00:00A 26-year-old woman has died following a shooting on Christmas Eve.
00:06Her devastated family are inconsolable and heartbroken.
00:09Dad, it's early.
00:12You need to go to the hospital.
00:14Someone said she'd been shot.
00:17Not my daughter.
00:20You can't begin to process exactly what's gone on.
00:25You know, you haven't even begun to grieve.
00:27You haven't had a chance.
00:29She's still thinking she's going to come in.
00:31She's going to walk through that door.
00:35I was drinking heavily.
00:37It was going to kill me.
00:39I just felt it was better for me to not be here.
00:43Well, then John May had suddenly appeared into my life.
00:48I was stuck.
00:50I'd created a prison for myself.
00:53And I thought, 1,000 miles should do the trick.
00:56He mentioned that he was doing this walk.
00:58And he said to me, do you mind if I join you on the walk?
01:04And that's exactly what I did.
01:06My coach got out of time.
01:08So he'd come for a couple of days and there was no sign of him going home.
01:12It took my mind away from what had been going on and I broke that cycle of the drink, depression and that world of hell.
01:22Instead of seeing him as a grieving father, I see him as just Tim.
01:27We were just two diffies bumbling along in the countryside.

01:35It was about Ellie.
01:37It was about keeping her name alive.
01:39We were going to walk into Liverpool and we said if anyone wants to join us, they can.
01:45The clouds seemed to just grow.
01:47And I marched into that city with pride.
01:49I was proud.
01:51Me and John were scared 24 hours a day until it was always inevitable that I was going to crash.
01:59I wanted to kill him.
02:01I hated him.
02:02You do your thing, I'll do mine.

02:07That's the lowest I've ever been.
02:09I was going to end my life with it.
02:12I could see my girl standing in front of me.
