Taipei Zoo is mourning the death of an African elephant who lived there for nearly four decades. The 42-year-old elephant had struggled with health problems in recent months and passed away on Friday.

00:00Mei Dai, an African elephant living in the Taipei Zoo for nearly 40 years, died on Friday
00:07after months of health issues.
00:09She was 42 years old.
00:11Zoo staff worked to remove Mei Dai's body from her enclosure Saturday.
00:15Mei Dai and her remaining sister, Qian Hui, were brought to the zoo in 1986.
00:21Qian Hui is now the only African elephant at the zoo, and the staff say she may be sad
00:26and need more support from zookeepers in the coming days.
