00:00In 1845, two Royal Navy ships set sail from England in an attempt to finally discover a navigable passage through the Arctic.
00:08They're the most technologically advanced ships of their time.
00:11But after entering the Arctic labyrinth, both ships disappear.
00:14Just before disappearing, European whalers entering the Arctic notice them.
00:19For years after their disappearance, an Inuit man tells a search party that he encountered the captain of one of the ships.
00:25The Inuit man says the captain pointed south and said they needed to return home.
00:30But they could barely walk.
00:31The man then says that a creature called Tombac, which eats anything that has legs, is following them.
00:37The captain had a message for anyone searching for them.
00:40There is no way to cross the Arctic and they should return as both ships are gone.
00:44The man shows the captain's buttons as proof of a story.
00:47So what happened to the ships?
00:49To answer that question, we must go back four years when the ships were peacefully sailing through the Arctic.
00:54The HMS Terror, led by Captain Francis, and the HMS Aerobus, led by Commander John, who is also the leader of the expedition, were on their way despite some navigational challenges.
01:05John and Commander James, the first officer of Aerobus, joined Francis aboard the Terror for dinner.
01:11During the meal, a young sailor suddenly coughs up blood and the crew rushes to help.

01:27Sending you many blessings and a huge thank you.
01:30The channel keeps growing and very soon we'll be able to connect even more through the new membership feature.
01:36But we'll talk more about that later.
01:38For now, let's jump back into the story.
01:40In the morning, they take him back to the Aerobus, but later that day, the ship is struck by ice, causing a crew member to fall to the ground and die that night.
01:49The young sailor's condition worsens.
01:51He claims to see a figure that no one else can see and dies suddenly, with no visible wounds.
01:57Assistant Doctor Harry reports this to the Chief Doctor, but he dismisses it as a hallucination before the next death.
02:03Aerobus faces problems after yesterday's encounter with the ice that damaged its propeller.
02:08A novice diver, young and nervous, is chosen to inspect and clear the obstruction.
02:14While working under the icy waters, he discovers the lifeless body of a drowned sailor.
02:19Panicking, he signals to be pulled up and is brought back to the surface.
02:23Shaken, he reports that the propeller damage was fixed, but keeps his discovery to himself.
02:28Meanwhile, the doctors complete the autopsy of the deceased sailor, but do not find the cause of death.
02:33After that, John summons Francis and his terror officers to discuss how to continue the journey.
02:39Aerobus can only operate at half power, which could leave them stranded during the Arctic winter.
02:44Francis warns that they are not dealing with typical ice flows, but with a massive ice field aggravated by the coldest Arctic winter he has observed.
02:52He proposes transferring fuel from Aerobus to terror and consolidating resources.
02:58However, John refuses to abandon any of the ships, trusting that he can break through.
03:02He decides that terror will lead to break the heavy ice while Aerobus follows.
03:07Later, the ships become trapped in an impenetrable ice field for six days.
03:12The crew struggles to free themselves, but the ice holds firm.
03:15Despite many attempts to break it, John finally realizes there is no way out and orders preparation for the long winter ahead.
03:22After eight months, the engines have been maintained throughout the winter and are ready to restart as soon as the ice begins to melt.
03:29To explore a navigable route, John orders three teams of sailors to venture into the icy landscape in every direction.
03:37Each team, led by experienced members, heads in different directions, dragging heavy lifeboats across the ice.
03:43After three days of travel, one of the search groups encounters a towering ice wall and detects a distant pile of stones.
03:51Graham, the first lieutenant of HMS Aerobus, leads the group towards it.
03:55They discover it is a structure that Graham speculates might have been left by the Inuit.
04:00When the team returns to their lifeboats, they find their supplies overturned and destroyed.
04:05The destruction is so severe that neither humans nor polar bears seem capable of causing it.
04:11That night, a violent thunderstorm erupts.
04:14Meanwhile, near the ships, Graham and a companion return to the camp and report no significant discoveries.
04:20Shortly after, the group hears movement on the ice and assumes it is a polar bear.
04:26They grab their weapons and shoot at a dark figure.
04:29Upon investigating, they discover they have shot an Inuit.
04:33An older woman appears and begins speaking in a language they do not understand.
04:37Moments later, a huge creature with white fur attacks and kills Graham before disappearing into the storm.
04:43Then, the wounded Inuit is taken aboard HMS Aerobus but succumbs to his injuries.
04:48Harry reports finding huge footprints near the scene where Graham disappeared with no trace of Graham's body.
04:54It also reveals that the old man's tongue had been cut out, although he cannot explain why.
04:59Frances, who speaks the Inuit language from his previous expeditions, speaks with a woman.
05:04She warns Frances and the crew to leave the area immediately or they will disappear.
05:09The Inuit woman sets up camp near the fleet instead of abandoning the area completely.
05:14John announces a funeral for Graham and promises to capture the creature responsible for his death.
05:21Then, Frances proposes sending a rescue team south to seek help, estimating a three-month journey to the nearest British outpost.
05:28But John refuses.
05:30A few days later, John visits the soldier's task of hunting the creature.
05:34Soon, the creature attacks and kills a soldier instantly.
05:38John panics and flees, but the creature grabs him and drags him into the hole in the ice where the old man's body was disposed of.
05:46The crew arrives too late and finds only John's severed leg in a trail of footprints leading to the ice.
05:52With John missing, Frances takes command of the expedition and decides to officially implement the rescue plan.
05:58However, he plans to stay with the fleet to maintain order, assigning others to lead the rescue team.
06:03During John's funeral, the Inuit woman is in her igloo when she hears a growl outside.
06:09Cautiously stepping out, she finds a seal carcass left in front of her by the mysterious creature.
06:15It seems that the being is not an ordinary bloodthirsty predator, but an intelligent creature possibly helping the Inuit.
06:21Aboard the Erebus, Harry examines photos of the victims of the recent attacks and notices claw-like wounds that do not resemble any known predator.
06:29Then a scream is heard on deck, and Frances rushes to find a seriously wounded soldier, whose cap has been torn off in an attack from the side of the ship.
06:38Another crew member reports that the creature took a man and his screams echo across the ice.
06:43Frances leads a search party and recovers the body of the missing man.
06:47However, while they are there, the creature returns and attacks again, killing a young crew member accompanying Frances.
06:53Meanwhile, a crew member named Hickey sees the Inuit woman interacting with the creature.
06:59Without authorization, he and two other men capture her and bring her aboard.
07:03They accuse her of communicating with the beast and conspiring to kill them.
07:07Hickey claims that the creature is three times the size of a polar bear.
07:12However, Frances does not tolerate insubordination or disrespect and sentences the men to lashings for abandoning their posts and acting without orders.
07:20In the morning, James brings the Inuit woman aboard the aerobus and instructs the medical officer to ensure she is treated well.
07:28Harry is tasked with offering her food, attempting to build trust and learn her language.
07:33But the attacks continue, leaving multiple bodies to investigate.
07:36The results are shocking.
07:38The bodies show signs of being composed of parts from two different creatures, with sharp cuts resembling claw marks.
07:44However, no human or polar bear reports indicate that the creature has been circling the HMS terror, displaying an intelligence beyond that of any known animal.
07:54Then, Harry takes the Inuit woman to the terror for further investigation of her language.
07:59After another month, Frances grows impatient and meets with his officers Thomas and Edward.
08:04With the Inuit woman present, Frances demands to know more about the creature.
08:09The woman calls it tombak, meaning evil spirit.
08:11She explains that the creature no longer serves anyone.
08:16When Frances demands to know how to kill it, the woman does not offer a direct answer and appears as fearful as the crew.
08:22Frances, frustrated, threatens to throw her off the ship if she refuses to cooperate.
08:27The woman calmly responds, saying that even if she could help, Frances would not accept it because he only wishes to die with the creature.
08:35After a while, Thomas goes up to the deck to inspect the ice, but he is suddenly attacked by the creature.
08:40Thomas sends his men to prepare for an attack, while he lures the creature to a high position.
08:46The creature scratches his leg with its large claws.
08:49Thomas then sets the creature on fire so the crew on the ground can see it better.
08:54Once they have their target, the crew shoots the creature, wounding it and causing it to fall onto the ice below.
08:59But when they search for it, they only find traces of blood leading away as the creature roars in the distance.
09:05Amid the chaos, the Inuit woman disappears.
09:08The crew carries Thomas inside, only to realize they must amputate his leg to save him.
09:14Later, Frances calls his officers and reveals that he is falling ill.
09:18He appoints Edward to lead the terror and James to oversee the entire expedition.
09:23After a few weeks, the crew's condition stabilizes with no attacks from the creature since it was shot.
09:28Meanwhile, in the frozen wilderness, the Inuit woman who had previously escaped struggles to survive alone.
09:35She builds an altar using Seal's corpse and begins a ritual.
09:39When she feels the creature approaching, she begs it to accept her as a replacement for her deceased father.
09:45She explains that the creature cannot go without a shaman for very long.
09:48Finally, she uses a knife to cut her tongue, ending up tongueless like her father.
09:53Meanwhile, James plans to abandon both ships and lead the expedition on foot as food and resources are running out.
10:00Before announcing his plan, he organizes a carnival to celebrate the first sunrise and everyone pretends to be joyful.
10:07Meanwhile, Harry discovers that the canned food they're consuming is affecting everyone's mental health as it is poisoned with lead.
10:14He informs the head doctor, Stephen, who is clearly also affected.
10:18Harry wants to tell the captains about the canned food, but Stephen dismisses him.
10:22Harry's concerns are left for him to think about until the next ceremony.
10:26Francis learns about James' plan and addresses the entire crew, urging them to prepare for the journey on foot.
10:33As the group listens attentively, Stephen loses control, spilling alcohol everywhere and sealing the exits.
10:39Meanwhile, the Inuit girl, now without a tongue, arrives at the camp seeking help from the doctor.
10:45While Francis continues his speech, she reaches the camp, and Harry begins to assist her.
10:50At the same time, Stephen sets the gathering on fire and ignites himself as well.
10:55The fire spreads quickly, claiming numerous lives.
10:59Some survivors manage to escape the tent, but many remain trapped inside.
11:03A man outside tries to open the tent, but accidentally stabs the medical assistant in the process.
11:08The devastating fire kills both head doctors and leaves only Harry alive, burdening him with the treatment of the wounded.
11:16After this tragedy, the crew prepares to set off on foot, leaving some behind on the ship in case the ice melts.
11:22They begin their journey, but along the way, Hickey forms his own group of soldiers and sailors,
11:28believing that the food supply is insufficient for everyone.
11:31To make matters worse, Hickey kills one of the lieutenant commanders after discovering the local Inuit in the area and kills them too.
11:37When his mutiny is discovered, Francis acts cautiously to capture Hickey without his men acting to defend him.
11:45Hickey is then captured and sentenced to death, just as he is about to be hanged.
11:49The creature attacks, killing more crew members.
11:51Hickey uses the chaos to escape, kidnapping Harry, the only remaining doctor.
11:56The soldiers fire a cannon at the creature, but fail to wound it enough to stop it.
12:01The sergeant watches as the creature takes a soldier's soul, turning him into a spiritually enraged beast.
12:07After the chaos, Francis decides to burn the corpses because the crew lacks the time and energy to bury them.
12:13Once the bodies are burned, the crew continues their journey, pulling a boat full of supplies.
12:19Suddenly, James collapses and must be carried in the boat with the other sick crew members.
12:24Meanwhile, in Hickey's group, one of his men falls ill.
12:27After Harry examines him, he tells Hickey that the man's death is imminent.
12:31In response, Hickey kills the man on the spot, showing that there is no tolerance for weakness.
12:36Next, Francis' team sets up camp to rest and discuss their dwindling food supply.
12:41Edward suggests leaving the sick behind and returning for them later if supplies are found,
12:46but Francis refuses and insists that they will not abandon anyone and will survive as a team.
12:51Meanwhile, the Inuit girl finds her settlement, where the elders tell her that the creature is now her responsibility as the new shaman.
12:58Back at Francis' camp, James' condition worsens, and he begs Francis to end his suffering.
13:04Reluctantly, Francis gives him poison that allows him to die in peace.
13:08In the morning, they bury James, and the scouts report to Francis that the creature is following them.
13:14Then, Thomas volunteers to distract the creature and create a diversion, although Francis objects.
13:20Thomas reminds him that with only one leg, he is no longer useful to the crew.
13:24Thomas heads off in another direction.
13:26After a few days, he reaches the shore and discovers that the snow is melting.
13:31He documents his findings and hopes that they will help the others survive.
13:35Meanwhile, in Hickey's group, they are running out of food and resort to eating the deceased crew members.
13:40Later, the sergeant who saw the creature take a soldier's soul describes a horrifying experience,
13:46discovering that the creature is not hunting them just for food.
13:49A few days later, it is revealed that one of Francis' scouts is a spy for Hickey and leads Francis' group into a trap.
13:56Hickey's men ambush them, kill one of Francis' men, and capture the others.
14:01Meanwhile, Thomas, whose body is tied with ropes, is found by the creature and awaits his inevitable fate.
14:07At the camp, Edward calls a meeting to plan a rescue for Francis and to punish the mutineers.
14:12However, the crew has already voted to continue moving south, leaving the sick behind to die.
14:19At Hickey's camp, Harry tends to Francis' wounds and reveals that one of his men has been killed and eaten.
14:24Together, they assess Hickey's numbers and weapons.
14:27Then, Harry warns Francis to eat only the tough skin of the foot if he is forced to consume human flesh.
14:33At Hickey's camp, Francis confronts Hickey, who reveals his plan to capture the creature Tombaugh.
14:38Later, Harry poisons himself, and the next morning, Hickey's group unknowingly eats his body.
14:44This forces Francis to join under threat.
14:47Remembering Harry's advice, Francis eats a piece of meat from Harry's foot.
14:51After this, Hickey forces the crew to retreat.
14:54A lifeboat chains Francis and his allies.
14:57Hickey reveals that he has no intention of returning to England.
15:00Those who eat the doctor's meat begin to show signs of poisoning,
15:03and Francis realizes that Harry sacrificed himself to stop Hickey.
15:07Hickey then admits that he is an imposter who killed the real Hickey to join the expedition and star a new life.
15:13His plan ultimately fails and leaves him stranded in the Arctic for years.
15:17Hickey lures the creature, which kills the crew members one by one.
15:21Desperate, Hickey tries to bond with the creature like the Inuit girl did.
15:25He cuts off his tongue and offers it to the creature.
15:27However, the creature instantly kills him and then turns to attack Francis.
15:32But the wounds it suffered and the poison it consumed cause the creature to weaken.
15:37Finally, the crew takes down the creature and kills it.
15:40The Inuit girl finds Francis alive and frees him by cutting off his hand.
15:44On their way back, they pass by Hickey's camp and the remains of Dr. Harry.
15:49After a few days, Francis recovers and searches for Edward and other survivors.
15:53He finds a group dead, with Edward barely alive.
15:56After a brief reunion, Edward succumbs to his injuries, marking the tragic end of the expedition, with Francis as the sole survivor.
16:04Francis joins the Inuit tribe and learns the name of the woman, Silna.
16:09The tribe mourns the death of the Tambak, and it is revealed that Silna, as the new shaman, must leave the tribe.
16:15Francis tries to follow her, but the elders do not allow it.
16:19Back in England, a naval officer prepares to depart on a rescue mission for HMS Terror aboard HMS Airbus.
16:26For years after the expedition's departure, an Inuit man informs the elders that two strangers have arrived.
16:32Francis realizes it is the rescue team.
16:35The elder tells the naval officer Francis' story, as Francis had ordered him to do.
16:39Outside, Francis listens silently, as he has become part of their people and culture.
16:44In the end, Francis lives as an Inuit and forms his own family, thus ending the first season of this great series.
