00:00We're constantly told, well, it's got to be long, straight or blonde.
00:02And you're like, well, actually, or maybe no hair is beautiful too.
00:06Queer love is not abnormal.
00:08It's, you know, what happens every day.
00:11And I wanted to make sure that I was true to myself.
00:15So there are songs that are about him and there are songs that are about her.
00:19And as someone who's bisexual, that's my experience.
00:22Naturally, I just want to show up as my best self.
00:26And the only way we can do that is to show up as ourselves.
00:28And I think if we're consistently trying to hide behind what other people say is acceptable,
00:35then you actually diminish who you are and you can't properly do the work that you're meant to.
00:42So for me, I'm constantly trying to encourage people to actually truly be themselves.
00:48Bit by bit, I've been learning about who I am, whether it's the act of cutting my hair,
00:51whether it's about piercings, whether it's about the way I wear my makeup,
00:56whether it's the way I wear my clothes.
00:57Because that for me is sort of a rebellion, how the clothes I choose, the hair, the way I wear my hair.
01:04You can be plain and have no piercings or you can have all the piercings in the world.
01:07And it still is beautiful that we can challenge what the ethics of beauty are.
01:14And it allows the doors to be a little bit more open for us as feminists, as women.
01:21And I try to keep telling young people that that is the thing we need to do.
01:25Take the time to discover who you are.
01:28And when you discover who you are, it's less frightening to just be.
01:31I think that feminism is an attempt to equal the playing field for all of us,
01:53so that we have equal rights, so that we have equal pay, so that we're seen in the workplace more.
01:59That we have the same amount of foundation that men have in our lives so that we can also thrive just as much.
02:08We've been around for thousands of years and we will continue to be around.
02:12It's just whether or not people start to get used to the fact that we're here and we're not going anywhere.
02:17And I think that's okay.
02:19With your name, it's perfect.
02:20Thank you very much.
02:21Thank you very much, Cynthia.
02:23Bonne journée.
