00:00:12Pistol Pete ready to start firing those pistols for the battle we have in store today we have

00:00:19one of those games that test your focus top 25 team against an unranked opponent can take

00:00:26care of business as we'll see a squad from the Mountain West the Colorado State Rams taking

00:00:33on the 18th ranked team in the land the Oklahoma State Cowboys for EA Sports College Football I'm

00:00:39Reese Davis joined here in the booth as always by David Pollock and Jesse Ballmer guys let's tee this

00:00:45one up the Cowboys will get us started with the opening kickoff

00:00:56coming out with it it's Johnson I know he thinks he can house every return but sometimes you just

00:01:04have to take a knee as he stopped at the 14 so the Colorado State Rams return team will have that

00:01:10offense backed up and here he comes and you may think that you can take a wide receiver out of

00:01:16the game plan but Jesse with this guy he sort of believes I'm him I'm the dude yeah and he gives

00:01:23defensive coordinators nightmares too I swear when you watch this guy's highlight tape man he scares

00:01:28you to death with his speed he can take the top off the defense he can change the game David on any

00:01:34given play and so how many different ways can I continue to give him touches you know they're

00:01:39going to split them out wide I'd hand him the football I'd throw it to him quick I'd throw it to

00:01:43him deep this is a playmaker that will be featured touch pass on the run brought down at the 25 after

00:01:52he picked up 10 and how about setting the tone right there like you're going to cover this guy

00:01:57coming across the field get it to him early on the first drive let him know this playmaker is going to

00:02:02be touching the ball early and often and he picks up the big game the Rams want to pick up the tempo

00:02:08looking to go up top on first down he makes the catch close to the sticks but he'll be a little

00:02:20short of the first down must be nice for this quarterback knowing he's got this type of athlete

00:02:25playing the tight end position that could work the middle of the field for him he's a guy who can

00:02:29stretch it vertically as well but this is a guy the QB will look for early and often in this game

00:02:34you can barely hear yourself thinking here as they're trying to get this defense off to a good

00:02:41start

00:02:41leaves it with the back he'll move it up to the 37 yard line and it'll be a first down

00:02:50all right nothing flashy there he just did what it took to get the first down

00:02:54and the Rams are moving quickly down the field

00:03:05looking to pass it's Fowler Nicolosi he's going to throw deep right side

00:03:13and the DB right with him to knock it away really nice play by the defender being in a good position

00:03:21for that deep ball down the field not letting the receiver put his big body on him go up over top

00:03:28the only thing that could have been better is that thing tipped to another defender and it was an

00:03:31interception but great coverage by the defender

00:03:33on second down he's looking downfield and the defense is all over the quarterback and down he goes

00:03:45that's a good example there of complementary defense the DBs and linebackers are playing zone

00:03:51they're playing their spaces and they force the QB to have to hold the ball try to work through his progressions

00:03:56and then the pass rush they went up front

00:03:58ball's at the 29 defense can taste getting off the field it's third and long

00:04:11he's looking downfield to throw

00:04:14working that left side now

00:04:18and he almost ran away from everybody on that one a huge pickup on that play

00:04:24and that's why for the offensive coordinator you've got to find as many ways as possible

00:04:28to get this guy going just get him the ball close to the line of scrimmage

00:04:32doesn't need to be a throw deep down the field

00:04:34he's so dynamic when he has the ball in his hands you saw it right there

00:04:38the Rams will snap it on first and ten

00:04:41power football with the run

00:04:47a solid pickup there before the defense is able to make the stop

00:04:52I like it just frustrate the defense get that five to six yards

00:04:57make him honor the run make him know that you're willing to run the football

00:05:00and run it effectively

00:05:01halfway there on first down it's second and five

00:05:07now they'll run the draw

00:05:15that's what you expect from a senior

00:05:18don't give them any extra yards

00:05:20great tackle there

00:05:21you know runs like this oftentimes are like a boxer in a boxing match

00:05:26obviously it's not a knockout punch

00:05:28but these are body blows

00:05:30as the game goes on

00:05:31these small gains are going to turn into longer wins

00:05:34back to pass it's Fowler DiColosi

00:05:44quickly complete

00:05:46and the defense makes the immediate tackle

00:05:49but he has enough for the first down

00:05:51it's tough on the defense there

00:05:53third down you're in zone coverage

00:05:54everybody's watching the quarterback

00:05:56and you're trying to make a break on the ball

00:05:58but he just got it out of his hands too quickly

00:06:00and the throw was too accurate

00:06:01really nothing you can do there

00:06:03and it's now a fresh set of damage

00:06:04and the Rams headed quickly to the line

00:06:07they'll throw it on first down

00:06:16trying to burn this defensive back

00:06:18that was an eyelash away from being picked off

00:06:22and that is not the way to set the tone

00:06:24with a near pick

00:06:25on your opening drive

00:06:28this is going to be a key that we look at

00:06:30this entire game how can this defense find ways to affect this quarterback

00:06:34and get pressure on him

00:06:36because they felt coming into the game

00:06:37if they could do that

00:06:38they could affect him

00:06:39and influence this passing game

00:06:42trying to make that rush stink

00:06:44on the draw play here

00:06:45a pickup of eight now to convert this third and two

00:06:49draws and screens are a great way

00:06:52to slow down really aggressive pass rushers

00:06:56it allows the defensive ends

00:06:57and the defensive tackles to run upfield

00:06:59the offensive linemen kind of push them upfield

00:07:01go down to the next level

00:07:02trying to sneak in a big play

00:07:04this crowd bringing the energy and noise early

00:07:09and boy is he close to that first down

00:07:12maybe just a couple of inches short

00:07:15third and two

00:07:16trying to be physical

00:07:17trying to win the battle up front

00:07:19almost there Palmer

00:07:20just short fourth and inches

00:07:22and he was so disappointed he didn't pick up that first

00:07:25he's looking over to the sidelines right now

00:07:26asking for the ball again here on fourth

00:07:28and so on their opening drive of the game

00:07:31they want to stay on the field

00:07:33and the offense will go for it on fourth down

00:07:36finds a tight end

00:07:37and they'll bring him down

00:07:39but not before he picks up the first down

00:07:42oh and he finds a slot receiver on that fourth down throw

00:07:45and I'll tell you

00:07:46this guy is not the biggest receiver in college football

00:07:48but he does such a good job

00:07:50working the middle of the field

00:07:51he's just able to get open and read coverage

00:07:54every quarterback loves having a slot receiver like that

00:07:57leaves it with the back

00:08:01and he was fortunate not to lose yardage on that play

00:08:05able to wedge it back to the line of scrimmage

00:08:07and just a great job on the defense being stout

00:08:10right that's your job

00:08:11be stout up front

00:08:12stuff in the run play

00:08:13make them get in more passing situations

00:08:15but do not let them run the football

00:08:17that's 101

00:08:18stop the run first

00:08:19they got nothing on the last play

00:08:21it's second and ten

00:08:22they'll leave it with him

00:08:26got some room

00:08:29headed to the goal line

00:08:30and he runs it in for the score

00:08:33touchdown Colorado State

00:08:35we know football gets harder

00:08:39when you start to get in the red zone

00:08:40and the field shrinks

00:08:41who needs that

00:08:42break the long touchdown run

00:08:44nice job by the back

00:08:45seeing the hole

00:08:46exploding through

00:08:47getting a long touchdown

00:08:48lining up for the P.A. team

00:09:01lining up for the P.A. team

00:09:06and he's got the extra point

00:09:17and it's 7-0 to start this way

00:09:19so they played keep away

00:09:21and held it for 16 plays

00:09:23on the scoring drive

00:09:24and what a way to finish it off

00:09:26with a 21-yard touchdown run

00:09:28kickoff team is on the field

00:09:30they'll try to drive this one deep

00:09:32on the move from inside

00:09:35is five

00:09:35good job by the coverage unit

00:09:38to stop the return man

00:09:39so the Oklahoma State Cowboys

00:09:44offense has its first opportunity

00:09:48both of these teams

00:09:49have a strong safety

00:09:50that can support the run

00:09:52and also disruptive

00:09:53in the passing game

00:09:54I mean it's just so nice

00:09:55to have a guy

00:09:55that's so physical

00:09:57like a linebacker

00:09:58but also can play like a DB

00:09:59these guys are really

00:10:00revolutionizing defenses

00:10:02they hit people too

00:10:03they are heat-seeking missiles

00:10:04nobody wants to run over

00:10:06the middle of the field

00:10:07against these guys

00:10:07and it's a really good job

00:10:09by the defense

00:10:10understanding leverage

00:10:11I can't let that fast sucker

00:10:13get outside of me

00:10:14towards the sidelines

00:10:15nice job expanding with them

00:10:17and then going and making a tackle

00:10:18one of the hardest things

00:10:19to do in football

00:10:20is tackle guys

00:10:21in the open field

00:10:22great job going

00:10:23and getting them on the ground

00:10:24to the air

00:10:26it's Bowman

00:10:27makes his connection

00:10:29he's run out of bounds

00:10:32but not before

00:10:33turning in a big pickup

00:10:34and moving the sticks

00:10:36for a first down

00:10:37nice completion here

00:10:38to this wide receiver

00:10:39and you're going to see

00:10:40this receiver line up

00:10:41in different spots

00:10:44defense has got to keep

00:13:58really nice timing

00:14:02getting it out on time

00:14:03and how about the

00:14:04receiver securing the catch

00:14:05tapping the toes

00:14:17has it

00:14:17really nice stop

00:14:19there from this

00:14:20senior leader

00:14:21and offenses

00:14:22want to continue

00:14:23to feature the run

00:14:24they want balance

00:14:25even if it's not

00:14:26super successful

00:14:27you can take it

00:14:28a little bit at a time

00:14:29just to keep

01:03:45is trying to do

01:03:46really nice stop there

01:03:48from this senior

01:03:49leader

01:03:49as they come to the line

01:04:03the 43 I wonder if they

01:04:05already know they'll go

01:04:06for it if they don't make

01:04:42offense here they're trying to

01:04:44ice this game by running

01:04:45the football and leading

01:04:46the clock they've got a

01:04:47pretty good lead here late

01:04:48in the game but the

01:04:49defense knows the runs

01:04:50coming right so they're

01:04:51going to be loading the

01:04:51line of scrimmage getting

01:04:53stops like what they just

01:04:54did be interesting to see

01:04:56what the offense does on

01:04:57this next one

01:05:00saw a spot in the middle

01:05:46really nice lead here late

01:05:47just want to find ways to

01:05:49keep the chains moving

01:05:51just had to get rid of that

01:06:12field goal range but they love

01:06:14to convert this third and

01:06:15short

01:06:16from the gun wants to pass

01:06:40from the red zone he's gonna

01:06:48throw it he's got it still on

01:06:51his feet so close to that end

01:06:53zone he could almost taste it but

01:06:55it'll be first and goal for this

01:06:56offense they showed great trust in

01:06:59their quarterback right there and

01:07:01why not he's had an outstanding

01:07:03game the outstanding game has

01:07:05taken care of the football now

01:07:06late in the game you got the lead

01:07:08that first down now tells me now

01:07:10it's time to start running the

01:07:11football run the clock get out of

01:07:13here at the dub trying to pound it

01:07:15in touchdown Colorado State and the

01:07:19stomping has commenced wow this

01:07:23offense they have a lot of faith in

01:07:26this running back knowing if they

01:07:27get down in this area of the field

01:07:29he can get it done and he can answer

01:07:31the bell two rushing touchdowns

01:07:33already for this offense

01:07:34the A.T. unit on the field

01:07:54the kick is up and good and put one

01:08:02more on the lead they put together an

01:08:0581 yard drive and finish the deal

01:08:08with the short touchdown run from the

01:08:10two the kickoff team out there and

01:08:13ready to go

01:08:14he'll bring it out it's Presley he was

01:08:22looking for some running crew but not

01:08:24much to be found as he stopped at the

01:08:2618

01:08:27Oklahoma State hoping to get the

01:08:29pistols firing on offense he's

01:08:33looking to throw it got his man

01:08:35quickly and defensively this is

01:08:38exactly what you want right you got

01:08:39the big lead so you can play big zone

01:08:41coverages just keep the ball in front

01:08:43of you keep your eye on the

01:08:45quarterback rally to the football

01:08:46gang tackle you're gonna win this

01:08:48game

01:08:49looks as if they'll stay aggressive

01:08:52here they go five wide on second and

01:08:54three

01:08:55looking for a man it's Bowman

01:08:58makes the grab on the left and he was

01:09:04loose and in the open field and on his

01:09:07way a tremendous pickup on that one

01:09:10when we see another catch by this guy

01:09:12this defense is gonna need to do a

01:09:14better job of tackling the catch in

01:09:16coverage I know they want to slap the

01:09:17ball away but if you can't do it and

01:09:19force the incompletion you've got to at

01:09:21least make sure you're able to drag him

01:09:23down to the ground as soon as he

01:09:25catches the ball

01:09:26now a first down from the 45 yard line

01:09:34he wants to throw looking to the big

01:09:41tight end

01:09:42well there's an example of how this

01:09:50tight end could be a big weapon in the

01:09:52passing game that time on the corner

01:09:54is a nice job separating from the

01:09:56defender and hauling in the catch this

01:09:58offense absolutely humming as they come

01:10:01to the line again

01:10:02they're gonna throw it again

01:10:06got a man it's Gordon

01:10:10well he made the grab but the doors

01:10:13closed quickly after that

01:10:15and I like this I want to find my

01:10:17running back but man he's got to do a

01:10:18little more damage after the catch I

01:10:20need I need a stiff arm I need a spin

01:10:22move I need something where he can make

01:10:24that guy miss and pick up a bunch of

01:10:27yards and maybe get a big play out of

01:10:28he wants to pass it on second down

01:10:34and that's gonna be incomplete a lot of

01:10:38contact on the play but no flags it'll

01:10:41be third down

01:10:42love the physicality of the secondary on

01:10:44defense that defender got to the

01:10:46football was able to separate the

01:10:48receiver from the ball and did it

01:10:50legally beautiful job third and short

01:10:53from the 28 let's see if this is four

01:10:55down territory or if they just pick up

01:10:57the first here getting to meet and the

01:11:01defense gets home and makes a play at

01:11:03the 37 yard line and how about the

01:11:06complimentary football this defense

01:11:08getting another sack they've already got

01:11:09an interception offense is played great

01:11:12both sides of the football together

01:11:14dominating this football

01:11:15down by multiple possessions they can't

01:11:30come up empty on this drive in the

01:11:31fourth quarter they'll go for it on

01:11:33fourth down he'll try to throw and pick

01:11:36up the first down the completion well

01:11:39pass the sticks and he just kept running

01:11:43and he ran away from the crowd and he'll

01:11:45take it in

01:11:46touchdown oklahoma state

01:11:48if this dude were a kitchen knife he

01:11:51would be slicing the tomatoes so thin

01:11:54your in-laws would never come back to

01:11:55your house

01:11:56oh i'd be a good king i don't know if i want

01:11:58my in-laws to come back anyways but he's

01:12:00been on fire he's been absolutely

01:12:02torching his defense they've had

01:12:04absolutely no answers for he'll try to

01:12:20tack on one more

01:12:21right down the middle

01:12:28the deficit is huge this one is all but

01:12:40over to they'll keep trying and line up

01:12:42for the onside kick

01:12:43few anxious moments there but the hands

01:12:46team true to its name as they make the

01:12:49grab and get the ball first down here

01:12:52with time for maybe one more play until

01:12:54the two-minute warning

01:12:55they keep it on the ground clock is

01:13:00their friend

01:13:01that's what you expect from a senior

01:13:03don't give them any extra yards great

01:13:06tackle there

01:13:07we've reached the two-minute warning in

01:13:09this offense will be quite content just

01:13:12to drain the rest of the time away

01:13:14line getting set on second down

01:13:16from the gun the running back has it

01:13:23and a nice solid pickup there before

01:13:26the defense wrestles into the ground

01:13:28that didn't bust for a long run but now

01:13:30third down becomes very manageable

01:13:33it's not third in eternity now the

01:13:35whole playbook short passing game long

01:13:37passing game all of it's okay

01:13:39third and short coming from the 34 you

01:13:42wonder if this is four down territory

01:13:44motion by the back forces the defense to

01:13:53adjust

01:13:53he's got an open man

01:13:57touchdown colorado state and the beatdown

01:14:01has ensued

01:14:02and this offense continuing to put up

01:14:07points this game's out of reach you know

01:14:09you're gonna win but still throwing the

01:14:11football still finding that connection i

01:14:13imagine there'll be some salty

01:14:15handshakes at the end of this game

01:14:16getting set for the point after

01:14:35and the extra point will tack another one

01:14:43onto this lead quick strike offense on

01:14:46that three-play scoring drive and the

01:14:48final 34 yards covered by that touchdown

01:14:51pass

01:14:52kickoff team lining up to send this one

01:14:57away

01:14:58on the run from inside his own five really

01:15:06disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19

01:15:10oklahoma state has it back and the offense is on the field this one has pretty much been a

01:15:16bludgeoning but they'll try to finish with something positive late well they ran into a buzzsaw today and i don't think it would matter what type of exit

01:15:23is that was they're out there executing david jimmy's and the joes they just they're just not as good as the opponent today and as an athlete it sometimes hits you in the face and it stinks but you're not good enough and today they were not good enough and i'm gonna do the best i can to try to flush this down the toilet not remember it forget it move on for the next game maybe something right here i can create positive

01:15:43positive and he can't escape and down he goes and man is that a just indictment of the day your quarterback getting drilled late in the football game this offense has sputtered they haven't found any kind of good rhythm they haven't done things that that really gives your coach confidence and it makes you want to believe in them this offense has a lot of work to do before their next football game

01:16:05they'll try to keep that sack from wrecking this drive here on second and 15 back to pass it's bowman

01:16:17trying to get to it

01:16:21didn't have much of a choice there but to get rid of it and this defense has put a game together like it is hard to put

01:16:30all the facets of defense together run defense past evens they've been so good man dialed in you could tell

01:16:36they were ready they were fast they were physical they dominated this football game today

01:16:41i'm not positive but that first down marker might be in the next county

01:16:45and it's incomplete on third down and this is just one of those days man where everything has gone wrong

01:16:55right like they just haven't been in a rhythm they haven't they haven't got it going and

01:16:59never built the momentum this is this is one of those days you learn from you try to grow from

01:17:03a lot of things that we're going to show in the film room that people aren't going to like

01:17:07but hopefully you can learn from it and do better next time on fourth down looking to pass

01:17:13he's going up top here late in the game

01:17:17can't hook up on the long throw and fourth down goes by the boards for this offense

01:17:24first down for the offense

01:17:26the give to the back

01:17:30and i think they'll give him two on that one second and eight coming up

01:17:35and the defense is still fighting they haven't had the day that they dreamed of but you know talking

01:17:40to the coaches coming to the game like they thought they had a good plan they'd be ready to attack and

01:17:44and limit some of the damage this offense has done they haven't done it today though they got to go

01:17:48back to the drawing board figure some things out because this wasn't a great

01:17:51what if you think you kind of do it

01:17:53and she's going to let them know and the girl out

01:17:55and she's going to take him to the game and get him to the game and get him to the game and get him to the game

01:17:57they'll be right after that

01:17:58it's the only game and do it
