00:00I don't think I really have the heart to tell him he's going to need a little bit more than just oil.
00:04Here's your relook at the McFarlane Toys, Twisted Land of Oz, The Tin Man.
00:15The McFarlane Monster series, Twisted Land of Oz, is a highly detailed limited edition release from McFarlane Toys
00:20based on the classic novel, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
00:23It features twisted alternate interpretations of the classic characters.
00:27Nothing a little bit of elbow grease I'm sure can't fix up.
00:30Before that, we get a closer look at the McFarlane Toys, Twisted Land of Oz, The Tin Man.
00:34Shall we perhaps take the tape measure and see how tall the figure stands?
00:37We shall.
00:38As we go ahead and do this right now, I've got, of course, the figure still on his display stand.
00:41That's probably the best way, especially for a spindly guy like this who's got a little bit loose in legs.
00:47Probably the best way to have the figure displayed.
00:49Tin Man, though, is going to stand at about 7 1⁄2 inches in height, maybe just a little bit more.
00:54That works out, though, to be a figure that's about 19 1⁄2 centimeters tall.
00:59Sliding in now, the Scarecrow, the previous character that we met on the way to see the Wizard.
01:03Now, whereas the Tin Man does have a little bit more better stability, Scarecrow had a better-looking design,
01:09but the design, honestly, just, I didn't think, translated well to a figure,
01:12especially when you always had to worry about things sort of falling off of him.
01:15As it is right now, I've kind of got all the crows attached properly, but if anybody coughs and sneezes the wrong way,
01:21I'm sure these will just fall right off.
01:24Prior to, of course, seeing the Scarecrow, we also met up with Dorothy Gale.
01:28Although Dorothy Gale, still blind and bound against her will, she's got herself a tiny little munchkin there as well,
01:33riding on top of a munchkin.
01:35The strange things you'll find in the twisted land of Oz.
01:38Not too strange of things come and clear with the Tin Man.
01:40The figure does have both his axe and his little canister of oil.
01:43Well, why don't we have a look at those things first,
01:45and then we'll kind of get to looking at the figure and, of course, his display stand.
01:50The little jar of oil, a knock on wood, has not broken off with the time that I've actually had all these figures
01:55sealed inside of their bagged prisons.
01:57The oil, maybe it may have had a little bit, maybe it was bent just a little bit,
02:01but the oil canister as a whole looks pretty good.
02:04It's got some age to it.
02:05It's got a little bit of yellow there added to the front.
02:07He could technically, in theory, hold on to this,
02:11as actually his claw opens and closes.
02:13Wait, it does?
02:14Yeah, it does.
02:16The figure does also come included with his axe.
02:19Now, I would recommend, if you're looking to get this figure displayed,
02:22if you probably already have this figure displayed, you already know,
02:24but if you're looking to pick this guy up,
02:26the axe would probably be best to go in this hand right here.
02:28He just has the...
02:29Hey, that held on better than I was hoping.
02:32He has the grip that's designed on this side really clearly is designed more for the axe.
02:36In fact, actually, let's go ahead and take the figure off his display stand.
02:39And because of the nature of the articulation that they actually packed into this figure,
02:43he has the most articulation from the Twisted Land of Oz figures,
02:47and we'll kind of talk more about that.
02:48The figure does also, of course, include the little cobblestone,
02:51the yellow brick road, of course.
02:53Let's get ourselves Dorothy Gale's display stand.
02:56I did want to show you guys again, like, it's not the exact same one.
03:00You could take, again, multiples of these.
03:02Obviously, if you have all the characters, you can attach them together.
03:05Now, you can attach it that way.
03:06You can also attach it this way as well.
03:09Yeah, makes sense.
03:10Makes sense, I hope.
03:11The pegs, just want to make sure I don't confuse the two.
03:14Was this Dorothy's?
03:15I think this was Dorothy's.
03:16This one actually is probably the most closest to looking like Dorothy's.
03:19The Scarecrow's was a little bit different.
03:21I'm not going to take the Scarecrow off his display stand.
03:24You know he's just going to fall.
03:25Of course, you've got yourself two pegs right there, here and here.
03:28That's going to plug onto the underside.
03:29Although he really doesn't have necessarily peg holes on both his feet.
03:32If you look at them, actually, he only has it on the one side.
03:35So, obviously, there's only one way that that's going to work.
03:39Hopefully, though, it's just stand still, stand still.
03:41But a nice looking display stand.
03:43Still, it's dated on the bottom.
03:44Hasn't changed at all.
03:45It's still 2003.
03:47So, what, 22 years ago that this line first came out.
03:50I don't think I bought it right when they came out.
03:53I probably bought it like a year or so later.
03:55So, I've actually had this in my collection for about 20 to 21 years.
03:59Despite that, though, and a few little hiccups along the way with Scarecrow more so,
04:03and Dorothy Gale losing her finger,
04:05I've actually done pretty well, I think, knock on wood, knock on metal,
04:08for actually these figures still staying relatively intact.
04:12Picking up, though, the Scarecrow.
04:13As mentioned, the figure does have an open and closed claw.
04:16How cool is that?
04:17What's neat, though, is that if you open up one side,
04:20it opens the other side as well.
04:22So, you don't actually have to keep holding,
04:24well, you don't have to grab both sides to open and close the claw.
04:26You can also, again, take yourself the little oil canister,
04:29fit that sort of around the finger area here.
04:32So, you can kind of hold it that way.
04:34Or you can also just go, again, the route of displaying it like that.
04:39Or I guess you could really just put it in between his claw like that.
04:44I think for me, I would rather just display it.
04:46So, it does actually look like he's doing as good of a job as he can with the claw,
04:50sort of just having it held like that.
04:52And, of course, I don't know, what would be the sound?
04:55Bloop, bloop, bloop, bloop.
04:56Would be the sound of oil.
04:57Stop that.
04:58The figure, again, will go ahead and take his axe.
05:00The axe just sort of fits into his hand.
05:02A lot easier.
05:03I was really surprised how quickly that fit into his hand.
05:05And then, of course, you can have the figure displayed that way.
05:09Let's take those all out now.
05:10I'll get the axe out first.
05:14Now, this is obviously 20-plus-year-old plastic.
05:17So, obviously, I would say I would tread cautiously.
05:19It didn't look like that for a second.
05:20I was really treading cautiously trying to remove the axe.
05:23Let's be careful about these things, shall we?
05:25For the head sculpt, though, of the Tin Man, everything on this guy has been rusted.
05:29What's kind of interesting, though, about him is he isn't just made of tin.
05:32He's actually made of corpse.
05:33Yeah.
05:34Tin Man actually is just a living, kind of dead corpse.
05:39I guess kept alive, basically, but all the things that are, like, mechanical on this figure.
05:43So, like, the head sculpt, I don't know why looking at this, it reminds me a little of Jason Voorhees.
05:48Maybe, perhaps, because, again, like, part of the mask is white.
05:50Got, like, the suggestions of chevrons on the sides.
05:54If you were to look, actually, underneath the mask, the mask isn't really removable.
05:58I guess you could technically pull that off.
06:00I don't think that would be probably a good idea.
06:02What you would be seeing, though, underneath is a decayed corpse.
06:05You can actually maybe even see if I get his arm out of the way.
06:08See, you can see, like, there's a corpse face underneath.
06:12It's got kind of two parts Jason Voorhees, one part Mad Max.
06:16That's a cool-looking Tin Man.
06:18What's also really neat about Tin Man, though, is there's a lot of movable joints on this guy.
06:22Far greater, though, than both Dorothy Gale and the Scarecrow.
06:26The fact that you can actually move his arms around, his elbows around, you can...
06:29Actually, this arm moves back and forth.
06:31But this arm, weird reasons.
06:32Again, this was one of those things that McFarlane was really known for doing.
06:35Even though it would have kind of the idea, okay, I can move his arm this way, right?
06:39I would be able to think, I'd expect, I'd be able to move it on this side.
06:42No, you can't.
06:43Only really one arm moves on this side.
06:45The other arm only moves by the elbow.
06:47There's some articulation here to the elbow area here.
06:50We're not really going to talk too much about that just yet.
06:53Leave it with me, because we're going to get to that in a second.
06:55And one thing that's kind of a cool feature, too, of the Tin Man is that you can open up
06:59his chest, sort of like the old fires.
07:02Not much really burning inside this fire.
07:04It looks like we've got ourselves a decayed heart, maybe a lung.
07:07What else is in there?
07:09Whatever it is, it's been dead long, long time ago.
07:12I think that's a really cool touch.
07:13And another neat touch, too, is if you look on the back of the figure, he's got himself
07:16a tank.
07:18Now, the tank, I guess, if you're looking at it, it looks like it's poison.
07:22Formaldehyde.
07:22Maybe there's something that's just keeping this guy alive.
07:24It's also running through a tube, so it's running from here all the way.
07:28Maybe it's just a...
07:29Well, I guess this would be attached to the back of his body.
07:32This looks like it's basically just being fed right into his torso.
07:35Maybe that's the thing that's keeping his heart beating.
07:38Is it beating?
07:40It's like Mr. Burns' heart.
07:43Remember when Mr. Burns fell in love and his heart just went...
07:45That's probably, I'm sure, what the Tin Man's doing right now.
07:49But that's a really cool feature, though.
07:51Overall, it's a really neatly sculpted figure.
07:53It's not symmetrical at all, either.
07:55He's got a kind of very Spawn-inspired, larger boot down below here.
07:59A little bit more narrower of a boot.
08:01But lots of cool colors are added to this.
08:03You've got some blues.
08:04You've got, again, some rusted, just browns and silvers added in there as well.
08:07Things that don't really make much sense.
08:09Not that I really know how to keep a living corpse alive.
08:12Well, a corpse, you know what?
08:13You get the idea.
08:15But unfortunately, though, some of the things that have suffered with Tin Man over the years
08:19is like overly developed loose legs.
08:22This leg, for example, is super, super loose.
08:25So if you are looking to get this guy loose, not loose with loose legs,
08:28but if you're looking by this guy loose out of the packaging,
08:31so we're going to just make sure, first of all, he has all of the accessories.
08:34You also want to really make sure that he does also have somewhat tight joints.
08:37Now, I'm sure I could probably go in there and tighten up the joint,
08:40make the leg a little bit tighter.
08:42Yeah, this one leg is pretty bad.
08:43The other leg isn't so bad.
08:44But you've got to keep in mind, again, like this guy's 20 years, 20 plus years.
08:49And even then, I've had him 20 plus years sitting inside of a bag.
08:52So he's had quite the ordeal.
08:54Hopefully now that I've given this guy a new light, given a new review,
08:58maybe you never know.
08:58I might actually have these guys now on display.
09:01For the Tin Man's articulation,
09:03the one thing I kind of really wish this guy could have had was a ball joint in his head.
09:07I know that's asking really a lot for a figure that's two decades old.
09:10But with his head being low like this,
09:12you can't really get the full experience of what this guy would look like under the mask.
09:16With it being down like this, I would love to be able to tilt this up
09:19so he'd actually be looking straight up.
09:21But unfortunately, the head is always going to be angled down.
09:24For his arm, one arm moves forward and back.
09:27It only really moves about that far back and about that far forward.
09:31Don't push Lady Luck any further than that.
09:34If you do, you're probably going to be snapping the arm.
09:36That looks to be as far as the arm's going to be able to go.
09:38He also has just all this cool sculpting here.
09:41Now, this elbow pad does move technically back and forth.
09:45The elbow does move just a little bit as well,
09:47but not a lot for me to be able to say.
09:49Like, bend it at a 90 degree angle bend.
09:51That would be stupidity on my part.
09:53But it does bend a little bit.
09:55And when it does actually bend, this piston moves in and out as well.
09:59He does no articulation here where you can rotate the wrist.
10:02However, though, again, we can open and close the claw.
10:05No waist articulation.
10:06This arm is stuck.
10:07I mean, it's basically just molded to the rest of his body.
10:10You can, however, for reasons unknown, only really move his elbow.
10:14And look at, check out the detailing, though, on just this elbow alone.
10:18It looks like he's got a spike.
10:19Maybe he even uses these as weapons.
10:21This doesn't move at all, but it kind of looks like where there's a groove right here.
10:24Maybe you'd be able to fit something in there.
10:26Maybe, like, could you take the axe?
10:28Let's try the axe.
10:29Maybe the axe would fit in there.
10:31Oh, maybe it does.
10:32You can slide it sort of in there.
10:34Maybe you can use it as a weapon that way.
10:36Anyway, it does kind of look like there's a little, if I get my finger out of the way,
10:39there's almost like a little ledge right there.
10:42Maybe you could take yourself the axe and wedge it in there.
10:46I don't know if you saw that for a second, but there's actually a little piece of plastic
10:49that broke off.
10:50Maybe it's telling me, don't do what you're doing right now.
10:53Does it fit in there?
10:54Barely.
10:55Barely.
10:55I don't think it's supposed, I don't really think it's supposed to be in there.
10:58No hand articulation.
11:00The legs don't really move forward and back, so don't try to budge them.
11:04They do split out, however, though.
11:06So again, he's got some really strange articulation.
11:08Just with the looseness of these legs, just I get a little worried about obviously moving
11:12a figure that is this old.
11:14He's got some knee articulation on this side.
11:16He's got, this ankle actually moves forward and back.
11:19You can also move it up and down as well.
11:21But again, you know, well, I've already stated the obvious.
11:24This leg also does move forward and back.
11:26The thing that's kind of also cool about this foot is that you can also hinge this out.
11:30So you can see what the foot would look like or the leg would look like underneath.
11:34Just do it only with a little amount, though.
11:36Don't move it all the way out because it might actually snap the joint on the back.
11:40And you can see there's the hinge right there.
11:42It's a really fun figure.
11:43It's one of those figures, though, like I said this, I think with Scarecrow, too, that
11:47you pick up a figure like this, you can look at it and you could spend a really long
11:51time moving and spinning the figure around, seeing details that you never really saw.
11:56And that's one of the things that really made the 2000s, the early 2000s McFarlane
12:01line so very interesting in that you could go in and pick up a figure like this.
12:06Yes, you would lose the fact that these figures don't have any articulation with the tin
12:10man.
12:10Actually, he has what seems to be so far the most articulation that could possibly change,
12:15though, when we look at the Cowardly Line.
12:17Bringing in then the other examples.
12:18There's Dorothy Gale carefully, carefully sliding in the Scarecrow.
12:23And here's the Scarecrow as well.
12:25If anybody has been following along the Wizard of Oz, know the story quite well.
12:29Up next, obviously, Dorothy Gale is then going to come across the Cowardly Lion.
12:33The Cowardly Lion is also a really neat looking figure.
12:35I'm looking forward to picking that one.
12:36Well, not looking forward to picking that one.
12:38I already have picked up that one.
12:39Looking forward to having a look at that in the upcoming review.
12:42Yeah, the tin man, though, while having a little loose in legs, he certainly has more
12:47interesting features to him.
12:48The fact that he can open and close his chest.
12:50The fact he does have an open and closing claw.
12:52And that he also has some accessories.
12:54Of course, an axe and himself a little bit of a little oil.
12:57I think he's probably going to need a little bit more oil, judging by the state that he's
13:01currently in.
13:02I got to be honest.
13:02I really wasn't looking forward to getting these guys back out of the bags.
13:05They've been sitting in bags for probably the last several years.
13:08To be expected, though, I was thinking I was pulling out some of these figures and finding
13:11loose plastic pieces broken inside the bottom of the bag.
13:15Tin Man actually fared a lot better than I was expecting.
13:17There are a few things, as you're looking at right now, even on the back of his leg.
13:21Those could all be potentially broken.
13:23And yet, though, Tin Man, for the most part, remained pretty unscathed.
13:26Yes, he does have still loose legs.
13:28That's something, though, with just the design of the legs.
13:30That's going to happen over time.
13:32But the hinge that he has on the boot, also the little hinge for the door in the front
13:36of his heart, those have all still remained, knock on metal, generally pretty good.
13:41I wish the same could be said for Scarecrow.
13:43Scarecrow is just a mess.
13:44I mean, yeah, Tin Man, though, does look like a decayed corpse.
13:48That's probably one of the coolest things I like about the figure.
13:50He isn't my favorite, but he's pretty close to the top.
13:53I think the Cowardly Lion probably is still one of my favorite figures from the Twisted
13:56Land of Oz.
13:57Probably then Dorothy Gale, right after that, is the old Tin Man here.
14:01Bottom of the list, I would still say it's Scarecrow, just by the fact that Function was
14:06later to the form.
14:07He looks good, but he's just, again, a big straggly mess.
14:11If you've already seen my review of the Scarecrow, you probably already know that for yourself.
14:15Now, again, I don't think Tin Man really did get a variant.
14:18I know Dorothy did get one.
14:20I think also the Cowardly Lion.
14:22But I think the Tin Man and Scarecrow were both figures that were only released in regular
14:25versions.
14:26I don't think there's another one that you can try to track down.
14:29Speaking of tracking down, even though we are going to be looking at all the remaining
14:32line of the Twisted Land of Oz, the one, though, that will be omitted is unfortunately
14:36the Flying Monkeys.
14:37I looked online just to see what the prices were going for the Flying Monkeys.
14:41You can't see it right now, but I was basically nodding my head.
14:44In fact, actually, I probably put my hands up to my head and I just thought to myself,
14:47there's no way I can justify picking those up.
14:49It may change.
14:50Right now, it isn't.
14:51What do you guys think of the Tin Man?
14:52Let me know down below in the comments section.
14:54A pretty cool looking figure.
14:55Does he show his age?
14:57That's one rather interesting thing I'd like to ask you guys as well.
15:00Do these figures show their age?
15:02Keeping in mind, they're 20 plus year old figures.
15:04Does this look like a figure that came out 20 years ago?
15:08Let me know what you think of it.
15:09If you guys also did enjoy this video, do it as solid and throw it a like.
15:12You guys want to stick around for more?
15:13So I hope so.
15:14As we continue closer to the wizard up next, we're going to be seeing the Cowardly Lion.
15:19I just hope he's not going to rip my arm off.
15:21As always, guys, thanks for watching.
15:22See you guys next time.
15:23We'll see you next time.
