00:00:00The End
00:00:30Oh, my God.
00:01:00Oh, my God.
00:01:30And the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also, and the works that are therein
00:01:52shall be burned up.
00:01:57This is TD Day, total destruction by nuclear weapons.
00:02:03And from this hour forward, the world as we know it no longer exists.
00:02:09And over all the lands and waters of the earth hangs the atomic haze of death.
00:02:16Man has done his best to destroy himself.
00:02:28But there is a force more powerful than man, and in his infinite wisdom, he has spared a few.
00:02:44Down there.
00:02:49Let's go.
00:02:53Down there.
00:02:54Let's go.
00:02:55Kill me.
00:02:56Kill me.
00:02:57Kill me.
00:02:58Kill me.
00:02:59Kill me.
00:03:00Kill me.
00:03:01Kill me.
00:03:02Kill me.
00:03:03Kill me.
00:03:04Kill me.
00:03:05Kill me.
00:03:06Kill me.
00:03:07Kill me.
00:03:08Kill me.
00:03:13Kill me.
00:03:14Over there.
00:03:15Come on.
00:03:17Come on.
00:03:37Come on.
00:03:41Let's go.
00:04:11It's no use, Louise.
00:04:13I'm afraid you'll never see him again.
00:04:20No sign of life.
00:04:22New York, London, Rome, Moscow.
00:04:27Honey, check the Geiger counter.
00:04:4147 Wrenchen.
00:04:48It's down another one.
00:04:51We might live.
00:04:53We just might live.
00:04:58I told him this day would come.
00:05:00I begged him to get ready for it.
00:05:05Dad, someone's coming.
00:05:11I can't let him in.
00:05:17You've got to.
00:05:20I only planned this for three.
00:05:22You, me, and Tommy, I've only got provisions for three.
00:05:25No more.
00:05:38Go to your room, Louise.
00:05:41I won't let you do it.
00:05:46Well, there's always one way to get into a place.
00:05:52It's our lives are theirs, girl.
00:05:54I'm letting them in.
00:06:02That wasn't much of a welcome, mister.
00:06:04No, you're not welcome.
00:06:06Put that gun down.
00:06:08Come on, Tony.
00:06:09Put it away.
00:06:11Better give it to me.
00:06:15Where I go, this goes.
00:06:18I'll look after you later.
00:06:19Louise, take the girl in.
00:06:21Give her a fresh change of clothes.
00:06:23Have her washed with some of the water in the sealed jars.
00:06:26Now, you.
00:06:33Go in there through to my room, change your clothes, and wash yourself if you want to stay alive.
00:06:39You sound like you're used to giving orders.
00:06:42That makes two of us.
00:06:44Whoabouts is a duo
00:06:46in the cafe after laundry.
00:06:47Will!
00:06:48Will!
00:06:49Will!
00:06:50Will!
00:06:51Kill it.
00:06:53Josie, who is us!
00:06:54Due?
00:06:55Ruby...
00:06:56Little?
00:06:57A Kit...
00:06:59Good.
00:07:00Leightiten!
00:07:02Tyrese長...
00:07:04Mr.
00:07:10I won't have to feed this poor devil. He's done for.
00:07:14I couldn't just let him lie there.
00:07:17704 pounds.
00:07:21I won't have to feed this poor devil. He's done for.
00:07:25I couldn't just let him lie there.
00:07:28I won't have to feed this poor devil. He's done for.
00:07:32I couldn't just let him lie there.
00:07:36740 runs. Don't touch him, Louie.
00:07:40You'd better go to my room and change your clothes.
00:07:44It's not too late already.
00:07:48My brother is dead out there.
00:07:52He was only 30 feet from me. He died and I didn't.
00:07:58I can't understand it.
00:08:00You'd better go and wash now.
00:08:0322 years old. Doesn't make sense.
00:08:07Didn't you hear me? Go change your clothes.
00:08:10Go on, please. Do what Dad says.
00:08:13You know the irony of it?
00:08:15He was studying for the ministry.
00:08:19He was going to be a man of God.
00:08:22Come on, son.
00:08:28Come on in the house, quickly.
00:08:41I wonder, ma'am, if you could make a place for me and Diablo here.
00:08:45Because a woodshed will do.
00:08:47Well, I'm afraid not.
00:08:49Tie him outside someplace and come on in the house.
00:08:52You hear there, Diablo?
00:08:55It's none of my doings.
00:08:57Come on, then.
00:08:59Give him. Give him.
00:09:01Another one, huh?
00:09:03That makes seven of us.
00:09:05Now none of us will make it.
00:09:06You should have let me stop him.
00:09:08I couldn't have lived with that on my conscience,
00:09:10and neither could you.
00:09:12You get pretty good taste in sports shirts, mister.
00:09:15Hey, honey, this is quite a snazzy-looking cotton dress.
00:09:19Stand clear of him, miss.
00:09:21He's lit up like an atomic pile.
00:09:23You can pass it on?
00:09:24I'm not sure, but there's no use taking chances.
00:09:27Then why take chances?
00:09:29What do we need him for?
00:09:31I'll just put him out of his misery.
00:09:32No, you don't.
00:09:33Give me that gun.
00:09:39Once and for all, mister, no one takes my gun.
00:09:43Tony, look out!
00:09:51I ain't kinda like you, mister.
00:09:53I can stand it.
00:09:55Get up!
00:10:07If I used my best judgment, I'd kill you right now.
00:10:10He'll be all right, Captain.
00:10:12He steps out of line once in a while, but push him back hard.
00:10:15And he's all right.
00:10:16Ruby, shut up.
00:10:22You know, ma'am, I was thinking that he could sleep out in the kitchen with me.
00:10:27Who?
00:10:28Diablo.
00:10:29He's always used to having me around with him.
00:10:32Why, he was watching me when I uncovered that goal there.
00:10:36Oh, I guess, I guess it's about that wide and maybe, maybe a mile long.
00:10:42Well, no, I'm afraid not.
00:10:44No?
00:10:47Come over here, all of you.
00:10:48I want to talk to you.
00:10:49This is the Geiger counter.
00:10:52It's recording 46 rentals of radioactivity in this house now.
00:10:5650 is considered dangerous, 500 fatal.
00:10:58It all depends on the individual.
00:11:00Different people have different absorption capacities.
00:11:01When I want an opinion, I'll ask for it.
00:11:04Now, we may live, we may not.
00:11:06There's a lot we don't know yet.
00:11:07Some of us may be dying now.
00:11:09How long before we can leave this rural paradise?
00:11:22I wish you'd never found your way to it, lady.
00:11:24I got things working for me in Frisco.
00:11:26Big things.
00:11:27How long before we can get out of here?
00:11:29Tell him, Louise.
00:11:31There is no San Francisco.
00:11:33There are no radio signals or radio signals.
00:11:36We also wish to live a full dynamic.
00:11:38No radio signals, long or shortwave, from any city in the world.
00:11:42Oh, you're kidding. No, Frisco, I don't believe it.
00:11:45All right, that's enough.
00:11:47Listen to me now.
00:11:49The seven of us in this room may be the beginning of a new era,
00:11:53a new civilization.
00:11:55I knew this day would come.
00:11:57I spent 10 years getting ready for it.
00:12:03Now, if you'll follow me here,
00:12:05I'll show you why we're still alive.
00:12:08This is my house,
00:12:11with its own generating equipment, its own food supplies.
00:12:15These hills surrounding are full of lead-bearing ore.
00:12:20They act as a barrier against radioactivity.
00:12:23Through these gorges, these canyons,
00:12:26flows a strong steady wind with enough velocity
00:12:29to keep the radioactive contamination out of here.
00:12:32By some chance, each of you is in this sheltered area.
00:12:38Except the man on the couch.
00:12:41He got to it too late.
00:12:43You can see the result.
00:12:44I don't think he'll live through the night.
00:12:46As long as the wind blows and the rains don't come too soon, we may live.
00:12:51That is, if we're not destroyed by other forces.
00:12:55What other forces?
00:12:56Never mind that now.
00:12:58Make no mistake about it.
00:13:00You're not welcome here.
00:13:02This was planned for three people.
00:13:04That's how much food we've got.
00:13:06Divide that among seven of us,
00:13:08we'll find ourselves walking around with aching bellies.
00:13:12I have the key to the storeroom.
00:13:15I and only I will decide when and how much we eat.
00:13:19Any argument about that, I settle it with this.
00:13:24Oh, you're a top man, all right, packing that gun.
00:13:27Just don't let go of it.
00:13:28I don't intend to.
00:13:31You men will sleep in my room.
00:13:33I'll bunk out here.
00:13:42Come on.
00:13:43Come on.
00:13:44Come on.
00:13:50You think he's got it too?
00:13:52Maybe, maybe not.
00:13:53We'll know by tomorrow.
00:13:55Cute guy like that.
00:13:58That'd be a pity.
00:14:03I'm not gonna die.
00:14:05I thought I was, but I'm not.
00:14:08You'll be all right.
00:14:10Yeah, my friend.
00:14:12I won't forget it.
00:14:14I'm hungry.
00:14:16I need food, meat, red meat.
00:14:18Nearly raw.
00:14:22I don't know why, but it'll do me good.
00:14:26I'll leave your order with the chef.
00:14:28Meantime, you better wash up and get in some clean clothes.
00:14:40If this Geiger counter's accurate, I wouldn't spend too much time out here.
00:15:01You're no strange at all this, are you?
00:15:03I'm a geologist.
00:15:05My field is uranium exploration.
00:15:08Then you'd know that the real force of the atom has never been truly calculated.
00:15:12I think it reached its fulfillment today.
00:15:15But only as it affects our form of life.
00:15:18You think any other form of life could have survived that?
00:15:22I'm only saying that its true force has never been fully understood.
00:15:26You remember the H-bomb test at Matsuo some years ago?
00:15:37I captained one of the ships.
00:15:40Five days after the blast, I towed the animal ship out of target zero.
00:15:44The world never had a true account of that test.
00:15:47What are you trying to tell me?
00:15:49Coyote.
00:15:52Lots of game in here now.
00:15:55Contaminated game.
00:15:57Fighting for life just like we are.
00:15:59They started coming in a week ago.
00:16:01Just like this valley was Noah's Ark.
00:16:18What's the matter, Radek?
00:16:36There's game out there.
00:16:38I can tell.
00:16:40I can feel it.
00:16:43A man needs meat.
00:16:44But it's, it's contaminated.
00:16:48You'd die if you ate that.
00:16:52You would.
00:16:54Not me.
00:16:56I can't live on this.
00:16:58That's all you're going to get for a long time.
00:17:04That's what you think.
00:17:14It's doing nicely, your plant of the future.
00:17:28Celebrates a birthday tomorrow.
00:17:30Three weeks.
00:17:32Three weeks.
00:17:34I thought we'd all be dead by now.
00:17:37But we're not.
00:17:39Even Radek got out of bed today.
00:17:41Gives me the creeps.
00:17:43Logically, he should have been dead by now.
00:17:46There's no such thing as logic anymore.
00:17:49He hasn't touched food or water for three weeks.
00:17:52What does he live on?
00:17:53He says he doesn't need food.
00:17:55Last night he slipped out of the house.
00:17:57Didn't get back until dawn.
00:17:59I'm afraid he's going out of his mind.
00:18:01He seems to live in a world all of his own.
00:18:03He's a mutation, Rick.
00:18:05Freak of this new atomic world of ours.
00:18:07I'm going out for a walk.
00:18:11Don't go too far.
00:18:12Stay inside of the house.
00:18:14Why?
00:18:16Because I tell you to.
00:18:18I'm not afraid.
00:18:20I like it out there.
00:18:24Would you go with me?
00:18:26No.
00:18:27It's dangerous, Rick.
00:18:28He should be destroyed.
00:18:30No, Jim.
00:18:31It's important to us that he live.
00:18:33But why?
00:18:35I'm not sure yet.
00:18:36When I am, I'll tell you.
00:18:38At this spot, I'll do a few simple dance steps.
00:18:40And the other one.
00:18:42I'll tell you.
00:18:44It's dangerous, Rick.
00:18:46You should be destroyed.
00:18:48No, Jim.
00:18:49It's important to us that he live.
00:18:50But why?
00:18:52I'm not sure yet.
00:18:53When I am, I'll tell you.
00:19:02At this spot, I'll do a few simple dance steps.
00:19:07Boy, the contrast will kill him.
00:19:13Did you hear what I said?
00:19:15No.
00:19:16Turn off that crummy record.
00:19:21You only got eyes and ears for Louise, huh?
00:19:24Shut up.
00:19:26You don't like it when she goes out walking with Rick, do you?
00:19:29I said shut up.
00:19:37You know, I think I'm beginning to want to live again.
00:19:51It's taken seven weeks.
00:19:54And you.
00:19:57Oh, Louise.
00:20:01What's the matter?
00:20:03Didn't you hear that?
00:20:04Hear what?
00:20:07Let's go into the house.
00:20:08Quick.
00:20:34Let's go.
00:21:04Jim, these bones are still moist.
00:21:09Look.
00:21:11Footprints. Radix.
00:21:15You think he ate that rabbit?
00:21:25Forty-nine ranching.
00:21:28Think a man could eat that poisoned meat and live?
00:21:30Well, he spent most of his nights right out here in the woods.
00:21:35No human could eat it and live.
00:21:37He defies all the laws of man and God.
00:21:41There may be an entirely new set of laws, Jim, that we know nothing about.
00:21:46Come out and say what you mean.
00:21:48I'm only guessing.
00:21:50We know that even small amounts of radiation produce change.
00:21:54But if, for some reason, a man could live through complete saturation,
00:21:58a thousand generations of changes could have taken place.
00:22:03It's only a theory.
00:22:05Matsuo test.
00:22:07What about them?
00:22:09Nothing. Go on with your theory.
00:22:11There may be more Radix.
00:22:13Worse than him.
00:22:15All of us have survived more cumulative exposure than we ever dreamed possible.
00:22:19If we were trying to say we might all become like Radix?
00:22:24Stalking the woods at night?
00:22:26Eating raw meat?
00:22:28It's possible.
00:22:36What can we do, Rick?
00:22:38My brother believed the Bible gave strength and revealed a plan for everything.
00:22:42Then I hope I find it before I lose my mind.
00:23:03Hold on.
00:23:05Listen to this.
00:23:06For I am with thee to save thee and deliver thee, saith the Lord.
00:23:11I will deliver thee out of the hand of the wicked.
00:23:14I will redeem thee out of the hand of the terrible.
00:23:17I had enough of the Bible when I was a kid.
00:23:20It's easy to see it had no effect on you, Tony.
00:23:36I think you ought to tell them about the rain.
00:23:39Yes, Rick. You're right.
00:23:41We're heading for rain.
00:23:43It'll be coming down through clouds saturated with nuclear death.
00:23:49I'm afraid there'll be no escaping it.
00:23:59But in case the weather clears and we do escape,
00:24:02starting tomorrow we have to go on our operations.
00:24:06Ha!
00:24:07What's half of nothing?
00:24:09If we're still here when the weather clears,
00:24:11we'll start planting.
00:24:13I've stored seed and grain.
00:24:16Also, I've got books and materials on every craft needed by man to sustain life.
00:24:22We can all start reading them.
00:24:24Tony Lamont.
00:24:26Farmer.
00:24:27We're just about out of water, too.
00:24:32There's a waterfall not far from the house coming out of the mountain.
00:24:38I tested it today and it's safe.
00:24:41Starting tomorrow we bathe there.
00:24:44I've used more water in the last two months than I have in 64 years.
00:24:49Maybe that's why you're still alive, Pete.
00:24:52Hm.
00:24:57Oh, this place looks spooky even in the sunlight.
00:25:00Boy, what I'd give to be standing back on Broadway listening to that traffic.
00:25:04I didn't realize how isolated it was here.
00:25:07I didn't realize how isolated it was here.
00:25:11Oh, this place looks spooky even in the sunlight.
00:25:14Boy, what I'd give to be standing back on Broadway listening to that traffic.
00:25:17I didn't realize how isolated it was here.
00:25:19I didn't realize how isolated it was here.
00:25:37You're a good-looking country-style queen.
00:25:38Probably that's why Tony goes for you.
00:25:39You're something new to him.
00:25:40Tony!
00:25:41Hey, don't take his eyes off you.
00:25:42He can't see me anymore.
00:25:43But just don't you encourage him.
00:25:44Otherwise, I'll make a play to that guy of yours.
00:25:45And that would be unfair competition for you, baby.
00:25:46I'll remember that.
00:25:47Hey, don't take his eyes off you.
00:25:48You can't see me anymore.
00:25:49But just don't you encourage him.
00:25:50Otherwise, I'll make a play to that guy of yours.
00:25:51And that would be unfair competition for you, baby.
00:25:52I'll remember that.
00:25:53You can't see me anymore.
00:25:54But just don't you encourage him.
00:25:55Otherwise, I'll make a play to that guy of yours.
00:25:57And that would be unfair competition for you, baby.
00:25:59I'll remember that.
00:26:23Tony will come back to Mama.
00:26:24He always does.
00:26:25What's the matter, kid?
00:26:26We're being watched.
00:26:27Where?
00:26:28I can't see anything.
00:26:29There's something moving in the bushes.
00:26:30Oh, it's probably one of the men.
00:26:31The boys will be boys.
00:26:32Come on, let's get out of here.
00:26:33We'll go along the stream.
00:26:55It's quicker that way.
00:27:03Oh, I need some breath.
00:27:05Will you hold it a minute?
00:27:07I felt eyes staring at me.
00:27:09I heard it, too.
00:27:11Hey, cut that out.
00:27:19Come on.
00:27:21Radek's not the only one eating this game, Jim.
00:27:35When they finish off the game, we'll be next.
00:27:38This place is cursed.
00:27:41Rick, we've got to kill Radek.
00:27:44He's our only chance to find out what we're up against.
00:27:46We can't kill him.
00:27:48The animals at Matsuo, they predicted something like this.
00:27:53Don't you think it's time you told me about Matsuo?
00:27:57Yes, it is. Tonight.
00:27:59After the others have gone to sleep.
00:28:01You'll think I'm crazy, just like the rest of them did.
00:28:09I sneaked some more sugar out for you, Pete.
00:28:12Well, thank you, Ruby.
00:28:15You know, he's been trembling ever since he got here.
00:28:20He's scared.
00:28:22Things are going on around here that he don't like.
00:28:25And you know, one of these days we're going to hire Taylor down here.
00:28:29Where will you go?
00:28:31We've got a gold strike on the other side of the hill.
00:28:34Not much use for that stuff now, Pete.
00:28:36No use for it.
00:28:38You ain't got it right, Ruby.
00:28:40All my life, I've been hunting for gold.
00:28:44And now that I've found it, it's up there and I'm down here.
00:28:50You're crazy.
00:28:52But don't feel bad. I think we all are.
00:28:55Thanks for the sugar, Ruby.
00:28:57You know, Diablo is just crazy about sugar.
00:29:01Cut that out, you old conniver.
00:29:03I know what you've been doing with that sugar.
00:29:05When the next batch of moonshine's ready, I want some.
00:29:20Another thing out there.
00:29:22How are you feeling, honey?
00:29:23Fine.
00:29:24Where's Rick?
00:29:26He's out snooping. He'll be back soon.
00:29:28I'll go outside and wait for him.
00:29:30Don't go too far from the house, honey.
00:29:33I just want to talk to you.
00:29:34I haven't said a dozen words to you since we got here.
00:29:37Look, what's so bad about me? Tell me.
00:29:40I'm not bad looking. I don't smoke, I don't drink.
00:29:43I don't drink.
00:29:44I don't know.
00:29:45I don't know.
00:29:46I don't know.
00:29:47I don't know.
00:29:48I don't know.
00:29:49I don't know.
00:29:50I don't know.
00:29:51I don't know.
00:29:52I don't know.
00:29:53I don't know.
00:29:54I don't know.
00:29:55I don't know.
00:29:56I'm bad looking.
00:29:57I don't smoke.
00:29:58I don't drink.
00:29:59I used to give money to my mother.
00:30:01Let me go.
00:30:02Please, you belong to Ruby.
00:30:04I belong to myself.
00:30:16I found some perfume in my bag.
00:30:18Is this my knife?
00:30:19It stinks.
00:30:20What are you smoking?
00:30:21Some concoction of peace.
00:30:23He makes a brew, too.
00:30:25Don't that kill you?
00:30:26Throw it away.
00:30:28You really go for her, don't you?
00:30:31Nothing like a country girl who plays hard to get.
00:30:34She makes me sick.
00:30:36Sorority clubs.
00:30:38Country clubs.
00:30:39Ready to come home to Ruby?
00:30:42You still got her on your mind, haven't you?
00:30:51She's jealous this time.
00:30:53Oh, forget her.
00:30:54There are bigger things to worry about.
00:30:56According to Jim, there's only enough food for a month.
00:30:59No, I wouldn't worry about that.
00:31:01I've got an idea we're not going to live that long anyway.
00:31:03Four weeks for six people.
00:31:05How long can two people live on that?
00:31:08Twelve weeks, get it?
00:31:10Yeah.
00:31:11Ah, you and me, Ruby.
00:31:14Three months.
00:31:16After that, it should be all right.
00:31:18Well, how are you going to get rid of four people?
00:31:20Five counting Roddick.
00:31:22Five counting Roddick.
00:31:24I've got to get my hands on a gun.
00:31:28The main thing is, are you with me, baby?
00:31:5212.
00:31:54Actually, you know what, what, he lives down there!
00:31:56What?
00:31:57See?
00:31:58How small Podio over such satu comes!
00:32:00Because, of persons from the high school about Kits Massachusetts,
00:32:01we've got to lock off the wall from ancient Brat she bears!
00:32:03So long can't go inside of IRS.
00:32:04See?
00:32:05No part of lipstick, honey!
00:32:06and we've got four more people away!
00:32:07How busy Henry?
00:32:08Just to go inside from the..."
00:32:09See?
00:32:10During hisessional knuckle...
00:32:11To be beautiful!
00:32:16He began to get a FIRM Mark.
00:32:17He believed he was on fire...
00:32:18...but not so far!
00:32:19It's time I showed you something.
00:32:21As I told you, it was my job to tow the animal ship out of target zero.
00:32:26I got the first look at them.
00:32:29A thousand different species.
00:32:31I remember the newspapers said that they'd all been completely destroyed.
00:32:35The papers lied, Rick. Three of them lived through it.
00:32:39Lived through the H-bomb?
00:32:41There was a law against taking photographs.
00:32:43None against sketching what you'd seen.
00:32:46They were placed in cages, male and female, of each species.
00:32:55That was a chipmunk.
00:32:57That was alive?
00:32:59It lived for three days.
00:33:07The third survivor was a monkey.
00:33:10Its skin looked like rubber, but it had the feel of metal.
00:33:15Armor plated.
00:33:18Nature's answer to complete nuclear radiation.
00:33:23A million years of evolution with one bomb.
00:33:26They lived for three days.
00:33:29By the time we got back to the inspection ship, they were dead.
00:33:32If we could find out why they died, it might help us.
00:33:34I couldn't figure it out.
00:33:36Except they wouldn't touch food or water.
00:33:43A new species.
00:33:45The ancestors of whatever we have out there.
00:33:47Sometimes I have a feeling of doom.
00:33:50All I know is there are two forms of life fighting for survival here in this valley.
00:33:55And only one of them can win. It's got to be us.
00:33:58You're right, Rick.
00:34:01It's surprising how much strength I've drawn from you.
00:34:06I planned this whole thing just to stay alive.
00:34:09But you've given me a feeling of responsibility towards the future of our kind.
00:34:13Thanks, Jim.
00:34:15I think I'll turn in now.
00:34:18I've thought a lot about it.
00:34:21I talked to the girls in the morning.
00:34:24The girls?
00:34:25Yes.
00:34:27They should bear children as soon as possible.
00:34:48I've said it.
00:35:01I'm going to die someday.
00:35:04…
00:35:09Xiao...
00:35:17Stop him, Dad.
00:35:40No, let him go. Rick will teach him a lesson.
00:35:47Rick will teach him a lesson.
00:35:54Rick will teach him a lesson.
00:36:01Rick will teach him a lesson.
00:36:09I'm going to kill you.
00:36:21Are you all right, honey?
00:36:23Get out of my life.
00:36:25Wind's good.
00:36:34No sign of rain.
00:36:36Placid girl, I'll speak my piece.
00:36:38I'm a blunt man.
00:36:39I'm listening.
00:36:40You're all right.
00:36:41Do you like Rick?
00:36:42Yes.
00:36:43Honey, could you love him?
00:36:47The sea captain can perform marriages in an emergency.
00:36:58I want you to marry Rick.
00:37:00I want you to have children.
00:37:02There'll be no wedding and no children.
00:37:04Honey, you've got to think of the future.
00:37:06There's to be no future.
00:37:07Yes, there is for you.
00:37:09You have a week to get used to the idea, huh?
00:37:13Aren't you listening to me?
00:37:17Yes, Dad.
00:37:18I'll marry Rick in a week.
00:37:20He'll be still here if I am.
00:37:23What's the matter, baby?
00:37:25I'm all right.
00:37:27You tell Ruby.
00:37:29I'll speak to Tony and Rick.
00:37:33You tell Ruby.
00:37:35I'll speak to Tony and Rick.
00:37:38You tell Ruby.
00:37:39I'll speak to Tony and Rick.
00:37:42This is going to open that storeroom door for me.
00:37:48Can you imagine us with a kid?
00:37:51We won't tell him his old lady was a striptease artist.
00:37:55I wonder what's wrong with Louise.
00:37:57She's been in her room most of the day.
00:37:59I think she's going over a rocker.
00:38:01Maybe we all are.
00:38:03You still go for her, don't you?
00:38:06She wants no part of you, but you still go for her.
00:38:09All I want is this key to open that storeroom door.
00:38:14It's you and me you said.
00:38:16But it's her you're thinking of, you rotten liar.
00:38:19So I'm a liar.
00:38:21Any friend you had in the world was me.
00:38:24Anyone who loved you was me.
00:38:26You cheap hood.
00:38:30That's for you, lover.
00:38:33Now leave me alone.
00:38:51Well, it's lost some of its density.
00:38:53Not enough, Rick.
00:38:54We won't be able to go up there for two months.
00:38:56They're running out of supplies.
00:38:58A couple of weeks, all we got left.
00:39:15Don't touch it.
00:39:16Look at his feet.
00:39:25Look at his feet.
00:39:26The footprints by the water.
00:39:28Hold.
00:39:31They wouldn't give me any.
00:39:33Are there more of you up there?
00:39:36Stronger than me.
00:39:40Much stronger.
00:39:42How many more?
00:39:45Not many, but strong.
00:39:48Food.
00:39:49You won't be needing any food now, poor devil.
00:40:04Look at his head, the bone structure.
00:40:08The sketches you made at Matsuo.
00:40:14Look.
00:40:17The same mutated skin the animals had.
00:40:21He said there were stronger ones up there.
00:40:23Stage two, this one.
00:40:25Stage three, stronger.
00:40:27Stage four, maybe invulnerable.
00:40:30What about stage one?
00:40:32You didn't mention that.
00:40:34Radek is stage one.
00:40:41Sounds like rain.
00:40:43Something's happened to die below.
00:40:55Come in.
00:40:57Hi.
00:41:03Your father told me you weren't feeling too well.
00:41:05I'm sorry.
00:41:06I'm feeling much better now.
00:41:07Good.
00:41:10Rick, there's something out there.
00:41:13You know that, don't you?
00:41:16We're just guessing.
00:41:17We don't know.
00:41:18I do.
00:41:19Hmm?
00:41:20He tries to talk to me.
00:41:22Remember I told you at the lake I had a tingling sensation?
00:41:28Like I was being charged with electricity.
00:41:31My pulse was pounding and skipping beats and then pounding again.
00:41:36You were just frightened, that's all.
00:41:39It's been coming back every so often.
00:41:43Stronger and stronger.
00:41:45Stronger and stronger.
00:41:50You don't believe me, do you?
00:41:51I'm beginning to believe a lot of things I never believed before.
00:41:57I'm glad you're here with me.
00:41:59You know, he's getting so fidgety, Ruby, I can't do a thing for him.
00:42:10You know, I'm getting out of here.
00:42:12And soon, too.
00:42:13Pete, I need a drink.
00:42:16Well, you've come to the right place.
00:42:19There you are.
00:42:20Thanks.
00:42:21Ruby, you're my friend.
00:42:24And half of that gold is yours.
00:42:27Well, this is a terrible place.
00:42:31Thanks for the poison, Pete.
00:42:33Won't hurt your might.
00:42:39You'd like a little of that snort, too, wouldn't you?
00:42:48Tony.
00:42:49You've been drinking Pete Shellac again.
00:42:52I can't stand a boozer.
00:42:58We've had fights before, but we've straightened them out.
00:43:01Oh, Tony, you and me belong together.
00:43:04We're poured out of the same mold.
00:43:06I wouldn't make a book on that baby.
00:43:09I'm turning in.
00:43:11I've had a house for bedtime.

00:53:52All right, Pete, I'm coming after you.
00:54:06Go ahead, Captain, if that's what you've got to do.
00:54:10Come back here.
00:54:11You'll die in there.
00:54:12You old fool.
00:54:22Come back here.
00:54:52Jim, what happened?
00:55:10Pete, he went up on the ridge after his fool gold, and I went after him.
00:55:14Into the vapor?
00:55:15Yeah, I hope into the cot.
00:55:16All right.
00:55:21Louise is not to know, Rick.
00:55:23Right.
00:55:24How long were you up there?
00:55:26Long enough.
00:55:28Don't tell the others I hurt myself.
00:55:31It'll explain my being in bed.
00:55:32Don't worry.
00:55:33Maybe you've developed an immunity to it.
00:55:35Save your bedside manner, Rick.
00:55:37I should have gone with Pete.
00:55:53At least he got somewhere.
00:55:54Well, if it rains now, we'll all be joining him.
00:55:58Rick, you've been on a level with me.
00:55:59I want to know the truth.
00:56:01About what?
00:56:02Look at that.
00:56:02Look at that skin.
00:56:04What's the matter with it?
00:56:05It's getting like radix.
00:56:07Oh, no, it isn't.
00:56:09You're lying, Rick.
00:56:11It's happening.
00:56:12Oh.
00:56:13Feeling better, Dad?
00:56:28That's better, honey.
00:56:29You okay?
00:56:30I'm fine.
00:56:31I'm just worried about you, that's all.
00:56:33I'll be all right, baby.
00:56:36Where's Rick?
00:56:37Outside, looking around.
00:56:39I think I'll go outside and look for him.
00:56:41Okay.
00:56:43Someone took one of the knives out of the kitchen.
00:56:52You don't say.
00:56:54I think I'll go out for some air.
00:56:56Let me come with you.
00:56:57You stay here.
00:56:58I'll see you later.
00:56:59Oh, I hate this place.
00:57:01I wish we had never found it.
00:57:03Look.
00:57:04Look what's happening to my skin.
00:57:06I've looked at it ten times already.
00:57:08There's nothing wrong with it.
00:57:09You're screaming, I'll cut.
00:57:28I mean it.
00:57:30Now move that way.
00:57:31Sit down, Louise.
00:57:49Louise.
00:57:55Nothing ever come easy to me.
00:57:57All my life I had to claw for things.
00:58:01What do you want?
00:58:04You mean you don't know?
00:58:09There's something new in my life.
00:58:12I haven't had time for your kind of woman.
00:58:14Don't touch me.
00:58:15I can't stand you.
00:58:18Oh, you won't hate me when there's just the two of us.
00:58:21There'll be no point to it.
00:58:24Get what I mean?
00:58:26Leave me alone.
00:58:34Tony.
00:58:35Let the little girl go.
00:58:37Get out of here.
00:58:42Run along, honey.
00:58:44I've got a few private words with Mr. Heal.
00:58:50You don't know when you're through, do you?
00:58:53The two of us, you said.
00:58:55But you meant her.
00:58:56Yeah, that's right.
00:58:57Now you know.
00:58:59You're dime store stuff.
00:59:00You're cheap.
00:59:02I didn't know what it meant till just now.
00:59:05I hate your guts, Tony.
00:59:08You're dirt to her.
00:59:09She'd wish herself dead first.
00:59:14Oh, Tony.
00:59:15What are we fighting about?
00:59:18We're like a couple of kids.
00:59:19I want no part of you.
00:59:22Face it.
00:59:46Happy landing, sweetheart.
00:59:47Ruby wouldn't come back with me.
01:00:00We had this little beef, so she stayed outside to cool off.
01:00:04She'll be back when she's good and ready.
01:00:06I have a little something to settle with you myself.
01:00:09Tomorrow, maybe.
01:00:10I'm tired right now.
01:00:11Okay, so you can beat me up.
01:00:16What does that solve?
01:00:18You go near Louise again and I'll kill me.
01:00:23You?
01:00:23I haven't had a good laugh all day.
01:00:28I think I'll turn in now.
01:00:38He'll kill you, Rick.
01:00:40Get him first, now.
01:00:41Take my gun.
01:00:43Just sneak up on Tony and empty your gun into him.
01:00:46I thought you knew me better than that.
01:00:47There's a lot at stake.
01:00:49At least carry a gun on you.
01:00:52Here, get one out of the storeroom.
01:00:55Be ready to use it.
01:00:57Nothing, huh?
01:01:20Reminds me of a song.
01:01:24Ten little Indians.
01:01:25Then they get knocked off one at a time.
01:01:28That's the way it is with us.
01:01:30Four of us left.
01:01:32Then...
01:01:33Three little, two little, no little Indians.
01:01:39How long do you think before a guy can go up there?
01:01:42I don't know.
01:01:44Be something to see.
01:01:45What's left of New York or Chicago.
01:01:47Oh, I just thought it'd be a good idea.
01:01:53Try that again and I'll kill you.
01:01:55Sure, Captain.
01:01:57I know when I've had it.
01:02:17Rick!
01:02:21Rick!
01:02:24Rick!
01:02:25What's the matter?
01:02:31In there.
01:02:32What is it?
01:02:33It called to me.
01:02:35Oh, now stop that.
01:02:37Don't leave me alone.
01:02:39Take me home.
01:02:40Just take me home.
01:02:41All right.
01:02:42Do you have any idea what it looked like?
01:02:44I didn't see it clearly, but I heard it.
01:02:47Well, it was only 20 feet from you.
01:02:48I didn't hear anything.
01:02:49Take me home.
01:02:50Just take me home.
01:02:51All right.
01:02:51How is she, Rick?
01:03:05She's still pretty badly shaken.
01:03:06I give her a sedative.
01:03:08Hope it works.
01:03:09Did you find out anything else?
01:03:12She insists that it called to her.
01:03:15What about its appearance?
01:03:17I mean, that its skin was like Raddick's and...
01:03:19Yeah, go on.
01:03:20But it had more than two eyes.
01:03:25Sketches of the monkey at Matsuo.
01:03:27Jim, did that monkey grow any in size?
01:03:29No.
01:03:29No, it didn't.
01:03:31Louise said that this thing is man's size.
01:03:35That it's man, not animal.
01:03:37How can we fight it, Jim?
01:03:38How can we kill it?
01:03:40You're the one that said we'd find an answer.
01:03:43It lives on contaminated flesh.
01:03:45It thrives on contaminated air.
01:03:47Things that kill men nourish it.
01:03:50Things that kill men nourish it.
01:03:53But he's driving it.
01:03:55Jim, to kill it, we've got to understand it.
01:03:57And we know it has fears.
01:03:58It was close enough to Louise to attack her, but it didn't.
01:04:01It wouldn't follow her into the lake.
01:04:03Why?
01:04:07Sounds like rain out there.
01:04:09Why?
01:04:13It doesn't kill her.
01:06:28Hey!
01:06:29Hey!
01:06:30Hey!
01:06:31Hey!
01:06:32Hey!
01:06:41Hey!
01:06:42Hey!
01:06:46Hey!
01:06:47Hey!
01:06:51Hey!
01:06:52Hey!
01:06:54Hey!
01:06:55Hey!
01:06:56Hey!
01:06:57Hey!
01:06:59Hey!
01:07:00Hey!
01:07:01Hey!
01:07:02Hey!
01:07:03Hey!
01:07:04Hey!
01:07:05Hey!
01:07:06Hey!
01:07:07Hey!
01:07:08Hey!
01:07:09Hey!
01:07:10Hey!
01:07:11Hey!
01:07:18Hey!
01:07:19Hey!
01:07:20She's not in there.
01:07:35It's got her.
01:07:37You know how to use an M1 rifle?
01:07:38Get one out of the storeroom.
01:07:40It's all set to use.
01:07:44What's all the noise?
01:07:46It's got her.
01:07:47Go with Rick, Tony.
01:07:48Maybe between the two of you.
01:07:50Oh, no.
01:07:52She's Rick's.
01:07:53Remember, you gave her to him.
01:07:57Well, here's your chance to be Mr. All-American Hero.
01:08:00Rick!
01:08:04Come close.
01:08:06You won't need the pistol.
01:08:07Slip it under my pillow.
01:08:15Rick.
01:08:15If there's no other way out, use that gun on Louise.
01:08:28Louise!
01:08:41It's dawn already.
01:08:43Well, Captain, looks like your ship's fallen apart, don't it?
01:08:50You've been no help.
01:08:53You wouldn't look for Ruby.
01:08:54You wouldn't help Rick find Louise.
01:08:57You're a low scum.
01:08:59I'm a coward.
01:09:01I only fight when I have to and on my conditions.
01:09:03One of them is that I know what I'm fighting.
01:09:05That's better, Captain.
01:09:12They're two men and one gun.
01:09:14I like to have it.
01:09:15They're four scum.
01:09:17That's better, Captain.
01:09:17Oh, my God.
01:09:47A voice came over.
01:09:51No, there's nothing.
01:09:52You're a liar.
01:09:54A dying man shouldn't lie.
01:09:57You think I don't know you went after Pete?
01:09:59That's why you're so brave.
01:10:01That's why you're moving in.
01:10:03Moving in?
01:10:05I'm taking over.
01:10:06The works.
01:10:08The house, Louise, if she gets back.
01:10:10I'd make a better father for her kids than Rick would.
01:10:14They'll be tough.
01:10:17It looks like rain.
01:10:25Still think it'll polish us off?
01:10:27You'll know soon enough.
01:10:45Rick!
01:10:47Rick!
01:10:48Rick!
01:10:49Rick!
01:10:49Rick!
01:10:50Rick!
01:10:50Rick!
01:10:50Oh, my God.
01:11:20The water. He's afraid of the water.
01:11:50The water.
01:11:51The water.
01:11:52The water.
01:11:53The water.
01:11:54The water.
01:11:55The water.
01:11:56Oh, my God.
01:11:57Get back to the house, Louise.
01:12:21I'm going after it.
01:12:23Rick!
01:12:27There's your rain, but good.
01:12:33How long do you think we've got to live, Captain?
01:12:36Get me a sample.
01:12:37I'll test it.
01:12:57All that action out there, and the lousy rain's got to finish us off.
01:13:05Send me my Geiger counter.
01:13:06It's clear.
01:13:26It's just rainwater.
01:13:28Well, what do you know?
01:13:34So Easter did it.
01:13:38The lake.
01:13:41He was afraid of the lake.
01:13:44What was afraid of the lake?
01:13:45Oh, my God.

01:15:55Yeah, that's it, all right.
01:15:58They're getting closer.
01:16:05What are you doing with that gun?
01:16:07I'm gonna kill Rick.
01:16:08In God's name, why?
01:16:10I thought you knew why.
01:16:12I want Louise.
01:16:16I think I see them now.
01:16:18Yeah, it's gonna be a tough shot.
01:16:20She's hanging all over him.
01:16:27Get away from that one.
01:16:28Shut up.
01:16:30Pretty soon now.
01:16:50He's gonna kill Rick.
01:16:52I had to stop him.
01:16:58That thing out there is dead, Jim.
01:17:00The rain killed it.
01:17:02I took a test of the rain.
01:17:04Found it free from contamination.
01:17:07Kept praying, but I stopped worrying.
01:17:09I remember the animals on my ship.
01:17:12How they wouldn't touch food or water.
01:17:15And I knew why.
01:17:17That thing was created to live in a poisoned world.
01:17:21And the rain came and it was pure.
01:17:25Man created it, but God destroyed it.
01:17:29He brought the rain and fresh air.
01:17:31If he couldn't live, then neither could the others of his kind.
01:17:37There was a voice on the radio while you were gone.
01:17:41There are others out there.
01:17:43There's a future out there for you two.
01:17:47I've got to go and find it.
01:17:49Oh, no.
01:18:19I've got to go.
01:18:26Are you about ready, Louise?
01:18:28Coming.
01:18:49We'll mess that up.
01:19:07Well, come on.
