Fourteen students from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) and a bus attendant were among the identified victims killed after the bus they were travelling in collided with another vehicle along the East-West Highway around 1am on Monday (June 9).

00:19The crash occurred around 1 a.m. as both vehicles were traveling from Jeli toward Garik.
00:26The bus overturned while the other vehicle veered into a ditch.
00:31Perak Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Operations Director Sabarodzi Noor Ahmad said a distress call was received at 1.04 a.m.
00:41At least 15 people have been confirmed dead, with 31 others suffering various injuries.
00:47The bus was carrying 42 students along with a driver and attendant.
00:51Some passengers managed to exit on their own, others were thrown from the vehicle, but many remained trapped inside.
01:00Rescue teams used hydraulic cutting equipment to break through the rear of the bus, where they discovered six additional victims.
01:08The other vehicle was carrying a family of four, three of whom sustained minor injuries and one had a broken arm.
01:15The deceased were handed over to the police for further action, while the injured have been transported to nearby hospitals.
01:23Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has instructed the Higher Education Ministry to coordinate appropriate assistance for the students' families.
