Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai appointed Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Strategy)

Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai has been appointed as the Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Strategy).

00:00Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, whom Pakistan's DGMO had called pleading for a ceasefire,

00:04was appointed as the Deputy Chief of Army Staff Strategy on 9 June 2025.

00:09The Deputy Chief Strategy is a relatively new vertical created to oversee the Indian Army's operations and intelligence directorates.

00:15The Ministry of Defense calls it one of the most strategic roles in the Indian Army.

00:19On June 4, Lieutenant General Ghai was also conferred the Uttam Yudh Seva Medal by the President of India.

00:24A decorated officer from the Kumao Regiment, Lieutenant General Ghai has held several critical commands.

00:29As the GOC of the Chennar Corps, he led counter-insurgency operations in Jammu and Kashmir

00:33before taking charge as Director General of Military Operations on October 25, 2024.

00:39With his new appointment, Lieutenant General Ghai will continue to serve as a DGMO.
