00:00This relationship went down in flames quite spectacularly and in a maybe different way
00:09than we all could have imagined, but I think everyone expected this was not expected to last.
00:17You write about that in your book. In fact, you said it was inevitable,
00:21but did you have any idea it would go down the way it did? I mean, I was just wondering what
00:27was going through Elon's mind yesterday. Is this his, because for a moment I thought, all right,
00:32he's just trolling Trump, but then it just took a turn where it felt like he's angry. He's really
00:37angry and wants to hurt him, wants to hurt the president as much as he can. Is this a pattern
00:46with him, something he does? Yeah, that escalation definitely follows a pattern. And something that
00:51really struck me about actually Joe Rogan's comment, the takeaway of the phone, I mean,
00:55that's been a persistent theme among Tesla investors over the years. I talked to a Tesla
00:59investor yesterday who had just said the same thing, like somebody take the phone away from him.
01:04And the fact that people around Elon still have not managed to get control over this. I mean,
01:10when Elon was in a feud with the SEC, there was a requirement issued from the courts that he have
01:16a Twitter sitter, somebody to monitor his potentially market moving tweets. He tweeted at the chair of the
01:21Senate Finance Committee, an extremely lewd tweet. Why does your PP look like you just came? His
01:27profile picture, I suppose he's saying, during the middle of negotiations over the Inflation Reduction
01:34Act. So anyone who thinks there's some kind of 40 chess here or that Elon's playing some kind of long
01:39game, no, this is the pattern. This is how it goes. And of course, that's also been the pattern
01:43with Donald Trump for people for years have said, can't somebody take away his phone? But you've got the
01:48president of the United States, the most powerful guy on the planet. And you've got the richest guy
01:53on the planet who also owns X. So it's his platform too. So who's going to take him off of
02:00that platform when he's the guy who owns it? And I know you've also talked with some Tesla folks who
02:06are really upset about what he's doing to the company. I keep saying it's like in the Batman movie,
02:11the people who are on the bridge hanging over the water. These are the Tesla folks who have just been
02:16just in the lurch, like where he allied himself with Trump. It benefited the company. Then there
02:23was all the backlash against the company. Then he had to return to the company. And in returning
02:26to the company, he has engaged in a feud with the president that has caused the stock to lose 15%
02:32of its value. So you have to imagine these folks are quite frustrated and they want this to come to
02:37any kind of conclusion. Real quickly, your gut instinct ever studying him so closely, do you think
02:44Trump and Musk get back together? I see how they are people who can have short memories,
02:50but and I'm going to this is not my professional opinion. I'm somebody who like I like rap music
02:56and I think about the Drake and Kendrick thing. And I'm like, I'm always like, how how do they get back
03:02from that accusation? So I don't know. But like, I know that these are two people who have the ability
03:09to have a short memory when it might serve them well.
