00:00Walt Disney and Salvador Dalla met in 1945 and got along so well that Walt suggested they work together on a film.
00:08Walt assigned John Hench to collaborate with Dalla on the Destino project, and they spent six weeks at the studio developing the story, painting backgrounds, characters, and sketches.
00:20Hench became so skilled at drawing in Dalla's style that, years later, Dalla himself struggled to tell which sketches were his.
00:28However, since the war had left the studio in financial trouble, the project was shelved with only 17 seconds of test footage filmed.
00:37In 1999, Walt's nephew, Roy Disney, revived the project.
00:42John Hench was still alive and helped the filmmakers assemble the story.
00:47He was 94 years old at the time and passed away shortly after the final film was screened.
