Red Sox vs Yankees weekend series begins tonight! How excited are you? Does the rivalry still have juice? #mlb
Transcript
00:00A three-game series against the Yankees, and of all the things I dislike about the Red Sox front office and management team,
00:07it's that these weekends used to be what the summer was all about.
00:11We would drive down the Major Deegan, get a couple seats for Red Sox-Yankees, go back and forth in one day.
00:18There was a palpable feel in the city of Boston and around New England when the Red Sox and Yankees were beginning a series in the summer
00:24with the division on the line.
00:26It used to be 18 games, now it's 13 games.
00:30And I bet you if you walked around the city of Boston today and you said,
00:34who are the Sox playing tonight?
00:35Less than half would know the Yankees against the Red Sox tonight.
00:38You think?
00:38Yes.
00:39And that sucks.
00:40It should be a calendar event.
00:43You should be out at a bar tonight with everybody having the game on, seeing what's up with the Sox.
00:48And John Henry has prioritized the overall health of Major League Baseball over the success of his baseball team
00:55in terms of contracts and structure to the team.
00:58And I'll be watching because Ken's going to talk all about it tomorrow, so I've got to be up on my P's and Q's.
01:04But it is not something that it once was, and that is the fault of this ownership group.
01:08Well, we had Craig Breslow on yesterday, and you alluded to some of the things he said earlier.
01:14What is most alarming to me is I don't think they know how to fix it.
01:19Oh, they do.
01:20They don't want to do it.
01:21I mean, he, you know, what was the question?
01:26Name one thing that this team does well.
01:28Yeah.
01:28Right.
01:29Oh, God.
01:29Does well?
01:30Thought partnering.
01:31I don't know.
01:31He didn't have an answer.
01:33I'm pretty sure he said it's hard to – it was a crazy –
01:38He had no idea.
01:40I don't think you can change this season because the people that you expected to perform well just aren't doing it,
01:49especially when you look at your starting pitching, right?
01:51Well, I mean, Garrett Crochet –
01:53Other than him, Bale's been okay.
01:58Walker Buehler's been okay.
01:59But Giolito, I mean, basically serves up a home run derby in the first inning.
02:05So does Dick Fitz.
02:07Yeah, that's right.
02:08So your starting pitching is basically one guy that's going to give you, you know, good innings,
02:14and that's Crochet.
02:15And other than, you know, Duran and maybe Endeavors, guys are struggling, hitting the bait.
02:22This thing is not going to get fixed.
02:25You had the players.
02:27I think now it's time to look and say, okay, do we go in a different direction with the manager?
02:31Because even if you change the manager, I don't think it's going to make a difference this season,
02:35but it's going to have to be where are they going from here.
02:39But you heard – like you have heard – you heard Kevin Millar on this show yesterday, Wiggy.
02:44Yeah.
02:44Say it's on the players.
02:46It's not –
02:46Because he showers with Cora.
02:47Well, he showers with Cora.
02:48Well, I don't – I mean –
02:49I bet he's a little bit biased to Cora as a manager.
02:52I wouldn't say a little bit right after showering with Cora.
02:54Congratulations.
02:55Bye-bye.
02:55Bye-bye.
02:57Bye-bye.
03:07Bye-bye.
03:09Bye-bye.
03:19Bye-bye.
