00:00He has access to other realities and he stole me from my world so that he could
00:06take my life. Do you know how that sounds? The idea of being amongst the science
00:10fiction premise that really was making something even more human in terms of
00:16these questions of our relationship with our choices in the past and our
00:20intention for ourselves and the road not taken and regret and remorse and all
00:25these things. It felt so human and yet there's this conceit there. I like that it
00:29was asking sort of everyday questions that a lot of people ask themselves I
00:33think about what am I doing with my life and do I like what I'm doing with my
00:37life? Do I like who I'm doing my life with? You know but it's doing it in this
00:42spectacular sci-fi kind of way and I really I really liked that about it. The
00:48show is sort of like to get a chance to get a do-over because I kind of felt in
00:52the years right after the book that I was like kind of missed that opportunity to
00:57write this like Hitchcockian. So Blake 2 wrote the show, Blake 1 wrote the book.
01:02The Jason 2 thing is interesting because in the book Jason 2 we really only meet
01:07him in the beginning and at the end he doesn't have this big arc and so he's a
01:11little more villainous in the book and it's a very interesting conversation we
01:15had like I really want to get under his skin and not make him this bad guy. Part of
01:21the dilemma of one of my characters of Jason 1 as we call him is is realizing by
01:26having something taken away how much you really really did hold it dear.
01:32There's a difference between how Daniela presents and how she feels. I think she's
01:38someone who's has centered her life around her family to her marriage to her
01:42son. There's sort of a flip side to it which is you know her fears and
01:46insecurities. I think of her as someone who's like kind of really about love and
01:51she gets she gets taken away from it. It was kind of fun the bits where they were
01:56unraveling and kind of getting at each other a little bit. I always love that too
02:01because no matter how different Jason 2 is in those moments or how much he
02:07forgets about the history of the family you would never look at your own partner
02:12and go okay you've been swapped from another dimension. Yeah. You have to go
02:17am I crazy? Are you falling out of love with me? I don't need psychiatric help just
02:23need answers. You know getting back to this whole question of what you lose and what
02:36you want back is it is very possible to realize that the life you think you're
02:42not happy with is actually the exact life you need to have and find a way to be
02:47happy with it or see what's happy about it.
