, burglary, and battery.
02:15These dangerous offenders aren't martyrs, but should be, that we should be celebrating.
02:24On June the 10th, the release reads in part, quote,
02:28Rioters are throwing rocks and Molotov cocktails at law enforcement, defacing public property, entering, setting cars on fire, defacing buildings, assaulting law enforcement, and burning American flags, end of quote.
02:49Riots aren't peaceful protests, which is protected by the First Amendment.
02:56We should all condemn violence against law enforcement.
03:00And I ask that the releases and they're entirely being entered into the record without objection.
03:09That is so, that's done.
03:13We're still waiting.
03:14People are on their way.
03:15We can do the voice vote on Parsons.
03:18Okay.
03:19We can do this.
03:19We have a quorum, so we've agreed that we can have a voice vote on Ronald Parsons to be U.S. Attorney for South Dakota.
03:30All in favor of reporting this nomination, say aye.
03:34Aye.
03:35All opposed, say no.
03:37No.
03:38The ayes have it.
03:40Mr. Chairman, I wish to be recorded in the negative.
03:43Okay.
03:44Who has?
03:45Oh.
03:45Blumenthal.
03:46Yeah.
03:46Recorded as Senator Blumenthal.
03:47Mr. Chairman, Senators Booker and Padilla asked to be recorded as no on Parsons as well.
03:53Okay.
