The fallout from the state government's decision to evict some social housing tenants has erupted in parliament today. The opposition seized on the move while also calling on the government to save the Toowong Private Hospital.

00:06On Monday, the government announced it would launch annual reviews of social housing tenants' eligibility,
00:12with 52,000 people on the wait list.
00:15But the overhaul won't include an update of income limits, last reviewed in 2006.

01:37What we need is the Christopher Lee government to step in here and purchase this hospital
01:42and roll it into the public network to ensure that the capacity isn't lost.
01:47The government didn't respond to questions about whether it would buy the private hospital.
01:52It says it's continuing to work with the facility to determine the impact its closure may have
01:58on public health services.
