00:00Ducati's new 25,995 lb. ex-Diavel V4 is more than just a Diavel V4 with feet-forward footbags.
00:10Only the engine and single-sided swingarm are the same.
00:14That means everything from its cast-aluminium monocoque frame to its stretched chassis,
00:19lower seat, bodywork, spangly wheels, and dash are new.
00:23Even its colors are a move away from the Ducati norm with a new metallic candy apple red.
00:28It's also available in black.
00:31Like the original V-Twin ex-Diavel, the new V4 oozes road presence and attitude with a capital FU.
00:38It's a cruiser built to impress the outside world and admire yourself in shop windows,
00:43but it also goes like stink, handles like a super naked and stops with the ferocity of a race bike.
00:49It's every inch a boulevard cruiser, but it has the same fire in its belly as the standard Diavel V4.
00:55It's long and low with feet-forward pegs, but that never gets in the way of your fun.
01:01It's fast, exciting, easy to ride, manageable at low speed, and packed with rumbling V4 attitude.
01:08It's well-made and beautifully detailed, as well it should be for the price,
01:14although costing more than the latest Street Fighter V4S,
01:17a leans or semi-active suspension seems conspicuous by its absence.
01:22That said, its ability to demolish corners like a sports bike is still its strong point.
01:27It's clearly a niche machine, but well-heeled riders who crave a mix of muscular styling,
01:33a laid-back riding position, and super bike performance won't be disappointed.
01:39And if you're thinking of trading up from your V-Twin X-Diavel,
01:43the V4 is lighter, better handling, comfier, and more technologically advanced, released in 2023.
01:50The standard Diavel V4 has never failed to impress in the handling department.
01:56Its accuracy, agility, grip, and easy poise through corners had to be experienced to be believed.
02:03It was a full-blooded sports bike that just so happens to look like a Harley.
02:07None of that good stuff has changed in its X-Diavel transformation.
02:12Despite a 27mm longer wheelbase, 12mm extra trail, and 3 degrees more rake,
02:20the lazier geometry slows the steering.
02:22As you'd expect, and it's most noticeable at town speeds and negotiating small roundabouts.
02:29It doesn't change direction like a Panagale on the open road, either,
02:32but the X-Diavel V4 is still incredibly lithe for a long, low 229kg, minus fuel, cruiser.
02:42Suspension control and ride from its mechanically adjustable 50mm forks and shock
02:47are superb, and grip from its Pirelli Diablo Rosso 3 rubber is impressive, wet or dry.
02:55But the huge 240-section rear tire can tramline over less-than-perfect tarmac,
03:01causing the Ducati to momentarily wobble.
03:04The stretch-to-the-bars and feet-forward footbags don't necessarily match sporty riding,
03:09but it somehow works.
03:11Crucially, ground clearance is never a problem.
03:15Although the X-Diavel V4 has been designed to be cool and sultry, it's playful, too.
03:21Its ability to cover ground so quickly never fails to make you smile,
03:25and it even wheelies off the throttle in second gear.
03:28Like the standard Diavel V4, it feels more like a cheeky super-naked than a cruiser.
03:35Its dish seat is plush, holds you in place and comfy after day's ride,
03:39and although the Ducati will never win Tour of the Year and lacks wind protection,
03:44it doesn't leave you tired after a long run.
03:47With a low 770-millimeter seat height, down from the Diavel V4's 790 millimeters,
03:55and an incredibly slim 20-liter steel fuel tank where it meets the seat,
04:00it's easy to manage at paddling speeds, too.
04:03The โฌ5 plus, 166 brake horsepower, 1,158 cubic centimeters Gran Turismo Spring Valve V4
04:14is taken from the Multistrada V4.
04:17It has 37,000-mile valve service intervals
04:20and a rear-cylinder cut system at low revs to keep heat down and improve fuel economy.
04:25Having all that power between your legs is as irrelevant as it gets for a low rider like this,
04:32but it more than delivers.
04:34Acceleration is brutal and top speed is only restricted by your neck muscles' ability
04:39to keep your head from falling off.
04:41Most owners aren't going to scorch through the Route Napoleon,
04:44eyes on stocks, like we are today at its world launch in May 25,
04:49but part of this Diavel's appeal is just knowing the performance is there, happily.
04:53The Ducati also takes its cruising duties seriously.
04:58The V4's power delivery and throttle response are smooth,
05:02and the exhaust note is rum-vli, thanks to its V-twin-like twin-pulse firing order.
05:07Deep rivers of low and mid-range grunt let you float along in lazy gears,
05:12although the engine clatters if you're too low in the revs.
05:15Electronic rider aids and modes all combine to make the X-Diavel as angry or docile as you fancy,
05:21in complete safety.
05:24Owners' reviews for the Diavel V4 are all positive,
05:28so the X-Diavel V4 should be just as reliable and robust.
05:32V4 engine has been around since 2021 in the Multistrada V4,
05:36and any problems have been well and truly ironed out.
05:40Valve check services at 37,000 miles goes a long way to reducing running costs.
05:45But the Ducati is still a pricey machine to buy and own and doesn't even come with a leans or semi-active suspension.
05:53Its closest rival in terms of performance, handling, and cruiser attitude is Triumph's three-cylinder,
05:592.5-liter Rocket 3 Storm, coming in at a cheaper, but still salty, pound 23, 895'd, a color dash.
06:09Full armory of electronic rider aids, cruise control, keyless ignition, up-slash-down quickshifter, LED, and Brembo-style MOS comes standard,
06:19but you can choose from a full array of Ducati, Turing, and performance accessories,
06:24including an 11kg, lighter race exhaust that liberates an extra 11bhp, a 6.9 inches widescreen.
06:33Dash, loaded with functions, was debuted on the new Panagale V4.
06:38It has a bonded display, like a smartphone, for crispness and to reduce glare.
06:44You can use USB audio.
06:49It has a really beautifulัะฐะฝ peligro์ด๊ณ anywhere.
07:02You can use USB audio.
07:06You can use USB capture of absolute mail.
07:10You can use USB audio.
