00:01
Brain Boosters is a program put on by Lafayette Parks & Rec
00:04
that gives a member in the community to give a seminar about something going on around us.
00:08
Today we stepped into a lesson with the Tippecanoe County Public Library
00:11
called Not Your Grandmother's Library.
00:13
While this program is usually for adults, 5th graders and McAllister's joined in for the fun.
00:17
I was invited by the Parks Department to come down here
00:21
and speak about what services the library has to offer the community.
00:24
Adult Services Librarian Clayton Higbee said it was fun teaching the kids about the library today.
00:29
It was fun. They had some very interesting questions.
00:32
The Brain Boosters program has covered fire safety, tax knowledge, community engagement
00:36
and now how the community can use the library.
00:38
Higbee was honored to host this month's Brain Boosters.
00:41
We really feel it's important that people throughout the community of all income levels
00:45
are able to access various resources including whether that's education, entertainment,
00:52
whatever else they need in their life.
00:54
I asked some kids about what they thought of the presentation and what they learned.
00:58
Farron Micaiah said that they learned a lot during the Brain Boosters presentation.
01:02
I think now I want to join the reading club because it sounds kind of fun.
01:07
It's kind of like what she said too but I also kind of want to make a book club after what I heard.
01:16
Higbee said the Tippecanoe County Library's goal is to enrich lifelong learning
01:20
and hopefully Brain Boosters can boost the community's connection to the library.
