00:00I'm a great believer that actually gardening shouldn't cost you a lot of money.
00:04You don't have to have all the latest gadgets and latest bits of decking and hot tubs and all of that.
00:12I think you just really just want to create a beautiful, beautiful space.
00:18You know, it's I think for people, it's so important to be immersed with beautiful plants, foliage, flowers, fruit and just create a beautiful space.
00:28And go for sort of slow growing plants, perennials, you know, plants that will come back again.
00:35So you haven't got to keep planting them every year and evergreens.
00:39And actually, I'm a big fan of evergreen shrubs.
00:41If you want a low maintenance garden, that's that's perfect because evergreen shrubs, they they don't drop leaves.
00:48You don't have to clear them up later on. They provide privacy.
00:51They provide all year round interest and all of that.
00:55I'm working at the moment with with Raisin, which is sort of a money saving marketplace.
01:01And they've done research to sort of and they've discovered that having a lovely garden actually increases the value of your house by up to 20 percent.
01:11And think of that 20 percent added value that it might bring.
01:14In your experience, what are the most effective value boosting things people can do for their gardens?
01:18I would actually say that the simplest thing you can do is put a table and chairs in your garden straight away.
01:24That makes people feel there's somewhere I could sit and enjoy and relax in my garden.
01:28It's just that that's that psychology, isn't it?
01:30That's that my garden is somewhere beautiful to enjoy.
01:33But also just try and just keep everything simple.
01:36So don't have too much, too much clutter.
01:39If you've got a smaller outdoor space, say you live in a high rise building in a city or you live in somewhere where you've only got a yard.
01:49Are there similar things people can do for those spaces as if you had a lawn or a big garden?
01:54Yeah, there are. And in fact, do you know, I sort of you sometimes go into these beautiful spaces, you know, balconies and you can go vertical.
02:03Don't forget. So you can have climbing plants, you know, you can you can train things up up walls on fences.
02:08What's one gardening tip you wish that every homeowner knew, whether they were selling up or if they're staying put?
02:15Just tidy it up. Just literally tidy it up.
02:19If you've got somebody coming to do a viewing because, you know, that's some of the research that Raisin have sort of been looking at is people don't want to look at a house and think, oh, my word, there's going to be a lot of maintenance.
