¿Qué es la película de Clare?
00:30
Honestly, because of how intense and complicated her relationship was with her mom.
00:37
I think that it was such an interesting dynamic to explore.
00:42
And then Claire is also just such a troubled person and complicated.
00:48
And I love complicated characters.
00:51
I absolutely love the script.
00:53
I can remember reading it.
00:54
I was sick in bed with COVID and I was kind of, you know, reading a bunch of scripts.
00:58
And I opened this one up and I was like, this is extraordinary.
01:01
The writing was so clear and so compelling and really surprising.
01:06
And then I was completely shocked and delighted by the twist later on.
01:12
And Kate is someone who is, you know, it's deceptive, you know, who she is.
01:20
You know, you really do feel like she's not someone who's going to be capable,
01:24
who's really going to be able to act on anything.
01:25
She's struggling with grief and trying to keep this farm going all by herself.
01:31
And as a daughter who's an addict and it's rough, you know,
01:35
she's sort of at the bottom of the barrel emotionally.
01:37
And so it's really surprising what she's able to do.
01:41
Oh, I love Michael.
01:48
Working with him, he is so sweet.
01:52
And I mean, I just, I loved every day.
01:57
I felt like he was just so in love with the story and so in love with these characters
02:01
and so thoughtful, everything that he brought to the table.
02:07
It's just, he had so much detail and care behind everything that he wanted to do.
02:12
Care.
02:12
I think that's a great word for Michael.
02:15
I mean, I think he really cared so much about everything
02:18
and brought a real sense of calm to the set as well.
02:23
He was really very, very prepared, really thoughtful about how he was going to tell the story
02:29
and let, you know, gave us enough support at the same time that he let us do what we needed to do emotionally.
02:35
He set a great tone.
02:38
He had a lot of, there were a lot of obstacles.
02:40
There were crazy weather obstacles with smoke coming down from Canada
02:44
and we'd have electrical storms and have to shut down.
02:46
And then we were struck down by the strike.
02:49
So we shot this movie and then had to come back an entire year later to complete it.
02:54
That was rough.
02:55
And I honestly can't believe that he was able to hold it together so masterfully that entire time.
03:01
He was just great.
03:08
It wasn't hard.
03:10
It was great working with Sidney.
03:13
She's just a phenomenal actress and so prepared and has a great work ethic
03:18
and is very emotionally available.
03:21
And I think that this is a dynamic.
03:23
The mother-daughter relationship is something we're both familiar with
03:25
and interested in too, you know, about how strong this bond is, how elastic it is,
03:31
what it can hold, what it demands, how you, I don't know,
03:37
it's something that can really define a lot of your life.
03:39
And it was wonderful to have a partner like Sidney to explore it, you know,
03:43
because we really were able to build it together very quickly and very easily.
03:48
Well, I've mentioned this, but I'm not surprised just by how kind you are.
04:01
Like, you know, like, you've heard me say it, but you are so thoughtful and considerate.
04:08
And just, I always loved watching whenever you'd, like, walk up to different crew members
04:13
and, like, ask them about their kids or their life.
04:16
And I was just like, oh, you're such a good human being.
04:19
It's so good because it's, sadly, it's rare.
04:21
Like, it is rare.
04:22
And so being able to work with you, it's just inspiring.
04:29
Thank you.
04:29
You're incredible.
04:30
Aw, thanks.
04:31
I unwind with baths and puzzles.
04:41
But that's really it.
04:43
Yeah?
04:43
That's it, man.
04:44
Although, oddly, I could not find a hotel room with a bathtub in all of New Jersey or, like, Pennsylvania.
04:52
We couldn't find it.
04:54
So I had to live.
04:55
I was just a shower.
04:56
Oh, no.
04:57
But that was okay.
04:58
It was okay.
04:58
And I had my puzzles.
04:59
So that was fine.
05:01
I usually unwind by, like, calling my friends or my family.
05:06
That's usually what I do.
05:07
I hang out with my dog.
05:12
Oh.
05:13
Donald's such a sweetheart and such a great actor.
05:17
He's incredible.
05:17
Yeah.
05:18
I mean, when you watch him on camera, I mean, I remember when I was doing the scene,
05:22
and my skin was crawling.
05:25
But then he's just, he's so goofy.
05:29
Yeah.
05:29
Yeah, he really is.
05:30
He's a goofball.
05:30
It's so cute.
05:32
He's very funny, really smart, and just incredibly aware as an actor.
05:38
And especially for me, because we had, well, you had it, too.
05:40
You had some physical stuff with him.
05:42
I so admire how careful and precise he is when he's doing that kind of physical work,
05:47
because it really earns your trust as an actor.
05:49
But he was great, and yes, he's very menacing in the film, not so much in life.
05:53
Right.
06:02
For Claire and her struggles with substance, I found, well, Michael actually showed me,
06:10
a series on YouTube, and it was this guy who interviewed a bunch of people on Skid Row
06:16
that struggled with addiction.
06:18
And there were, like, hundreds of videos, and so I would watch them over and over
06:22
and take notes and listen to different stories and watch the mannerisms.
06:27
And I kind of drew from multiple different people on there.
06:30
Yeah.
06:40
It's really fascinating these days that a movie launches that way or that can reach so many
06:51
people globally.
06:52
Because I do think that when you get down to it, these stories about our lives are global
07:01
stories.
07:02
We're all human beings.
07:02
No matter where you are, no matter what your culture is, we all come from families.
07:07
We all have loved ones.
07:10
We all have relationships that we struggle with.
07:13
So there's that part.
07:14
And then we all love to be entertained.
07:16
And so it's kind of wonderful to enter the universe or the globe with something that offers
07:21
both of those qualities.
