Fist of Legend (1994), directed by Gordon Chan and starring Jet Li, is a powerful martial arts drama and a remake of Bruce Lee’s Fist of Fury. Set in 1937 during the Japanese occupation of Shanghai, the film follows Chen Zhen (Jet Li), a Chinese student studying in Japan who returns home after learning of his master’s mysterious death.

Upon arriving at the Jingwu School, Chen discovers that his master may have been poisoned by Japanese rivals from the competing Black Dragon Clan. Refusing to accept the official story, he launches his own investigation and quickly finds himself in conflict with Japanese military authorities and martial arts masters.

With intense fight choreography by Yuen Woo-ping, the film features some of Jet Li’s finest and most realistic fight scenes. Chen’s strength, skill, and sense of justice turn him into a symbol of resistance and national pride, as he battles both personal grief and foreign oppression.

Fist of Legend is widely regarded as one of the best martial arts films of the 1990s and showcases Jet Li’s physical talent and screen presence.
