00:00First of all, I just want to say what an honor it is to be here today, to be the MC, as I welcome my good friends War to the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
00:12Today in the category of recording, we honor War with star number 2814 on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
00:21Lonnie Jordan, Harold Brown, Howard Scott, Lee Oscar, and Jerry Goldstein.
00:30As well as the current members, Salvador Rodriguez, Marco Reyes, Rene Camacho, Scott Martin, Mitchell Koshma, and James Zoda Baker.
00:43And of course, we play tribute to the group's late members, Charles Miller, Morris Dickerson, and Thomas Sylvester Allen.
00:54Their music has crossed all musical genres and has been sampled by popular artists such as Tupac, The Beastie Boys, Method Man, Sublime, Red Man, Cypress Hill, Shaggy, A$AP Mob, De La Soul, Flowrider, Liam Payne,
01:14and shoot, even my partner and me sampled War's iconic Cisco Kid on Janet's Velvet Rope album.
01:23War is going to hit the road for dozens of tour dates across the U.S. and abroad.
01:27I just saw them at the Greek Theater a little earlier in the year.
01:32They're absolutely amazing to see live, and they are going to be doing a headline performance right here at the L.A. County Fair.
01:38Lonnie, Harold, Howard, Lee, and Jerry to the stage.
02:00Welcome.
02:01And we're going to do a few photos happening.
02:04Yeah, that's great.
02:05You can hold on to me, I'll be, and we fall over together.
02:23So, on behalf of the City of Los Angeles, I'd like to present this recognition for becoming a member of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
02:34So, congratulations on behalf of the City of Angels for all the amazing things that you've done.

03:57All the kids.
03:59Hey, Lonnie.
04:00Hey, hello, everybody.
04:01My father was the bass player.
04:03The original, B.B. Dickerson.
04:05Rest in peace.
04:06I love you, Dad.
04:06And thank you for the group.
04:10And they should have had a star a long time ago.
04:12Long time ago.
04:13God bless you, guys.
04:14I'm Mark Miller.
04:15Watch out, Lee.
04:16I love you, baby.
04:17I love you, too, Mark.
04:18You done?

04:51Yeah, you will.
04:53I got it.
04:53Yeah.
04:54And these are my wannabe cohorts.
04:57I'm going to let it over to them.
04:59And I'd like to thank our Hollywood Walk of Fans.
05:10Howard Scott here.
05:13I'm an outlaw, baby.
05:17I'm going to tell you something.
05:18For all my worth, to be in the band War was so fulfilling.

05:26I have my children here in the audience, a bunch of them, all my nieces, nephews, and
05:35grandchildren.

05:37And to the fans, all the fans out there that like war, that made one song from war, their
05:46favorite song, remember this.
05:49Share that song with somebody else, and it will unite the world.
05:53Share the song that you love about war around the world.
06:01I just want to say it real quick.
06:03I want to thank our parents for standing behind us.
06:06Because I remember when Howard's father, BB's father, they used to take us to all of our
06:11gigs.
06:12They would hang out.
06:13And I just want to just thank you.
06:15You know, you've always got to remember to thank your parents for standing behind you.
06:19And also your teachers and stuff.
06:21Because it was that five minutes that changed my life in 1957, when one of my instructors
06:27showed me how to hold a pair of drumsticks, and what a quarter note was.
06:32And I always like to say, live your dreams, not somebody else's.
06:36Showtime!
06:37I'd like to thank my wife also, who endured me during all this time.
06:46And while the pages were turning, I'd like to thank my daughter and my grandchildren over
06:52there in the corner.
06:52And I'd like to say, as the pages turn, before the pages turn, you have to understand that
07:06we made some beautiful children.
07:09One named the Cisco Kid, the other, The World is a Ghetto, the other, Why Can't We Be Friends?
07:14City, Country, City.
07:15The list goes on, me and baby brother.
07:16I mean, those were our children.
07:20And our children are older now.
07:25And they're still playing on the radio, on social media.
07:30So I'd like to thank all of you for supporting us, being there for us.
07:35You put us here, and I know you can take us out.
