00:00All right, hi people, it's Shakespeare and I'm here to do an unboxing for you guys today
00:06of Doctor Who, the complete, er, John Pertwee complete season one, aka season seven of classic
00:13Doctor Who. So yeah, I don't have the, I didn't, or I didn't do before this, if you're watching
00:20this in upload order, I didn't do the, um, Sylvester, the last Sylvester McCoy season
00:25because I didn't have enough money to buy it. I will be getting it soon though. So,
00:30yeah, but until then, we have this. This is what I was waiting for because, er, this was the season,
00:38er, the only season of John Pertwee's I was waiting for, uh, when these started coming out
00:44and the other seasons of his started being released because, um, well, Spearhead from Space is the only
00:51Doctor Who, um, story from the classic era to be completely in HD because they shot on 16mm
00:59or film due to, I think, a strike that was going on at the time. Um, but yeah, and as a result,
01:08they shot it on film. They shot a lot of location work and had to make do with what they could, um,
01:14to actually get the story all shot and made. So, yeah, uh, which made the story run over budget.
01:23Oh, yeah. Um, and after this, we have one more John Pertwee season, two more of Tom Baker's and one of
01:32Peter, Peter Davison's, I believe, last of the seasons where all of the episodes are intact
01:38and they can upscale them to 1080p. Then we just have the first, er, five of the first six seasons
01:48to be re-released on Blu-ray. Um, so, yeah, will they make more animated versions of the episodes to
01:59release those? We'll see. Cause they, they, they did William Hartnell's second season or just season
02:05two of classic and, um, they just stopped with the first six seasons after that. I think because
02:12they are missing episodes. There was only one story, I believe, in that season that was missing
02:16any episodes and they weren't animated specifically for that set. But yeah, and I'm really surprised
02:22that they haven't thrown more money at an animation studio to do more animations. You would think that
02:29they would, but yeah. But, and, but, especially since the show is most likely going to go on a bit
02:36of a hiatus as they figure out what they want to do next and, uh, see if Disney wants to continue
02:42doing this stuff. Maybe they should throw some of that money at animation studios to do the animation
02:49work. But yeah. Um, but enough, uh, of that. Uh, so we have Doctor Who. I still hate that they're
02:59still using the 13th Doctor era logo, but what can you do? They started releasing during her era, so
03:06yeah, it's stupid, but yeah. Uh, we got nice painting of John Pertwee right there, and we have some of the
03:16monsters from, uh, this season. John Pertwee complete season one, seven-disc set, and everything.
03:25We got the spine, so yeah. So we got the back, uh, Doctor Who. John Pertwee complete season one.
03:33Uh, and all that with the, uh, stories. Spirit from Space, Doctor Who and the Silurians,
03:39the Ambassadors of Death and Inferno. All 25 episodes newly restored for Blu-ray and packed
03:44with extra material, including new documentaries for these, and then, uh, all that. In Conversation,
03:54brand new interview with, uh, with actor John Levine. Behind the Sofa, Doctor Who Escape Room,
04:02with Team Third Doctor, movie editions, archive treats, Blu-ray trailer, PDF, written archive,
04:08scripts, scripts, and more archive material. Uh, it's just, uh, it has the special features from the
04:14DVDs, and much more. Starring John Pertwee, Caroline John, or maybe it's Caroline, I don't know,
04:22and Nicholas Courtney. Main feature, 69, white screen. The episodes aren't in 4x3, by the way.
04:30A lot of the special features aren't in 69, but the, but yeah. Uh, Dolby Digital 5.1, 636 minutes
04:37approximately. Region 1, I should say Region A. I don't know if that's consistent with the other
04:43sets. Color and black and white. NTSC. Subtiles, English SCH. Because for some of John Pertwee's
04:49earliest seasons, because of the, because of the fact that they junked, or started junking them
04:54before they stopped. Um, some of the, uh, stories, unfortunately, are only available
05:01in black and white to any extent. They had to re, uh, or figure out how to do the color. Um,
05:09Josh Snares has a really good, like, documentary on how they, like, uh, restored a lot of the episodes
05:16that they had junked, including the John Pertwee episodes that only had copies that were in black and
05:22white. How they restored the color to those. As well as how they, um, colorized other episodes
05:28that they, um, did not have any chance of getting the colors for. Using reference photos and everything.
05:36So, yeah. Um, NTSC. Subtitles, English SCH. Special features may not be in high def and iron. Subtitles
05:46may vary. Everything, as far as I can tell, that has audio has subtitles. So, yeah.
05:52So, here we go. With Disc 1, Spirit from Space. This, um, this has basically all of the contents
05:58from the older Blu-ray release. Um, Disc 2, Doctor Who and the Settlerians. Disc 3,
06:06Doctor Who and the Settlerians, Omnibus, slash, The Cave of Monsters. Disc 4, The Ambassadors of Deaths.
06:13Disc 5, Inferno. Disc 6, Inferno, Omnibus. And Disc 7, some extra bonus features. So, yeah.
06:21And that's where I think they have a bunch of the new stuff. And, yeah. Overall, pretty
06:27packed, um, set. So, yeah. Um, so, really not much else to say. So, link to the description
06:35on my show. Subscribe if you want. And I'll see you guys in the next one.
