00:00Later tonight, Nassim Ahmed will get his chance here on his home turf in London.
00:05Right now, though, we take you into the dressing room of Irish Steve Collins making final preparations for his sixth defense of the WBO Super Middleweight Championship.
00:14He's held the title since March of 1995 when he outpointed Chris Eubank, his first big win.
00:20He's now won 13 in a row looking for 14 against the number one rated challenger, Frederic Selye of France.
00:27Collins, originally from Dublin, has really found his niche moving from Boston, where he lived and fought, as mentioned earlier, from 86 through 90, back to his native Ireland.
00:37So right here at the London Arena on what's called the Isle of Dogs, some 30 minutes from the west end of London, it's Collins versus Selye for the WBO Super Middleweight Championship.
00:48And back to the fight, Dr. Ferdinand Pacheco, how would you characterize the careers of Collins and Selye?
00:54Collins, of course, with more world championship experience.
00:56It's hard to tell you the difference.
00:58I can only say it's maybe 80-20, 80 being Collins.
01:02Collins fought four enormous fights with Chris Eubanks and Nigel Benn.
01:06I mean, you know, those were great, big, throbbing, huge fights.
01:09He won them, all four of them.
01:11And Selye has not fought anybody of that quality or even close to that quality.
01:15I would say 80-20 is a fair evaluation of the importance of Collier's fight to Selye.
01:20Yeah, the biggest man that Selye has fought, Frankie Lyles, but he lost in that fight.
01:25Lyles really taught him a lesson, a scientific approach to boxing a couple of years ago in Florida.
01:31Talk about the style of Frederick Selye right now.
01:34Is he tailor-made, his aggressive straight-ahead style for Irish Steve Collins?
01:39Well, Steve Collins is just that.
01:40He comes in shape, he's ready to fight, a no-nonsense man that wants to get right to the fight.
01:44No ifs, ands, or buts about it.
01:45That's what he's come to do.
01:47Selye is very similar in that he's a stand-up guy who comes right at you.
01:50He's not hiding anything.
01:51He just comes forward.
01:52But he doesn't have the punch that Steve Collins has.
01:54Much better puncher, and he doesn't have that championship experience we just talked about.
01:57That is going to be key as this fight goes deeper and gets down the stretch.
02:01You saw it with Frank Lyles.
02:02Selye was lost after a while.
02:04He could go to school again tonight in a certainly different way.
02:06Do you think this fight has the potential to be as bombastic and exciting as the first thing?
02:13You like that word?
02:13Yes, I do.
02:14I like that word very much.
02:15Yes, I think it has exactly that makeup because both fighters come to fight.
02:18They come straight to the fight.
02:20Nobody wants to sit back and box.
02:21No one wants to let time pass.
02:23They want to fight, and that's what this is, and that's their style.
02:26Now, Selye could almost be like Pretorius in a sense, is that from what we have seen
02:31of him, observing him at ringside over the last few years, not the type to give up.
02:37He might not be in the same league, the same skill level as an Irish Steve Collins, but
02:41he does have heart, and he doesn't have a bad chin.
02:43Right.
02:43Now, that's just it.
02:44Sometimes that bad chin gets some fighters hurt a little more because they take more punishment
02:48and absorb longer, but it also keeps them in a fight when they get stunned.
02:52Collins can punch, and he punches a little better than Selye, which is a big thing, but
02:55they both have pretty good chins.
02:57I think it's going to be a barn burner.
02:58Selye, another one of those guys.
03:00Bobby, as we stand by for the ring walks, who has the cover boy looks, the movie star looks,
03:07a la Robin Reed.
03:08In fact, he's done a little acting.
03:09He once played an honest boxer on a soap opera in France.
03:14I don't know how I come up with these things.
03:15You say an honest boxer like that's bad.
03:17It's an honest boxing manager or trainer or promoter that's not honest.
03:21An honest politician is what's not.
03:23I sometimes wonder, though, about the fighters like Robin Reed we just saw in Selye, who look
03:28too good to be real serious fighters.
03:30I have problems with champions with straight noses, and it's not just because mine's flat.
03:34Usually, they get flat from experience because we've worked, and this is paying your dues to get there.
03:40Yeah, you know, and you see him with all these black marks, you almost feel like, you know, a poor guy.
03:44I mean, you know, anybody else who's, hey, tough fight, but he's so beautiful.
03:47You see all these blotches and things, but he ain't going to be beautiful long.
03:50There you go.
03:51It's not just a badge of honor.
03:52Now, fellas, I'm being told, being notified that the delay to get Selye and Collins over here
04:03is because the dressing room is upstairs, and there is a very narrow walkway between the dressing room
04:10to the ring, and the challenger apparently is ready.
04:13Frederick Selye, maybe he's just thinner than Collins, able to get through.
04:18Did you believe any of that?
04:19I just made it all up.
04:20No, that's the truth.
04:21Here he is, the challenger, Frederick Selye, from France, rated number one in the world
04:27by the WBO and WBA, former European champion tonight.
04:30His second world title shot, as mentioned, having lost to fabulous Frankie Lyles for the
04:36WBA super middleweight belt back in 1995 in Florida.
04:42And, Ferdy, as we witnessed in that fight with Frankie Lyles, we worked that fight together.
04:47Selye, not bashful.
04:49He goes after it, very aggressive.
04:51But that could spell trouble against a fighter like Irish did.
04:55Well, it did against us.
04:57Bobby put it in perspective when he said he went to school that night.
05:00I don't know if he graduated or not, or he just failed the course, but he went to school
05:04that night.
05:04If he didn't pick up and learn something from Frankie Lyles, he's in for a bit of the same
05:08tonight, because Collins can fight.
05:09When you get Collins to shave his head with a shamrock, you know, he's in business.
05:14I mean, he's going to ruin his looks with a shamrock.
05:16That Irishman's in business.
05:18That's right.
05:18He's got two shamrocks shaved into the sides of his head, as you will see momentarily,
05:23as Frederick Selye gets checked out, gloves get checked out by referee Joe Cortez, as once
05:29again, they keep the lights off here for the dramatic and theatrical effect in London.
05:35Here comes Irish Steve Collins to the tears of this crowd.
05:39You know, with a lot of the heated rivalry between English and Irish, it's great to see
05:51as many people supporting him here in England, it truly is nice.
05:54It is.

10:43one-half pounds or 167 and one-half
10:47U.S. pounds.
10:49His record stands at 43 wins six
10:52losses and three draws with 29 of his

11:06Zellier.
11:08And his opponent across the ring on my
11:19right is the defending world champion
11:20fighting out of the blue corner
11:21wearing tartan trunks and hailing from
11:23from Dublin, Ireland.
11:25He weighed in the same as in the tournament
11:28the one stone 13 and a half pounds
11:31for 167 and a half U.S. pounds.
11:34With a record of 34 wins three losses
11:37he has 19 wins coming by way of knockout.
11:41Here is the two-time world champion
11:44making the sixth defense of his current
11:46title introducing the WBO super middleweight
11:49champion of the world known as the
11:52Celtic warrior introducing Irish
11:55Steve Holland.
11:58And once again Joe Cortez our
12:07referee in charge.
12:08All right gentlemen we went over the
12:10rules in the dressing room.
12:11I want good sportsmen like conduct
12:14obey my commands at all times.
12:15Take your hands good luck above you.
12:17There are those shamrocks we talked
12:22about the side of Collins head.
12:24Very confident champion feeling
12:26he's at the top of his game
12:28beating the top rated guys loves
12:29the glory the attention loves to
12:31fight his fourth bout in 10 months.
12:33Number one rated challenger
12:34Frederick Zellier of France.
12:36He realizes this is a heavily pro
12:38Collins crowd but he said the crowd
12:40will not be a factor Joe Cortez from
12:43Las Vegas ready to bring him on.
12:45Seconds out there's the bell round
12:48one scheduled for 12 for the WBO
12:50super middleweight championship.
12:54Collins put this fight very
12:55succinctly telling us so he's
12:57durable has a good chin but he
12:58won't have to go looking for him.
13:00His style will work to his
13:02advantage said Collins.
13:04You see so he's very very tight
13:06stiff and he does something most
13:07orthodox fighters don't do.
13:09He came out moving to his right.
13:11And sell you a very mechanical but
13:13he goes right at Irish state
13:14college no surprise so he said
13:17he'll be able to adapt to to
13:19Collins.
13:20He knows Collins is strong but
13:21he's preparing about two or three
13:24months.
13:24Collins looking to work the body
13:26and slow sell you down.
13:29In our interview Collins said I'm
13:32looking to sicken the lout with a
13:34body attack.
13:35I thought that was kind of poetic
13:37man's been reading Shakespeare.
13:39He does have a way with where he
13:41does he is an entertaining man
13:43charismatic and very colorful
13:45character very like him.
13:46Very tremendous personality goes to
13:49work upstairs and down against
13:51so you said he's not looking for
13:53the knockout.
13:54He wants us to go the distance and
13:56get the judges behind him.
13:59But Collins is going for the KO.
14:02That's pretty obvious.
14:03Collins has an excellent chin and
14:04he's going to be able to hurt
14:06even with a cumulative effect.
14:07Collins would have to be in
14:08maybe less than perfect shape
14:09and they don't believe that's
14:10the case.
14:11That's another thing Collins
14:12said it was kind of funny Bob.
14:13He said you know one punch
14:14doesn't hurt hard but
14:15combination drives you crazy.
14:16You know I understand what he
14:17means because there's those
14:18quick fighters hit with two or
14:19three at a time to bother me
14:20never the one punch knockout
14:21artist but at the same time
14:22getting hit is always a
14:23cumulative effect.
14:24Collins very workmanlike
14:25determined not spectacular
14:27but at the same time getting
14:28hit is always a cumulative effect.
14:30Collins very workmanlike
14:31determined not spectacular
14:33but as they say blue collar
14:38tremendous heart excellent chin
14:40doesn't have great power but
14:42throws a lot of punches.
14:43He's been in the ring with the
14:45likes of Sambu Calum Bay and
14:46Mike McCallum so you know he
14:48knows what the best in the
14:50division has one obviously
14:52Nigel Ben and Chris Eubank
14:53both can punch so he's got a
14:55chin.
14:55Well if he could take Nigel
14:56Ben to to find and you back to
14:59both of them can bang.
15:00One of his more impressive
15:02efforts talking about Irish
15:04Steve Collins was in defeat.
15:07The decision to Mike McCallum in
15:091990 in Boston when McCallum was
15:11at the top of his game so you're
15:13just looking.
15:15And he hasn't felt real hard
15:17level yet.
15:17I mean punches are coming in
15:18pretty good not quite landing on
15:21the part of Collins with the force
15:23that he wants.
15:24See that kind of punch is hard but
15:25it's not landing.
15:26So far Selye has been just
15:28elusive enough to get out of the
15:29way.
15:30But very stiff.
15:31I mean it's the style I call it
15:32the ugly European style when he's
15:33very stiff.
15:34He's tight he's not flowing with
15:35his body at all his legs and his
15:36body are not together ones
15:37moving as opposed to moving
15:38together.
15:39It's very very tight and very
15:41stiff.
15:42Ready.
15:43Ready.
15:44Yeah.
15:45Hey.
15:46Okay.
15:47I feel like that.
15:48All right.
15:50Yeah.
15:51You.
15:52You.
15:53You.
15:54Good.
15:55I feel like that.
15:56You.
15:57You.
15:58You.
15:59You.
16:00You.
16:01You.
16:02You.
16:03You.
16:04You.
16:05You.
16:06You.
16:07You.
16:08You.
16:09You.
16:10You.
16:11You.
16:12It's a little bit tight.
16:13Okay.
16:14All right.
16:15I want you to loosen up a
16:16little bit.
16:17Now.
16:18Now that right here to the
16:19body is looking real well
16:20for you.
16:21All right.
16:22Now.
16:23You think that.
16:24You know, right.
16:25You're being a little bit
16:26tight out there.
16:27I ain't going to loosen up.
16:28You're getting a little bit
16:29tight out there.
16:30ителя.
16:31All right.
16:32And let's go to work
16:33out there with this guy.
16:34Okay.
16:35Don't wait for this guy.
16:36Use your things here.
16:37You guys use your fangs and you
16:39get your fangs and you have to
16:41open them up all right.
16:44Freddie Roach wearing the
16:45glasses has a tremendous rapport
16:47with Irish Steve Collins they
16:49really choked around a lot
16:50together they're always on the
16:51same page.
16:53Freddie Roach one of those guys
16:54that came in we thought he was a
16:56choir boy or something like we
16:57couldn't take him seriously he
16:58was so tough and gritty he had a
17:00great career he's now 38 years
17:02old 37 I think it seems
17:04incredible like yesterday he was
17:06fighting on TV Savage fighter.
17:09All right here we go round two
17:12pretty much more of the same say
17:14he's still looking to find a
17:15range which is going to be
17:16effective and right now he can't
17:17seem to find it doesn't seem
17:19strong enough to ward off or
17:21hold off a little nice right
17:22uppercut he's landed.
17:24He's leaning a couple of nice
17:25clean shots on the balance and
17:28stuffing a little bit of a
17:29barroom brawl.
17:30Yeah Frederick Celia coming on
17:31a little bit the crowd getting
17:33anxious and Collins getting
17:35tight there.
17:36You know what I particularly
17:37don't like about stiff fighters
17:38how the hell hold a head up with
17:39a stiff neck.
17:40I mean it looks like it's a it's
17:42a golf ball on a tee waiting to
17:43get hit.
17:44I mean he's so stiff his neck and
17:46his head is just standing up
17:47there no no no desire to tuck it
17:49in under a shoulder or protect
17:50it.
17:51So yeah no nonsense straight ahead
17:55style very busy not a heavy puncher
17:58but throws a lot.
18:00His best weapon is the right hand
18:01lead.
18:03I think there's a cut in the left
18:04eye of saying.
18:06Yeah.
18:07I didn't really see when that
18:08happened.
18:09I saw him wipe his face but I
18:10couldn't see the blood right
18:11away.
18:12I kept watching and that's where
18:13it showed up.
18:14I don't know if it was from a
18:15headbutt or a punch.
18:17Well whatever it is it looks
18:18nice and bloody.
18:19Now it's getting a little nasty
18:20a minute thirty to go in round
18:21two.
18:22We'll see it in the corner when
18:23we go back hopefully.
18:24And it's just about above the
18:26eye where it could be
18:27troublesome.
18:28Yeah.
18:29Right.
18:30Right.
18:31The eyelid line.
18:33So perhaps a little bit of a
18:35sense of urgency.
18:36Right.
18:37Right hook by Schellier.
18:38Very game.
18:40So you got Collins' attention
18:41right away Collins on the
18:42attack.
18:43Freshman being very effective
18:44got countered and a little
18:45sloppy.
18:46Left his hands down.
18:47Right hook to the head by
18:48Schellier who has the damage
18:51on the left eyelid.
18:52Oh another straight right hand
18:53by Schellier.
18:54Counterpunch though by Collins
18:56but a glancing blow.
18:57This is to.
18:58This is what Collins wants.
18:59He wants this guy to come
19:00in to fight.
19:01I mean as he gets warmed up
19:03to the to the attack he's
19:04going to be doing more than
19:05going to be doing more than
19:06nailing is Collins Sally already
19:08missing and getting hit and
19:09counter so he's never been down
19:11in his career he's been stopped
19:12three times Collins almost walked
19:14into a heavy right by so yeah and
19:16you wonder if he hadn't been
19:17stopped maybe on cuts because he
19:18seemed to cut pretty easily pretty
19:20quickly the action hitting up now
19:23is the crowd getting behind
19:24Collins but so yeah the one
19:27coming forward Stanley has come
19:31here to win the title he didn't
19:32come here and experiment just
19:33say it's obvious to me he came
19:35here to fight and Collins losing
19:37his balance momentarily
19:38Collins stumbling nearly in the
19:44celliers corner
19:45or a combination by college just
19:49we will follow so yeah into the
19:53corner our translators battery
19:55landed
19:55oh not the Papa to play a vision
19:59you know
20:00I'm not going to go to the right
20:05just put your right forward
20:07he's not going to beat you
20:08you're going to win you've got to
20:10lift your right you've got to go
20:11to the right put your right
20:12forward
20:13don't don't worry about it don't
20:16don't give in you're going to win
20:18why aren't you fighting back to him
20:20you'll get him
20:21you'll get him
20:22he's trying to get to you but you'll get there
20:32you move with the right
20:33go for it go for it you'll get there don't worry you'll get there go for it you're going to win
20:45you'll get there don't worry you'll get there don't worry
20:50thanks Valerie the newt rock the speech in the corner from trainer al-airuoco to frederick shellier
20:56that bad gash over shellier's left eye was open about a minute five and around two
21:03and let's see what they've done with it
21:04they just bang heads and referee joe cortez warned him to watch the head both fighters so that may very well have been an accidental hit but
21:13and here's college
21:15holland's throwing bombs those are blockbusters he's throwing there
21:21look at the redness around the left eye of cellier but it doesn't seem to be bothering him he just continues to press
21:27coming forward
21:28and collins has to counter
21:30I wonder what's going through the mind of a boxer that hears the pep speech like that at the end of you say yeah
21:34but how's my cut you know me doctor tell me about the cut
21:37I'm I've never been cut for any so I'm fortunate to not have been in that position but I know you would have to worry about
21:42something like that especially if you had a game plan as we talk tomorrow that he was going to go to a decision he's going to need time
21:48yeah he's just lost that option with this cut that bad he lost that option this cut is all the way across
21:55it's not deep yet
21:57but it's going to get there
21:58we know we talked about it earlier cellier is very durable
22:02he hasn't been down as we said this is second world title shot and he's come from France and he's so far
22:10making the most of it
22:12see if you watch as he faces off of Collins Collins is a little more sideways left shoulder
22:16front right shoulder back say he's more squared off there's no way he can generate the power there's no torque there's no turn
22:23there's no way to deliver big bombs at the right hand but he's quick and sneaky with
22:28so yeah forty three six and three he's got twenty nine knockouts the former European champ
22:33five and oh since that loss to Lyles in ninety five
22:42here comes Paul is again looking to go to the body as he told us he would now he goes upstairs
22:46and so you stands right in
22:49Collins fighting with a lot of confidence he's fighting with the confidence of a guy who's already looking beyond this to Roy Jones I mean he's looking for
22:56hey I gotta get through with this tonight then I go to the big one
23:01one of the problems with the stand-up style let's say he has is that he not only makes a bigger target
23:06but the target's already up in the air which is where you try and get it with the jabs and the uppercuts etc
23:11before you maybe deliver the boom
23:13yeah when his head is up there like that you don't have to work work him up there it's there already
23:18and he doesn't move it you know it's not like you move side to side jinx or does anything to avoid it he's just standing there
23:24right-hand counter round but we approach 20 seconds remaining in round three
23:33the cut seemingly under control
23:37it hasn't been a hindrance here in round three
23:43in fact the punches seem to have wiped some of it clean
23:47punches from Collins doing
23:49the right hand
23:50you're doing it
23:51ok
23:56ok
24:01ok
24:03ok
24:04ok
24:05ok
24:06ok
24:10ok
24:11ok
24:12ok
24:13ok
24:14You go into the right hand, you lean into the right hand and lift him a little bit too
24:18long.
24:19Alright?
24:20It's a little bit too slow.
24:21You're tight with it, okay?
24:22Steve, when he jabs, I want you to break in and go with a double left hook to the body.
24:25Okay.
24:26And then back with the head.
24:27The left hook's a shot.
24:28He's walking right into the left hook.
24:29Okay?
24:30Now, when he jabs, break in, double left hook to the body, back to the head.
24:33Okay.
24:34Alright, son?
24:35Alright?
24:36Godiva.
24:37Okay, now you're a little bit tight with that right hand, a little bit too long with
24:38you.
24:39Too anxious, okay?
24:40Sure enough, a little bit.
24:41Okay?
24:42You can double left hook to the body, throw into the head, okay?
24:44You'll take him out with that shot now.
24:45Alright, let's go.
24:46Round four.
24:47Well, it looks like a couple of cuts have been open around Selye's left eye.
24:52Now, a couple are high up on his forehead.
24:55Just notice that as we enter round four.
24:58Yeah, I think those are insignificant, though, compared to what he's got inside.
25:03And those are probably from headbutts.
25:04I believe so.
25:05The beginning of the third round started out with immediately a clash of heads.
25:10Good punches landed by Selye is now.
25:13He did.
25:14He landed a great one.
25:15He caught, uh, caught Selye looking.
25:17Yeah, he caught Collins right in the confidence.
25:19I mean, he's coming in like, oh, I'm another one of those.
25:21And he got shot with a right hand.
25:25Selye complaining to Joe Cortez about those, uh, shots to the top of the head, back of the
25:32head, headbutting, all that stuff.
25:35He's just tired of all the, uh, the banging he's getting on his head.
25:39Punches to the top of the head, believe it or not, Steve, are legal.
25:42But they do hurt like the dickens.
25:44They are very painful.
25:45But you know that it's hard to see that much of headbutting that's going on right now.
25:49I've seen a couple clean ones.
25:50Uh-oh.
25:51Selye stepped right into one by Collins.
25:53A straight right hand by Collins, but he continues to come forward despite that.
25:58Oh, top body shot, right uppercut short by Collins.
26:02That got Selye's attention.
26:05Collins came out very early in the round.
26:07The first thing he threw was a left hook and a right hand to the body.
26:09He is keeping his mind on that body.
26:11Boy, the left side of Selye's face is becoming a bloody mess.
26:16But yet, undaunted, he rips through with a right uppercut to the chin of Collins.
26:20Collins with a very good jaw.
26:22Steel jaw.
26:23Combination by Collins, but not doing damage.
26:36So he was waiting for it.
26:38Collins again, digging in.
26:40Selye counters.
26:45The head's becoming a big factor here as they continue to clash.
26:51You notice his feet to his feet aren't really under him when he punches to get any real drive or any real pop to his punches.
26:59He has to use his speed and his timing to create the power.
27:02He falls over himself.
27:03He steps around.
27:04Very, very confusing to watch.
27:06Selye now staying out of the range, trying to, of Steve Collins, keeping his distance a little more.
27:12Not as much infighting.
27:13See how it continues.
27:16Measuring comments out, digging straight left into the midsection by Selye.
27:31Collins is just so much heavier handed there.
27:33You say that the punches just wreak all sorts of havoc on his body, his arms, his chin, and it's going to take its toll as the rounds go by.
27:40Bobby, can you imagine what Collins would have done had he landed the shot he landed when this guy bounced off the ropes just then?
27:46He bounced off the ropes right into his shot and missed.
27:49Our translator again, Valerie Landon, in the French corner.
27:55Don't worry, you've got to move your right, you've got to move around.
28:02You've just stopped doing it, but we've been telling you.
28:05You've got to listen to us.
28:09He's not speaking for the moment, they're just mopping his head.
28:14You've got to stop fighting in that way.
28:19You've got to move around.
28:21You've got to move, put your right side forward and you've got to go with the right.
28:26You've got to move behind his attack.
28:32You've got to get in when he's attacking.
28:34You've got to get in under his attack.
28:36That's what you've got to try and do.
28:38You've got to move around and try and get in under his attack.
28:42All right, thanks again, Valerie.
28:47They obviously want Sellier to throw the right more.
28:50That's his bread and butter punch.
28:52In round four, Collins connected more often to a flat-footed Frederick Sellier.
28:57We'll see if Sellier indeed moves around more too,
29:00shows a little more mobility as they want in that corner.
29:05Round five.
29:06Now I find it interesting that they want him to move to the right.
29:09In natural, Salpo would normally move to right,
29:11but a natural orthodox fighter normally moves more slowly to the left.
29:19Good exchange here, but Collins getting the better.
29:23The crowd reacting to anything that Collins does, even if he hits air.
29:30And Collins landing with a combination.
29:32Collins is using a good jab, too.
29:34It's a stiff jab.
29:35It's what I call a shotgun jab.
29:36He's pumping out a jab with power on it.
29:38And Collins is now going headhunting on Sellier.
29:40It looks like he's stepping up.
29:42He's stepping up the combat now.
29:44Looks like he's done his softening up.
29:45It's time to go.
29:47The pace quickens.
29:49And it favors Steve Collins, who is dictating the tempo.
29:52He is taking it to Sellier here in round five.
29:56And back comes Sellier with the left jab.
29:58I don't know how much more of those solid shots Sellier is going to take, but he is getting some good soul.
30:07It's the power and the strength of Steve Collins making a huge difference right now.
30:13Not the experience.
30:14The power and the strength.
30:15And both are throwing bombs, but both missing in that last week.
30:18He seems a little more comfortable, Steve, at this weight than he did at 160.
30:20He seems a little more short himself.
30:21As he runs into a couple shots there.
30:22He holds a pretty decent pace.
30:23He's got a nice height.
30:24Six foot.
30:25One day I did notice the only has 67 is reach like myself.
30:29He has what I'm not sure if that's the weight or that.
30:32You get the more experience you get at 60.
30:33He wasn't that experience right now.
30:34He is.
30:36He lost to Reggie Johnson.
30:37Here right WBA title.
30:38To all of the fighters.
30:50He lost some very good, all by decision.
30:52All by decision.
30:53He's here for the long haul.
30:54We did that fight at the metal
30:55answer.
30:56Jersey and Steve Collins said
30:57that's a long time ago.
30:58I'm a different fighter today.
30:59And he is looking at the blood.
31:02Yep.
31:03No, no.
31:04He's going to the wrong corner.
31:05No.
31:06Joe Cortez wants the right side
31:07position to take a look at that
31:09cut.
31:10I'd sell you.
31:11It's nasty in it.
31:12Yeah.
31:13Telling himself.
31:14Look at the glove like this is
31:16another one.
31:17That's it.
31:18That's it.
31:19That's it.
31:20That's it.
31:21It's over.
31:24Mercifully so.
31:25Mercifully so.
31:26He should have not complained.
31:28It didn't appear that he had a
31:29chance to win this fight.
31:30Steve Collins was gaining
31:31momentum.
31:32He was landing better shots.
31:33The blood was starting to
31:34stretch.
31:35The cuts were getting worse.
31:36He lost everyone.
31:37I think certainly not a not a
31:40lot of pop for his money.
31:42He had he should have been
31:43given a little more
31:44opportunity if the cuts weren't
31:45really serious.
31:46But I'm not a doctor so we have
31:47to defer to his experience.
31:48Yeah.
31:49I think that you know the cuts
31:51are not going to get better
31:52there and he's getting a
31:53hammering and he's lost every
31:54round and it's it's a you know
31:56he said he doesn't need to go
31:57find out how big the cuts are
31:59going to open.
32:00Enough enough.
32:01So the fight is stopped here
32:02in round number five on the
32:03cut.
32:05On the face of Frederick
32:07Chelye Steve Collins
32:08receiving the congratulations
32:09from the ringside observers.
32:10Irish Steve pretending his
32:11WBO super middleweight
32:12championship his sixth
32:13defense of the title.
32:14A belt he has held since March
32:16of nineteen ninety five.
32:17The very popular Collins
32:18approving his record at thirty
32:19five and three now twenty
32:21knockouts or nineteen knockouts
32:22four four.
32:23So yeah falls to forty three
32:24seven and three.
32:25The question now is who's
32:26next.
32:27As mentioned before the heavy
32:28speculation that Collins
32:29will take on WBA super
32:30middleweight champion.
32:32Frankie Lyles in a title
32:33unification.
32:34We'll have to take on the
32:35WBO super middleweight
32:36championship his sixth
32:37defense of the title.
32:38A belt he has held since
32:39March of nineteen ninety
32:40two.
32:41I mean the the obsession that
32:54he has is hard to put
32:55together as we take a look at
32:58the current super middleweight
32:59champions.
33:00Frankie Lyles will fight
33:01Segundo Mercado February 22nd
33:03in Fort Lauderdale.
33:04Jones wants to move up to
33:06light heavyweight and fight
33:07Virgil Hill.
33:08The most intriguing matchup
33:09may be Jones versus Lyles but
33:11Jones seems bored at one sixty
33:12eight.
33:13And the most likely best
33:14scenario is you also see
33:15Robin Reed who was victorious
33:17earlier tonight over Giovanni
33:18Pretorius would be an
33:20eventual fight between Lyles
33:21and Collins to unify the WBA
33:23and WBO titles.
33:24That seems to be the most
33:25likely scenario developing.
33:27And there he is.
33:28Irish Steve Collins being
33:30heisted into the air.
33:32He is victorious here this
33:34evening over Frenchman
33:36Frederick Sellier stopped on
33:38three cuts two twenty of the
33:40fifth round are unofficial
33:41time.
33:43Here's the announcement.
33:44We have the time of two
33:45minutes twenty seconds of
33:47round at number five.
33:49A referee in charge Joe
33:50Cortez stops the contest on
33:52advice to the ringside
33:53position.
33:54He's the winner by way of
33:55technical knockout still the
33:57WBO super middleweight champion
33:59of the world.
34:00The Celtic warrior Irish Steve
34:01Collins.
34:02The man with the shine rocks
34:06carved into the sides of his
34:07head.
34:08Irish Steve Collins.
34:09He told us he really wants
34:10Roy Jones.
34:11Wondering if a fight with Lyles
34:12would be box office.
34:14And if that doesn't happen.
34:15Collins told us he'll move up
34:16to light heavy and go after
34:18Virgil Hill just like Jones
34:19said he wants to do and is
34:20trying to do.
34:21But he told us his dream goal
34:23is to go back to Boston fight
34:25Roy Jones.
34:26And a nice round of applause for
34:27the challenger Frederick
34:29Shalyer who despite the defeat.
34:45It was outclassed obviously by
34:46Steve Collins.
34:48But had to have this fight stop
34:50on on nasty cuts.
34:53So.
34:54on on nasty cuts so coming up
35:00next our main event the battle
35:02to unify the IVF and WBO
35:04featherweight championships
35:05England's Prince Nassim Ahmed
35:07versus America's longtime
35:09champion Tom Boom Boom Johnson
35:11both very anxious to get it on
35:14the cocky outspoken Hamed
35:15predicting a knockout by three
35:17rounds keep in mind Johnson
35:19usually gets stronger as the
35:21fight gets longer but have the
35:23speed on the stage and pounding
35:25caught up can he handle the
35:26speed and power of the younger
35:27Hamed will the experience factor
35:31benefit Johnson can the elusive
35:34Hamed take a hit will he get hit
35:36all these questions soon to be
35:38answered a little bit later
35:39tonight as the big showdown
35:41approaches between Prince Nassim
35:43Hamed and Tom Boom Boom Johnson
35:48Irish Steve Collins making an
35:54announcement he gave me since I
35:56came to Britain you've taken me you've
35:57adopted me as one of your own I feel
35:59like Jack Chariton over here thanks
36:00very much thank you
36:01the crowd for adopting him adopted
36:17son of England from Dublin Ireland
36:20and he receives a real nice round
36:23of applause from the the loving
36:25fans and here's a shot of our
36:28colleagues at B Sky B TV oh we can
36:32hear it too as they interview Irish
36:34Steve
36:34we're gonna take a look at the cut
36:47or at least where we think the cut
36:49showed up in round two it appeared
36:51to be some blows Collins was landing
36:52some nice right hands and that the
36:54area right hand would land here's
36:56here counter right hand it's right on
36:58the eye and once again you'll see
37:01somewhere along the way if we have
37:04there you see him wipe his hand
37:05that's what I was talking about
37:06earlier he wipes his hand across his
37:07eye as if he feels some moisture
37:09there are some cuts and as it turns
37:12out it was a cut and wound up being
37:14stopped on that cut certainly an
37:16unfortunate thing but he wasn't
37:17winning the fight anyway it's another
37:20overhead look at it just a counter right
37:22hand it just landed clean it wasn't
37:24a big shot it wasn't even that quick
37:26a shot almost a grazing shot but it
37:29landed on the skin just so that it
37:31caused a cut and the challenger goes
37:32down on cuts well the fight doctor
37:36is standing by we're going to throw
37:38it over to a moment Charlie with the
37:40referee Joe Cortez who stopped the
37:43fight birdie Joe Cortez you stopped
37:48the fight right me on a cut tell me
37:49when you thought the cut happened
37:50well he got caught with a with a
37:52right hand and there was some
37:54accidental help but he was already
37:56cut and what do you mean he was
37:58already cut well here in the first
37:59round oh yeah he was kind of first
38:00round yeah in the first I call it
38:01out in the second right it was a minor
38:03cut not serious and I as a matter of
38:05fact I even told the commission here
38:07was the cut due to headbutt no no no
38:09no it was definitely definitely a
38:10right-hand punch yeah matter of fact I
38:12even told the commission right after the
38:13first round I went over to the table
38:15and told them that that cut was
38:16produced by a legal punch describe to us
38:18how bad the cut was that made you think
38:20of stopping well I think the worst cut
38:22was the one on the nose a severe cut
38:24under the medical advice for the safety
38:26of the fighter he suggested we stopped
38:27and we we did the appropriate thing and
38:29stopped me right was any of that the
38:31fact that he was taking a good chill
38:32acting over well you know well let me
38:34tell you that I had a lot to do with it
38:35also you know I mean but the cup was
38:37very severe a very very deep cut on the
38:39bridge of the nose and he had a cut on the
38:41and a left eyebrow it was pretty bad
38:44thank you very much as usual a very
38:46good job thank you and and let's get
38:48into the champion Steve Collins you
38:50can't uh can't do better than you said
38:51you were going to do you said you were
38:53going to punish the lout to the stomach
38:54until he felt it and I think you did
38:56everybody asked the question was I
38:57motivated for this fight having taken
38:59on people like you bank and Ben and
39:00twice before the best out there it was a
39:02little hard to get motivated for this
39:03fight but I felt confident I knew all
39:06I had to do was get out was I didn't
39:07much a time before I caught up with him
39:08after four rounds Freddie Rose said to me
39:11Steve Steffi geared up and finished
39:12this guy he went down the fifth round

39:20the heart the job was it was a key
39:22punch tonight we didn't expect the job
39:24to work so well against a tall guy but
39:26a good hard job and I think the job
39:27busted his the bridge of his nose did
39:29you feel that his head was standing I
39:31mean you know he didn't attempt to you
39:32know he's standing there like a golf ball
