New Urgent Care Centre opens at Ulster Hospital
Transcript
00:00We're currently standing in the new urgent care centre on the Ulster Hospital site.
00:19We've been running a minor injuries unit out of our old emergency department since September of
00:242023. As of the 18th of June, which is a Wednesday, that unit will close at 6pm. The next morning,
00:31on Thursday the 19th of June, we'll be opening the new urgent care centre at 8am. This will
00:38operate from 8am to 6pm, seven days a week. This is a walk-in service. You can arrive to the urgent
00:44care centre without making a full appointment ahead of time. We can treat all kinds of minor
00:48injuries. That includes things like broken bones, burns and skulls, bites, nose blades,
00:54and various other minor injuries. The main point of access is through the critical care building.
00:59So if you're arriving on the Ulster Hospital site by car, you can park up at the multi-storey car park
01:05and then right across from there is the entrance to the critical care building. This will all be
01:09very well signposted into the urgent care centre. If you have mobility issues or unable to walk,
01:16you can then be dropped off at the pick up drop off point that's designated outside the main
01:21emergency department. You can then take the lifts down one level to the urgent care centre. The team
01:27is really excited about being in this new space. It's a really beautiful space. It's well kitted out
01:32with all of the equipment and IT things that we need. But most importantly, we like that it's co-located
01:38with our emergency department. This is all one service. The emergency department and the urgent care
01:43service are all run by the same emergency services team.
