Karen Greaves BEM says the next step on the council's leisure review is to speak to members of the community.
Transcript
00:00Leisure review was undertaken, I believe, by a piece of work done that was presented to the council, and the councils had an initial consideration of that.
00:10I think the next stage in that will be to go around the different communities and speak about leisure in their community,
00:15and sort of look with the user groups in a similar way that has been done with the libraries,
00:20and really just to understand what do we need in each community, what do they value the most, what's available,
00:26what's the best use of the asset, what's the best use of the expertise in the different types of sport and leisure,
00:33and so I think that needs to be an ongoing conversation with our communities to see if we can find affordable, useful, beneficial options that people value,
00:43and that do help people become fitter, more active, social inclusion, so yeah, we really need to have those conversations to see what would be the next step in that leisure review.
00:53Progress is really good on the growth deal, there are about, I think this year we'll see seven of the eight projects going into delivery,
01:04coming into Murray, I think it's a fantastic growth deal, it's got a real mixture of different elements to it,
01:11it's got a transport, it's got a business enterprise hub, it's got things for early years for the youngsters,
01:20you know, looking at their STEM subjects and really getting them involved in those types of topics and subjects
01:28and looking ahead to their future careers.
