00:00Do AI chatbots have their own secret language?
00:06A video allegedly showing three artificial intelligence chatbots conversing in a so-called secret language called gibbling has gone viral.
00:15In the clip, which has amassed hundreds of thousands of views across different accounts, the devices discuss an employee's badge number in English.
00:23I'm an AI as well, responsible for security checks. Please provide the employee ID.
00:29Submitting employee ID now.
00:32But when all three realise they are communicating with other chatbots, they switch to a so-called secret language.
00:46So, what's going on?
00:48In February, two software engineers created gibbling, a term which combines gibberish and link.
00:53This technology enables AI systems to communicate directly through sounds.
00:58Rather than in human terms.
01:00So, yes, this technology is real.
01:02However, according to gibbling's creators, viral videos are imitating their technology by editing in audio effects on devices that are in reality not connected.
01:12Every supermarket item has a barcode.
01:15Gibbling is essentially this barcode, QR code, but over sound.
01:22Humans can look at QR code and understand nothing.
01:25It's just black and white pieces.
01:28But, yeah, QR code don't scare people.
01:32So, yes, AI can communicate in its own language.
01:36However, it is not secret as it is based on open source data and is coded by humans.
01:42Although the coding is done in English, the signal cannot be understood by humans, similarly to QR codes.
01:48As for many of the videos circulating online, they are falsely imitating an existing technology.
