00:00If you feel better, no, if you feel better, then let me go.
00:06It's because with a gun, anybody will be in there.
00:13President Trump is responding aggressively to protests over his immigration policies in Los Angeles.
00:22Last night he's posting on social media to bring in the troops.
00:25He's already deployed 2,000 National Guard members over the objections of California Governor Gavin Newsom.
00:32And the military says there's 500 Marines on standby as well.
00:36This is a very provocative situation where the president has eagerly embraced this conflict over his immigration policies in the blue state of California.
00:47He has often talked about using troops against American citizens and protesters.
00:52I think that's honestly what's heartbreaking the most because they're making it seem like they're really bad people, like criminals.
01:07And when they're not, when they're just trying to work hard for their own family.
01:10California Governor Gavin Newsom does not want the National Guard there.
01:13He has rejected Trump's approach to the protests.
01:17He says that California can handle it on their own and he wants to rescind their deployment.
01:22However, Trump seems not interested in listening to what he wants and he is pushing forward.
01:28And also he cited comments from the Los Angeles police chief, Jim McDonnell,
01:32who has expressed openness to having the National Guard there most recently on Sunday when he said that the violence is escalating.
01:39And he's open to having that help.
01:47People that are causing the problem are professional agitators, they're insurrectionists, they're bad people, they should be in jail.
02:02What Trump is doing right now is very rare.
02:05It's very unusual for a president to deploy the National Guard over the objections of a state's governor.
02:11This was used during the civil rights era when the U.S. president deployed the National Guard to integrate schools in the South over the objections of governors there.
02:21But this is a far different situation and it really shows how Trump is using the full extent of his powers to try to push his agenda forward.
02:30My husband's a soldier overseas as we sit and I'm a veteran.
02:33So this angers me.
02:36This angers me.
02:37It's disgusting.
02:38They're using their own soldiers on their own people.
03:02No somos criminales.
03:03No somos criminales para que llegue la Guardia Nacional.
03:06Yo sé que ellos los mandaron, pero hey, no se vale.
03:10Ellos están aquí porque los mandaron, están haciendo su trabajo, pero...
03:13Pero...
