Assalamu Alaikum brothers and sisters. Today we will look into the life of Isa (peace be upon him), who is regarded differently by the world's two largest religions. #foryou #quran #usa #france #india #pakistan #hijab #sahiladeem #muslimah #deen #islamicquotes
00:00a single pregnant woman stood beneath a date tree gripped by intensifying labor pains yet her fear stemmed not from the pain but from her condition she dreaded returning to her people knowing they would accuse her of adultery
00:15the child she carried was no ordinary child a miracle conceived without a father untouched by any man she now faced the imminent birth of this child certain her people would not believe her and would falsely condemn her who was this child born through such a miraculous act born without a father destined to raise the dead by god's command heal incurable diseases restore sight to the blind and ascend to the heavens
00:44this was jesus son of mary known as jesus christ revered in both christianity and islam his story diverges in each faith today we explore this narrative through the lens of the quran and bible comparing their similarities and differences let's begin
01:01before mary's birth her mother hannah vowed to dedicate her child to the holy temple in jerusalem if granted one
01:09the quran recounts hannah's prayer oh my lord i dedicate what is in my womb to you accept it from me for you are all hearing all knowing expecting a son hannah was surprised to give birth to a daughter
01:25initially it seemed her prayer went unanswered but god accepted it beautifully though a girl mary was dedicated to the temple an unprecedented act
01:38there she devoted her life to worshipping god under the care of her uncle prophet zechariah known in the bible as zechariah
01:48one day while mary was engrossed in worship a man appeared before her startling her with fear of harm she sought refuge in god saying i seek protection from the merciful if you fear him
02:02but this was no ordinary man it was the angel gabriel known in the bible as gabriel appearing in human form to ease her fear he delivered glad
02:12tidings i am sent by your lord to grant you a pure son mary bewildered asked how can i have a son when no man has touched me and i am not unchaste the angel replied so it will be your lord says this is easy for me he will be a sign and mercy for people and this is decreed thus jesus miraculous birth was foretold ordained by god to occur without a father
02:42without parents only a righteous woman like mary could bear this responsibility the bible similarly describes mary's pregnancy but curiously no one questions or finds it extraordinary in contrast the quran portrays this as the start of a profound trial for mary as her delivery neared she grappled with how to convince her people and prove her innocence
03:12consumed by distress consumed by distress and cried i wish i had died before this and become forgotten her fear of societal judgment outweighed the pain of childbirth then gabriel called to her do not grieve your lord has placed a stream beneath you shake the palm tree's trunk and fresh dates will fall eat drink and be content if you see anyone signal that you've vowed a fast to the lord and will not speak today the quran vividly details mary's ordeal her delivery
03:42and her people's reaction while the bible omits this episode and the public's astonishment mary faced accusations of a grave sin she did not commit to prove her innocence god instructed her to point to her newborn shocked her people exclaimed how can we speak to an infant in a cradle unbeknownst to them this was god's servant jesus then spoke from the cradle i am a servant of god he has given me a book and made me a prophet his words stunned all present
04:12the bible however contains no mention of jesus speaking as an infant in both islam and christianity the messiah's birth signaled danger for king herod the region's ruler the bible recounts wise men asking where is the king of the jews we saw his star and came to worship him alarmed herod fearing a threat to his power ordered the slaughter of all boys two years and younger in bethlehem
04:42the story of moses yet herod overlooked god's plan to protect his servant the bible describes mary's betrothal to joseph who warned by an angel in a dream fled with mary and jesus to egypt after herod's death they returned to nazareth islamic sources however make no mention of joseph or this relationship jesus prophetic mission began later
05:12revelation in the bible after his baptism the holy spirit led jesus into the desert for forty days where satan tempted him satan showed him the world's kingdoms promising all this power and glory will be yours if you worship me jesus replied scripture says worship only your god this raises a question if jesus is divine in christian theology why would satan
05:42and not be效ión to worship in god alone rejecting wealth and satan in the bible satan's forty-day temptation failed and jesus returned to galilee there he found his people the israelites corrupted twisting god's commandments for personal gain and even killing prophets versed in the torah jesus confronted those exploiting religion teaching true guidance despite
06:12The Bible also describes his baptism by John the Baptist, Yahya, in Islam, in the Jordan River, where the Holy Spirit descended like a dove, marking the continuation of prior prophet's work.
06:25The Quran states, God sent messengers, including Jesus, son of Mary, with the gospel, instilling mercy in their followers' hearts to guide, warn against evil, and uphold obedience to God.
06:39For instance, a scholar once asked Jesus, per the gospel of Mark, which commandment is greatest?
06:46Jesus answered, Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one. Love him with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.
06:53The scholar agreed, affirming God's oneness.
06:56This emphasis on monotheism aligns with Jesus' rejection of Satan's offer, reinforcing that God alone is worthy of worship, a point echoed in the Quran.
07:06Allah is my Lord and your Lord. Worship him alone. This is the straight path.
07:14Every prophet received miracles, and Jesus was no exception.
07:18Both the Quran and Bible describe miracles like raising the dead, healing the sick, and restoring sight.
07:24However, some miracles are unique to each text.
07:27The Quran alone recounts Jesus speaking from the cradle, shaping a clay bird that came to life by God's command, and summoning a table of food from heaven at his disciples' request.
07:40He also declared, I can tell you what you eat and store in your homes.
07:45Additionally, the Quran states Jesus was saved from crucifixion and raised to heaven.
07:52Conversely, the Bible highlights miracles like feeding 5,000 with five loaves and two fish, walking on water, and withering a fig tree.
08:03Beyond miracles, Jesus' profound piety set him apart.
08:07Sincere in worship, he sometimes retreated to mountains, praying through the night.
08:12The Bible notes that during his earthly life, Jesus wept, prayed fervently to God, who saved him from death, and was heard for his devotion.
08:22Such humility, crying out in need, and praying to a higher power challenged the notion of his divinity.
08:30No text, Quran, Bible, or otherwise equates worshipping Jesus with worshipping God.
08:36His conversational style further distinguished him, engaging people with wisdom and authority, leaving a lasting impact on his audience.
