US travel ban will not hinder Los Angeles Olympics -- LA28 officials
US President Donald Trump's directive banning citizens from 12 countries from entering the US includes a key carve out for athletes, LA28 officials said on June 5, 2025 but they remained confident the Games would continue to have the full backing of the administration. Trump signed the proclamation on June 4 as part of an immigration crackdown needed to protect the US against 'foreign terrorists' and other security threats. 'The important thing for us is that the federal government and this administration recognized the importance of the Olympics and the Games,' LA28 CEO Reynold Hoover told Reuters.

00:00The travel ban that was announced, you know, the important thing there for us is that the
00:26federal government and this administration recognize the importance of the Olympics and
00:31the games.
00:32And there is a carve out in the order, in the travel ban that allows for and assures that
00:38there will be access to the games, the Olympics for the athletes and their families and the
00:43officials.
00:44We will be able to have a wide open games.
00:46Yeah, I think, look, when, you know, just a couple of weeks ago at the White House Task
00:50Force, the first task force for FIFA, the president said and the vice president said all of the
00:56administration officials said, you know, we welcome the world to come to FIFA.
01:00I think the administration is welcoming the world to come to L.A.
01:04Obviously, since we last met the fires in L.A., a horrific and devastating tragedy in our community
01:21happened.
01:22But in the true L.A. spirit, what we have seen is from across the region, around the
01:27world, support, engagement, commitment to rebuild L.A. stronger than ever, not just in those
01:36communities, but as a city as a whole.
01:39And as we get to 2028, I have no doubt that when we light that Olympic flame, it will be
01:45a flame of rebirth for our city.
01:48And we look forward to that moment.
01:50To piggyback on Ed's question, are you concerned about revenues in respect to fans coming in
01:55based off of Trump's travel ban?
01:57No.
02:00To reflect a little bit on my personal experience from the 1984 Olympic Games and how special
02:10that was and how it changed my life, it changed the lives of so many people, these 1984 Olympic
02:16Games, not even talking about the 1932, where, of course, I was not present personally, but
02:20looking forward to the 2028, we are so happy that the city of L.A. is taking on this huge
02:27undertaking, you know, this Olympic Games with more sports than ever, more venues than ever.
02:33So this is a real big challenge, but they're doing a great, great job.
02:57Thanks for being with us.
03:03Have a great week.
03:04So get a little bit disappointed in you, as well.
03:08We are working fullyерь表 classwork.

03:12And theagens of Madcap has a great day.
