00:40Let me share some thoughts about three topics.

00:44Trade, immigration,

00:46and finally the wall that Donald Trump plans to build.

00:50I'll start by trade.

00:52It has been said that NAFTA,

00:54the North American Trade Agreement,

00:56has been a one-sided deal

00:58with massive numbers of jobs and companies

01:01lost for the United States.

01:03And that Mexico has taken advantage of the U.S.

01:07because of massive trade deficits.

01:09But let me try to explain

01:12why I am absolutely convinced

01:14that that's not true.

01:16A few days ago on February 13th,

01:19the six American ambassadors to Mexico

01:22from 1989 to 2015,

01:26from both Democratic and Republican administrations,

01:30published an article on the Washington Post

01:33about how the relationship with Mexico

01:36is strategic to U.S. interests.

01:39Regarding the North America Trade Agreement,

01:43they stated that the value of the two-way trade

01:46has grown six-fold since the agreement entered into force in 1994,

01:53reaching $584 billion in 2015.

01:58They also explained that Mexico is now the second largest market for U.S. exports,

02:06larger than the U.S. exports to China, Japan, and Germany combined.

02:12Now, what about jobs?

02:15It's an undeniable fact that some manufacturing jobs

02:20have been lost to Mexico.

02:22We all have read news regarding shifting production south of the border.

02:27But these stories paint just part of the picture.

02:31A very incomplete one, by the way.
